Bored of the crap transfer rumours

Comments (9)

Every spare minute I get at work I check the rumours pages to see who Everton are linked to. For weeks now I have been either bored or disappointed with the players linked. And when I say linked, I mean players we have a genuine chance of signing.

Does anyone really think we will get Moutinho, cause I have a feeling its just another smokescreen to cover up the EGM that has been called or the Kirkby decision. The boards are full of talk of possible players we will get when other things are being pushed out of sight and sound. Kenwright and Co are great at taking the limelight away from them.

And why, except for Moutinho, after consistent top 6 finishes are we still linked to the same crap as Sunderland, Celtic, Middlesbrough and other mediocre shite, we're far better than them! I think this is finally the year I grow disillusioned with the crap our club comes out with to counteract the bad press of Kirkby, Moyes not signing a new deal, the lack of transfer activity and the fact we are totally skint! We should have signed players weeks ago and given them a full pre-season work out.

I think we will sign some players before the start of the season, but no-one good enough to push us into the Sky 4, and we will do it the "Everton way" ie, slowly, drawn out and with the chance of some other team stealing in at the last minute.

But Moyes gets the best out of the players from the lower leagues, so I hope for another top 6 finish... and I will continue to dream of the top 4.

Well it's all doom and gloom isn't it? The cost of fuel is going up so quickly, the price of your house is is plummeting quicker than Gordon Browns popularity, soon you'll be swapping your keys in exchange of a tank of fuel. BK's a clueless idiot, Moyes hasn't signed a contract, and we clearly don't have a pot to urinate in. Coupled with the fact that Everton's new ground may as well be in Southampton if it isn't in Liverpool. Your missus caught you scoping out the next door neighbours daughter and your dog just plain hates you.

This seems to be the life of most Toffeeweb's contributers lives at the moment. This place really has got that negative...

So shall we back to reality? Nobody knows what Moyes' budget really is, except Moyes and Kenwright. The same goes for transfer targets. Whilst I'm a little down that we've not signed anyone yet, 2 things spring to mind. Firstly, it's not as if we're the only team not to have signed anyone is it? And second, do we ever sign anyone early doors? I seem to remember that most of our summer signings have been much closer to the start of the season. I've never really worked this one out, unless it's to save money on players wages!

I'd also be happy to see AJ go if I'm honest. Who's to say that Moyes doesn't have a player in mind to fill his role? Who's to say that the £10m doesn't go to a bigger pot and bring in 3 or 4 big names?

All I'm trying to say is, calm down guys, let a little sunshine in to our lives. You may be suprised with the signings when the season starts...

....Back to reality.

....bring in 3 or 4 big names?

We can't even get Moyes to sign a £60k per week contract and he knows more than we do.

There is a lot of negativity around at this moment, some justified some not. Whilst I agree that Moyes and Co must have a game plan re new additions (6 mentioned as needed by Moyes) then whatever quality he needs to get a move on .
If you look at the squad numbers given out today there are only 18 outfield players , of which 2 are out for the start (Cahill and Hibbert), 2 have never even started a game for the 1st team (Rodwell and Gosling) and 1 is very likely never to start a game (VDM) . I supect given 4-5 friendlies to play that another 1 maybe 2 will have knocks.
This will leave us without any additions in the next 2 weeks with a total of 11 oufield
players available for the game against Blackburn.

Please please wake up and deliver at least 2-3 players by early August or our season’s target of Top 4 could be over by Aug 31st deadline - played 3 lost 3.

Very pessimistic I know (I’m normally too optimistic) but I’m feeling very uncomfortable with the squad size and player availabilities.

We surely need the majority of the new intake prior to the US tour so they can at least understand how we play !

We are all sressed out waiting for THE biggest decision in our history.
Our home.
Cracking up.
Can’t sleep.
Need a decision either way NOW.
I’m off to worship at my altar to Goodison Park, light some blue candles and start chanting my mantra

Don?t forget we have to name 7 subs this season, that makes 18 players in a match day squad.

We currently have 21 players listed, 3 of which are keepers, and as said above, 2 already injured (Cahill and Hibbert), 2 never started a prem game (Rodwell and Gosling) and van der Meyde (where do I start?).

If we are going to fight on four fronts this season, we?ve seriously got to strengthen now. 5 or 6 as Moyes put it is the minimum, but quality desperately needed as well as quantity. This all means money, something we don?t seem to have, unless we sell...... Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhh!

Why not Zigic if the rumour of £5m is true, could be worth a punt.

Devil’s advocate saying DM says 6 players but surely this is semantics - saying we need 6 players doesn’t mean we are going to get 6 players.

I whole heartedly agree with the comments. To add to the injuries how about Vaughan and even Arteta... both of whom are hardly match fit. It's a case of bread and fish to feed the thousands again. Dwindling squad and money spent elsewhere... our wage bill must be the least in the Premier. You get what you pay for in the end and obviously we don't pay as well as other teams.

I hope I'm completely wrong and I will be the first to acknowledge if I am... BUT, if we sign the five or six EXTRA players we need and hang on to those we have then I will change my opinion. We desperately need at least one big name and four or five good quality players to supplement our squad.

Moutinho alone would not be enough... we need a quality fullback and I would take Finnan if available or Chimbonda. We need a holding midfielder... perhaps one of the youngsters might make the grade or even adapt Lescott and play Baines at left back, plus three other squad players including a wide player who can cross the ball. I would like to see Moutinho, Huddlestone, Finnan, Milner and a decent foil for Yakubu. then at least we would see top football played on the ground.
