The Afro Affair!

First half, cross from the right. header from Fellaini plops into Cech's hands like a turd from a dog's arse ? more weight to the Dion Dublin argument? Is it time for a whipround to send the lanky one to the barbers? Or is it just a case of another big bloke (like Ferguson, Crouch) who wins lots of headers but can't actually head it very well?

If it was affecting his headers then he?d get rid. Surely he?s the only one that can tell if it?s affecting anything, not anyone else.

Do you you think that he doesn?t care that he can?t get any power in to his headers, or do you think he?s just so stupid that he hasn?t realised that all of a sudden he can?t head the ball properly?

Do you think that the 95% of headers that he does that are full power are somehow irrelevant?

Seriously, let?s stop this silly idea about his afro affectiing his headers ? it?s blatantly not true.

Hmm... Maradonna never got sent to the barbers and still managed a few headers with his 'fro... think this post is best filed under 'bullshit'.

Ferguson couldn’t head it very well?

I was never his biggest fan, but remember a few stunning headers - best I saw live being a header from pretty much edge of the box against Coventry. We drew 2-2. Ferguson got both, Eion Jess both for them. Halcyon Smithy Days indeed.

Ferguson was also pretty nimble on the deck. His biggest problem was with his head, but not what you allude to.

Merry Xmas to Blues everywhere.

A mullett or a mohican for the lad? Perhaps short back and sides, centre-parting and a brilliantine finish a la William Ralph is needed. Much nonsense has been talked about footballers? hairstyles over the years ? it always has been totally irrelevant, and still is.

Let?s just wish the big Fella with with the big hair ? and the rest of the players - a really successful second half to the season.

Ferguson was the best header of a ball I?ve ever seen ? to compare his heading ability to Crouch?s is frankly laughable.

Stupid discussion. Pete, not sure if you have ever played football but the idea is to get your forehead onto the ball, not the crown of your mullet FFS.

He should be heading the ball with his forehead and his hair shouldn't affect it!! He should have it chopped off for the simple fact that he looks a right tit!!!

You say his header plops into cech?s arms, well surely this is direction not power, so your initial post is just plain contradictory.

Callum ? Maradona often slipped a sneaky fist under the curls didn?t he?
Simon ? ?plops? was meant to indicate lack of power. I think Ferguson and Crouch won/win lots of balls in the air on account of their obvious physical advantage but I don?t think either were particularly good headers of the ball compared to the likes of Tim Cahill who has had to work at it, gets up high and gets real power in his headers. Sadly, we used Duncan too often with back to goal just flicking it on. When the ball was between him and the goal it was a different story.

So it?s a Number 1 before Boxing Day for MF then? Hope he gets one of them clipper sets for Christmas, cos I agree Andrew, he does look a right tit and my days of growing long/fuzzy (or anything else) hair have mainly gone so I?m jealous as well.

Happy Christmas.

I know from a reliable source that in the Fellaini contract it states that he must grow it so as to sell wigs in the club shop! Other players have similar clauses apparently.

Matt Traynor: I could very well be wrong, but wasn?t that 2-2 match with Coventry in the 95-96 season? We were two-nil up at half-time. Pretty sure that Eion Jess had just signed for Coventry from Aberdeen, no?

Leave Fellaini alone. He?s getting better with every match. His positional sense is sharp, his touch is very good for a big dude and he almost never comes out second best in a challenge. The goals will come.

Stopped taking the post seriously after you suggested Duncan Ferguson couldn’t head very well. He was one of the best headers of a ball the game has ever seen you fool!! His towering header at Arsenal when we lost 3-1 was as great a headed goal as you will ever see.

It’s not a stupid post. In the game against City he had a couple of chances with his head. Both times the replays showed that his hair’s so long it covers his forehead and cushions the ball. It’s simple physics, you get a different result if you strike the ball with a softer surface than with a hard one.

Well Personally i think fellaini’s hairdo is part of his make up and as such should be left to his own personal choice. It shows personality, individuality and last but not least is bouund to put a few of the opposition off their game....
Has anyone studied the hairdo’s of the rest of the Standard Liege team it would seem perms are still very much the thing where they from!

It would be best if he stopped growing it at the back and sides but let it grow another 18 inches on the top. He could then dye it royal blue and it would look like we had Marge Simpson playing in midfield. That would be worth paying £30 to watch.

Ferguson couldn’t header?! Have you been on the festive Sherry? Ferguson was probably one of the best headerers of the ball I have ever seen. Not only that but the big man could jump as well, something a lot of taller players couldn’t do.

I dont buy into that its anything to do with Fellaini’s hair! With the ball travelling toward him as fast as it did, a couple of extra inches of hair wouldnt make a bit of difference, and like the original post even states, it was the fact the he headed it straight down Cechs throat that was the problem! His goal against the mancs was a much more difficult chance and he buried it!
