Soccer Dreams

Anybody else (in North America) watching the Soccer Dreams series currently being shown on the FOX Soccer Channel? Just curious... is it being shown back home in the UK? As far as getting our name out.... brilliant! Why other teams haven't done it before now is surprising... and they are obviously going to do it this year too. The program is pretty good; not worthy of an Emmy Award. The editing of the program could be better but for a summer of no soccer (argh!!!) it's well-worth watching!!
However, two comments I'd like to make re: this Saturday's episode: two of the coaches were arguing the toss over which players they got for their own team. I'm sure it was meant to be funny... however, I actually thought it was very unprofessional the way they carried on ? especially the white guy. Thank heavens they are not Everton coaches ? only being used for this program.
Secondly, there was a moment where they were talking to all the players and one coach (after a scrimmage game) commented that playing "hoof ball is not good enough and that it doesn't work anywhere else in the world".
Need I say more?

I have been watchng it too and fully agree with your observations. Although it is Canadian, it strikes me as normal for the American "macho" coach attitude that seems to be the norm over this side of the Atlantic in all their sports - they want to compete against each other, never mind the kids. I’m sure that Ray Hall will have something to say to them, if he hasn’t already said it.
The website for Soccer Dreams could certainly do with some kind of news/information updates - its poorly formatted and gives no news on the kids progress whatsoever - in fact doesn’t show any of them.
Hopefully, though, Everton will gain a superb youngster from this concept, as a few of the kids are impressive for their age and it is a great idea.
I didn?t check their website.... too busy reading ToffeeWeb, lol! I just looked at it now and you?re right...as websites go it?s pretty dire! You?re also right in that some of the kids clearly have talent...... right now it?s impossible to pick anybody out as there?s so many of them.... I?m sure the last few episodes will be exciting to watch.
As info for other readers over here:
Fox Soccer Channel each and every Saturday at 12 pm EST through Saturday August 9th. Then on Saturday August 16th, 23rd and 30th, it will premiere at 6:30 pm EST.
As Martin explained, there is some good talent in the series - it will be interesting to see who wins, because, as usual there are quiet guys, arrogant little buggars and then there are those that just look like they are there already....almost.
Ray Hall will fly across and join in on the next programme, it’s excellent publicity for the team over here.
I’m sure that you guys back home will get to see this programme soon - I wonder why Everton can’t show it on the OS - but then wouldn’t that be done at another club?
