Gwladys Street's Hall of Fame

Comments (5)

Interesting to read that this will be the last induction to Gwladys Street's Hall of Fame ? Dr David France's brilliant idea for buidling a lasting tribute to the greatest players and personalities that have graced Everton Football Club.

The idea is something I believe the good Doctor picked up while living in the United States, and I don't know how widely it has caught on with other clubs in England... Perhaps it is something that EFC will now pick up and run with... or is the whole concept protected by Patent Pending!?!?

Gwladys Street?s Hall of Fame book is the current home, and valuable charity fundraiser, for memories of our past heroes.

The Club, after much prompting, finally has access to The Dr David France Collection and this is a vital item to continue the legacy of a man who WILL be remembered as the GREATEST EVER EVERTONIAN.

The Hall of Fame falls in line with our continued cry of "and if you know yer history..."

How can we claim to cherish our heritage if we let the obvious heart of this claim be lost?

The Hall of Fame must continue.

Michael. Never be surprised by this club. I remember the club being outbid at auction for Dixie Deans? medals. It was in the mid-eighties and I still feel saddnes today that the club was outbid and that the family was willing to sell. The club may display one of Dixies prize assets but who is the owner?.

If it will make money, then the club will be interested. As supporters, we don?t see it as the club will want to.

Dave - according to the Dixie Dean interviews, the club did buy that piece of his history, still unbelievable that we didn?t buy the lot though.

Michael,

There are far too many misconceptions floating around regarding the Collection and as a Trustee of the Everton Collection Charitable Trust, I feel it is time that these are put straight. I am writing an article for submission that I?d be grateful if you would publish. I hope to get this to you by tomorrow.

In the meantime, boys, please refrain from mud-slinging as my article may make you look foolish.
