Shame we ended up losing. Looked like a decent up-and-coming side that too.

Although it was a meaningless friendly I thought Irvine looked handy.

it looks like DM was trying a few out to see if they were good enough to be used this season or he needs to bring extra cover in....

Baxter played AM wasn't involved much. I hear he?s a huge RS fan?! Rodwell played really well and looks like he could play the Carsley role next season. Kissock was ok; reminds me of Faddy, likes to take people on.

Baxter wasn’t that great, Keiran looked good tho! Very impressed. Just didn’t get the final touch. Rodwell (think it was) had an awesome run through, getting past 3 defenders, unfortunately Kieran took his final touch and it was called offside.

IF he had let Jack keep going we would have scored easy!

Andy VDM looked very good (first time I’ve actually seen him play) after all the bad mouthing he’s gotten in the past.. Was fast, and had some smooth skills on the ball. Set up Baxter who should have scored but didn’t.

Really we blooded alot of youngsters, played 2 of our top backs, a decent left back in Valente and a youngster at right back all game.

Somehow they slipped through at one stage, but ah well. We’re only learning at this stage and these guys sounded flat out in training recently.

ANDY J was sitting with the guys (next to the bench) but not in the lineup as he’d done his calf. Don’t worry, he wasn’t off for another team at the time!!! :) He looked to be enjoying the game!

Neville actually had the best shot on goal. The keeper only just getting to it at the bottom of the right post. We didn’t have many attempts after that.

The game was, as I’d imagine, a bit of what it’d be like to watch a Reserves game (which I’ve never seen)

.....

I only just singed up for EFC tv for first time also, just for pre season. Its actually pretty decent. I was running on a pretty lame adsl at my aunties place, but the streaming was awesome :)

(and I’m in Australia)

Newayz, still on a high after a great win by my aussie rules team (yes, gimme shyte) lol..

C’mon Essendon (lol)

and GO EVERTON!! Bring on 08/09 !!!

MK, help, please!
This thread is like reading a juvenile’s txt msg!
Does DM = David Moyes? If so, RJ, how was JB in him?
Was the KO AM or PM ? Was SR there? Did VDM play OR or OL (or, should that, in today’s CM-speak, WR or WL?)
WTF?

HMMmmmm, not sure about this one, I thought Moysie might have learnt the lesson of piss poor passing. This cost a lot of points last season so lets hope its just rustiness! During the whole of the game i cannot remember three consecutive passes ending up with a fourth going to a BLUE shirt, Mr. Moyes please learn from the recent Euro comp. Posession is nine tenths of the law, keep the ball, win the games!!!!

Teddy Draper, we kept possession well. Rodwell and Neville where showing for the ball and Jags and Lescott where playing it simple.

Our problem was we had no quality to turn that possession into goals and we’d more than not go backwards instead of forwards. When your midfield partnering is Neville and Rodwell that’s expected.

Van der Meyde had a bright 60 minutes wide right and left. He faded in the last 30 minuted due to being moved centrally.

Jose Baxter or Josh? I can’t find him on the Everton list, strangely enough on the Everton site...

No doubt I’m wrong tho, was just typing off the top of my head :) Sure he’s on wiki..

Mike Coates:

It?s Jose Baxter. On the official site, he?ll probably be in the academy squad list rather than the first team.

Sorry, Phil, it does seem to have gotten a bit out of hand... I had to leave ToffeeWeb Towers for after the game for some extended jollies and so this thread is pretty much un-edited... and see what happens. Txt-speak and abbreviations run amuck! And Tony, I think Irvine left us months ago... the RB's his name is John Irving. Oh now you've got me doing it!

Michael Kenrick, I wondered what you thought of Andy van der Meyde yesterday? I find it a bit of a dilemma myself as on the one hand if he were to leave I would not bat an eyelid yet the other hand (if it could talk!) would say whilst he is here get some (long over due) useage out of him.

Yea, I’d agree with that assessment, Nick. I put less weight on the pre-season games though; I don’t believe they provide any indication of how individial players will perform during the season, nor what role they will play in Moyes’s selection thoughts... Which is probably as it should be. These are just training matches for the players who are avalibale, and has no bearing on whether Van der Meyde will finally do a job for us. I’m not holding my breath....
