Groundhog Day

Starting to feel as though this close season will be a similar washout to last time. The media will link us with every Tom, Dick or João until a final "flurry" of loan signings with a day or two to go.
I just hope we don't sell Lescott only to have Jô (loan) and Jacobsen paraded as "new signings" with the rest of the money spirited away for Kirkby with a final "Sky money" deal made with minutes to go.
Roll on September - please!

Been thinking for a long time whilst reading various views and topics on possible transfers and the proposed ground move without really commenting, mainly I suppose because I'm a wooly but have supported the Blues since the age of 7 to my now tender age of 33.
If the club sold Lescott (£20M), Arteta (£20M)... possibly Rodwell in future (£20M) to fund the rebuild of Goodison Park (along with the money earmarked for Kirkby)... would you accept this as a way to stay at Goodison? If it meant staying in our spiritual home and in the city.
Curious as in these financial challenging times its clear we can't have it all.
Fully agree, Phillip, I?ve been thinking that for long time. Players are always passing through but Goodison has been here for a long time and should be here for a lot longer. All we need doing urgently is the Bullens and Gwladys ? once they're done in a few years time, bang another tier on the Park End and a refurb can do for the Main Stand for now. The Bullens could be the new Main Stand.
I?m sure Sir Moysey wouldn?t be overly chuffed though.
I figure it will be another late late show for us in the market.. saves on new players salaries during the summer...
Whilst we still have apologists like Dave Brierley thinking the sun shines out of Billy Bullshitter’s arse, it’s another Dad’s Army special - "don’t panic" or you could choose any of Billy’s own worthless soundbites, the best for this situation being "watch this (vacant) space". The logic behind selling your best players to fund a stadium where you won’t be able to entice punters to watch a mediocre side doesn’t hold water; the results on the pitch and Sky money are what’s keeping this club afloat.
Phillip,
Not sure that it would be necessary to do this - especially as the redevelopment of GP could be done in stages, well it would have to be unless we moved temporarily - but let’s say that hypothetically those were the only two options.
Unfortunately, I’d have to go with Kirkby or we’d be in grave danger of going down and given that we’d just been in that predicament, we’d struggle to massively financially if we did end up in the Championship.
Fortunately though, common sense depicts that if we really do have this £80M really ringfenced then we could signifcantly make a start on improving the Old Lady should DK disappear (fingers crossed).
These might be of interest BTW:

I think I will wait until after the window actually opens before worrying about a repeat of last close season's fiasco.
The fact that we have had a couple of offers knocked back already has put us further than where we were last season.
Watch this space... (What a fooking stupid comment that was!)
Having seen a worrying headline of "Pennant agonising over switch to Goodison", I read he is supposedly concerned at the reaction of Liverpool fans ? it?s the reaction of Everton fans he would have to be worried about!!
I genuinely hope Lescott stays but there have been enough quality players willing to commit their futures to the club so I wouldn?t be afraid we?ve suddenly turned into a selling club again. Every now and then there will always be a club with the pull of that club and/or simply the lure of a boat load of cash that some players won?t be able to resist. If he goes, I am confident it will be for enough cash that we can come out of it positively.
I see a rumour Joe Cole may be leaving Chelsea....
Whoever we sign I hope that they will NOT be big names with heads the size of Senor Alonso. I almost gave up football after reading his comments last week ? in the Daily Telegraph, I believe ? in which he was quoted as saying that Gordon?s plans to introduce a higher tax rate for high earners will deter foreigners from playing in the Premier League. Seems it will reduce his pay packet by about £1 million per annum.
Poor beggar, he?ll be down to his last £10 million in no time. Does he ever think who contributes to his salary apart from Sky? I trust David Moyes to winkle out the stars of the future from lower league clubs, as he has done in the past.
Delph, Ledley and Naughton would probably be very good signings. All fit the sort of Lescott / Jagielka / Cahill type signing. On top of that we may need another quality forward, as if the Yak doesn’t recover as quickly or as well as we’d like you don’t want to rely on Saha or Vaughan for fitness and Vic for form!
Players I'd like to see in an Everton shirt next season are either Moutinho or M'Bia, Obinna and Naughton for the right flank and Jo on another loan. I think this list would check many of the Moyes boxes, and seems reasonably within the realms of possibility (depending on the amount of money we have, of course) ? though that Moutinho one does seem more misplaced hope than genuine belief. I would love, however, to be proved wrong. Roll on next season! COYB!!!
Well we won’t be having Jacobsen paraded as a new signing will we?
