Looking at a few webistes today and some are saying that we have already agreed a fee of around £4m for the Defensive midfielder who will fill the gap that Carsley played. I know that he plays for Cameroon and in France but has anyone seen this guy play? And will he do a better job than Carsley??

No, but he has a decent reputation. There’s some fairly uninspiring footage of him scoring a few goals on YouTube as well.

Would these be the same websites that have us "almost" buying Arshavin, Milto, Aimar, Chimbonda, Johnson, Reyes (yes Reyes), Topal.....etc etc etc?

It was rumoured some time ago that Manure and the RS were sniffing around him so he cant be that bad.

Unfortunately I think the rumours were started by the player!!

General consensus is young, big, fit & strong and no mean skill. Fits the Moyes bill perfectly. Bring him on I say.

Only problem is the cursed ANC thing. We could be losing almost half a team to the next tournament.

Now, if Project Arshavin gets back on the rails then we could be starting the season with a spring in our step. Still need another top midfielder and I am seriously hoping that Fernandez is on his way back as reports suggest.

As for the Chimbonda link, he doesn?t fit the Moyes profile. He?s older & bit of a selfish, lonely bastard. DM likes young, hungry team-players.

Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and some bloke from the Championship we’ve never heard of..................just kidding.

I still believe we’ll sign 2 or 3 players; I’m basing this purely on the comments of P Neville and M Arteta who have both stated exactly that.

I trust them implicitly.

2 or 3 players?????

At the end of last season we were short by maybe 4 or 5 players, especially in the midfield area.
Carsley has gone, gravesen, wessels and fernandes. So there are four places we need to fill already plus the 4 or 5 I personally think we were short last season.

I can't see any youngsters making the step up this season... so therefore think we need 7 maybe 8 players with two or three of those of high quality if we are to compete, and also get to the latter stages of the cup competitions. I think with the games coming thick and fast at the back end of last season the size of the squad shown.

And Carsley....why does everyone keep going on about ? filling the Carsley role?? ... we need body?s simple as that. Anyone with a certain amount of ability can play that role... it's not a hard role to play whotsoever.

The amount of players we need has to be tempered by reality, and the reality is that we’re more likely to get 2 or 3 rather than 7 or 8. I would suggest that 2 or 3 signings is the most realistic scenario - better that than none at all.....mind you if its true that anyone can play the defensive midfield role, then we have nothing to worry about according to El Peo - we can just use the kitman maybe.

Alan Kirwin, about the ANC: South Africa are almost certain not to qualify for the ANC 2010. They need to win their last two matches, including one against Nigeria who won all their matches until this moment, to have a small chance at progressing to the next round. Chances are big Pienaar will be available in January 2010!

Can?t see the likes of this bloke selling many season tickets.Looks like we?re shopping in the basement again with agents? videos playing a key role. The goalkeeper Moyes is looking at has never played a competitive game for the club he?s with and M?Bia has a less than stellar record.
Expect only 2/3 signings with a big name entirely dependent on whether they can unload AJ.

M?Bai?s on 22 & is a Cameroon international & fits the bill perfectly for the tall, strong DM player we?ve been after.

Moyes has never been a "stellar signing" type of manager David - so I?m not sure what you were expecting.

As for the lack of general activity on the transfer front - this time last year we?d only signed Jags & the mood was equally gloomy, so no need for the razor blades just yet.

I don?t know why everybody bangs on we need 7-8 players. We lost KEY players at an important time of the season, that is it. The squad is only paper thin when we lose and it?s the easiest excuse. Liverpool would suffer and they would not finish top 5 if they lost Torres and Gerrard for long periods like we did Arteta and Cahill and they have a massive squad!!!!

If we bought 7 it would cause more distruption then help matters as they would have to bed in. We need 3 now and 2-3 in January. There is no point filling the squad with journeymen or kids that can't hack it just to make the squad bigger because all that would happen is it would be something else for us to moan at Moyes for!!!!

Steve
the big difference this year is we have lost McFadden,Fernandes,Carsley,Stubbs,Wessels and Graveson.

Cahill,Hibbert,Anichebe and possibly Yobo and Vaughan will be missing the opening campaign.

In addition Baines and Jags were replacements for Weir,Naysmith and Simon Davies.

In addition we got rid of most of the youths so I tend to agree with Liam Pearson although I think we’ll be lucky to get 2 or 3 the way we’re shaping.

Watch out for the escape clause in Moyes contract.

Jay Harris,

Stubbs, Wessels and Gravesen hardly ever played and were not up to our standards. McFadden didn’t play that much as well. Fernandes only played at his normal level the last five games. Only Carsley is a real loss in comparison to our first team last season. That doesn’t mean we don’t have to sign anyone, but I can imagine Moyes holding out for quality signings, and if that doesn’t work out - grab cheap squad fillings somewhere in august. If he does so we won’t be better off, but we also won’t be worse off. Don’t panic. You can do that september 1st ;-)

I am concerned about the recent links with the swiss lad and Chimbonda. These players are both right backs that means only one thing captain marvel in the middle I sincerly hope not. For the life of me i can’t understand why Phil Neville is at the club an accepted as capatain his media skills as captain of Everton and promtoing the club are disgrace his recent comments of how we can challenge with the players we have well its just crazy I would like him to be drugs tested after such comments serious! also matalan united! from an Everton captain what the fuck was that about!!! very funny phil you fucking idiot I simply cant believe this guy him being played on the right against liverpool and forientina cost us are two most improtant games of the seaon to me mr Neville is more of a hindernce than a help and should not be at Eveton let alone captain Why is he here mr moyes only knows the wages he is on the way he must play is a disgrace we could get someone much better for his wages I would keep him as as cover for right back but we have tony hibbet for that so why is here mr moyes what does he offer are club for a reprted £40000 a week hmmmm? we could better for that money am certain

