The Mail Bag
Pre season farce

When I paid the £17 to go to the Cambridge match, I had high hopes of seeing some new faces in blue. However, instead of multi-million pound signings I saw an unrecognisable team filled with kids. Is the squad really so poor that this is the best team we could have fielded?
Rodwell had a good 1st half but was anonymous in the second, Irving had a good game and O'Kane showed some neat touches but looks far too lightweight to figure any time soon.
No doubt Moyes will trot out the usual "it is all about fitness at this stage" but that does not really wash with me or probably the other 1,500 fans who turned up to see this farce. Van der Meyde is not even capable of beating conference defenders so don't be fooled by his recent promises. New signings are needed urgently!!!

Forget about new signings, forget about injured players and concentrate on the players who are available. They were all down there yesterday !
There were times yesterday when players like Jagielka, Arteta and Lescott actually looked just as good as their Cambridge opposite numbers.
Our skipper did let himself down a little and the two Andys might do better at new clubs.
Where do we go from here ?
Probably Kirkby?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !
I dont know when you bought your ticket Paul McGrath but if it was any time in the last two or three weeks then you should have known better than to have expected great signings etc. Things will get better.
"We must do better." Er... yeah!
Reserves or no?, had this been Liverpool, we would be laughing our arses off.
All this shows that morale seems to be down throughout the squad.
Unacceptable... It was pre-season for them as well!
Jason Broome - Unacceptable??? Really? Who cares - it?s pre-season, all that matters is that they?re ready to play Blackburn on Day One of the season, and I?m sure they will be.
You?re all acting like Geordies - you?ll be calling for Moyes out if we lose to PNE!
If you actually went the game and didn?t know what kind of line-up to expect, you must have been in a coma or something.
Bluekipper had the probable line-up on their site on Friday, not really a wild stretch of the imagination to think what the line-up would have been.