What has gone wrong with this club this summer? We should be buzzin signing few quality players the mcfad money should be there to add to a good budget that we should have, where is it?
I believe the kirby yes voters have contributed to this ludricus situation with the transfer budget a lot of the budget has either gone or is going towards kirby just think we could of redeveloped Goodison instead of going kirby oh well hook line and sinker comes to mind when I think of yes voters.

The lack of transfer activtity is making me feel sick.
Midfield must be reinforced why was carsley not given a two year deal last year? I didn’t want him as first chocie d/m this year I blame the manager for letting the club get in this position it is his fault we have no proper d/m
Neville and the Jag were signed to play d/m that turned out well didn’t it? Moyes’ track record in buying for this postion is a disgrace and lets face it he didn’t sign carsley a player I have never rated above squad player even that is generous. Carsley done well for us yes and thank you super Lee for that goal in the lower glwyds end agaisnt the shite I was there, first derby win. live with me forever but he was just not good enough end of! Will moyes sign a proper d/m who has everything he neess from past experince ie neville and the jag he doesnt have a clue what hes looking for!

I fear for us next season, not for the first time I may add. I do not want to be hearing at the end of the season how we should be happy with 8th OR 7th or progress shit drives me nuts! I want the club to be challlenge the sky 4 next season 5th place finsh minium looks unlikley now though. We missed are chance last january when we should of strengthend and not weakend suppose we got ferandes but he was shit lets face it he played well agaisnt newcastle one game whoopdy doo if I turned up to work once every 4 months don’t thinik i wouldnt be gettin a contract do you? I don’t want him personally I think Osman is a much better player. Ferandes is not a d/m I think the osman role of the 4 5 1 last season is his best pstion. I would sign him on loan only and use him as a squad player.
lets hope we can turn things round get some good players in knock the redshite out the sky top four and kriby gets called in. not holding my breath everton why o why do you do this to me!

David, I agree that the prospect of having Neville in central midfield is terrifying but you?re being especially harsh on Fernandes.

Although his form when he first came back on loan wasn?t great he improved greatly as his fitness improved and his injury subsided. Why are so many fucking fans oblivious to this!? (I remember seeing similar posts about Arteta when he was injured) And most importantly he has skill and technique on the ball ? rare attributes in Everton players. I actually like to see Everton play passing football, and we need quality players to do this. I find it amazing that so many people are harsh on our technically gifted players. Technique cannot be significantly improved after adolesece. But, tactical awareness, discipline and desire are things that good coaching can improve later on. If you cannot see the potential in Fernandes your head needs to be checked. It?s all the more strange when you berate Neville for being such a liability.

Btw, the great HST would have linked his words into chains and beat people with them?but he would have made sense.

In the news today that Makelele is on his way out of Chelsea, who better to play the Makelele role or Carsley role, than the man himself? Hew will have a few years left in him and gives Moyes some more time to eye up a younger replacement?

Paul Sherlock - Makelele would be a good shout, but I’m confident that his wages would be too steep for us.

When I saw the paltry amount that Inter initially offered for Fat Frank, I thought we can afford that, then you see reports that he’s turning down 140k a week offer from Chelski and that ends any crazy ideas of signing him. Different league mate and further demonstrates the astronomical gap between the Big 4 and the rest.

I’m interested by this M’bia lad though. As long as he doesn’t have that short circuit that often comes with African players. One minute they’re quietly going about their business, the next they’ve taken someone’s head off with a two footed drop kick. We’ll see.

Brash stereotypes ahoy!

Personally, I don’t think we should sign Arshavin. He’s from Russia, clearly has links with the mob.

Also, that Dutch midfielder we wanted would smoke too much dope to function at the heart of our engine room. That Serbian goalie sounds a bit dodge too - probably a cover story to get his family of 15 into the country

Thank god we haven’t been linked with that South American drug dealer Messi.

Seriously, have a quiet word with yourself.

Simon - you?re right, it was a brash stereotype and I apologise, it was not meant to cause offence.

However, is it any less true than the other stereotypes like Brazillians are skillfull, Italians are great defenders, Germans are efficient, etc. Oh that?s right, positive stereotypes are ok.

Anyway, I meant no offence and apologise for my generalisation.

Please tell me there is no truth in us trying to sign the waste of space, winging, over rated Pacall Chimbonda???

I can't stand this man! He had one good season at Wigan and then thought he was bigger than everyone.

I would rather have Hibbert than Chimbonda anyday and that's saying something!

We won?t get any big names... we will just beef up the midfield by retaining Fernandes (probably on loan again), Michael Bradley and Stephane M?Bia. Any other signings will be funded by the sale of AJ. Otherwise Moyes might look at either Wood or Beevers from Sheffield Wednesday. Hardly inspiring... as has been stated on neutral sites - we don?t really seem interested (or financially able ) in turning 5th place into 4th or higher. Top ten would be an achievement at this rate ... we seem to have four or five very injury-prone players.
