Is it all in the words?

Comments (17)

I looked at this quote from David Moyes and wondered who exactly is he targetting it at:

?I?ve been telling everybody this all summer that the numbers are short and we have injuries which may or not be fit for the start of the Premier League ? everybody is aware of that.?

  • Is it the board? .... to get their fingers out and support him.
  • Is it the supporters? To let then know its not his fault.
  • Is it the media? so that his reputation is not damaged by the lack of signings going into the new season.
Whoever it is aimed at, it is very disconcerting that he is showing no signs of signing his contract and, despite stupid comments from Wyness about Mouthino, EFC are showing no signs of signing new players.

[Please don't turn this into another Kirkby thing .... this post is about Moyes and the squad!!]

Moyes - no contract.
Signings - none yet.
Board - what next ?
Odds on all of above will change one way or another once the decision is made regarding the ’call in’.
I can’t be the only one out there who is ’hanging on by a thread’ for the announcement to be made.

Sorry Jay can’t help it.

In this morning’s Daily Post (a paper you can generally trust) DM’s also quoted as saying we’ll look to go right up to the close of the window like everybody else.
Like it or not this current market is stagnant and as I’m afraid we don’t exist in a vacuum then it’s as slow for us as everybody else.
I really wouldn’t read too much into it all Jay: last summer was the same and rather than get David Nugent in early we got Yakubu in late and I for one will be happy for a similar outcome this time round.
Now, where’s those rosary beads?

I was going to post the same thing Jay, to me it is saying to the fans "I'm not being backed by the Board". And I'm not against the Board in anyway at all.

Jay, I think Moyes is too clever to give a toss what the media think. However, on the board and supporters, I think you are spot on, on both.

Ah but it is a Kirkby thing:

The numbers are short is code for the limited capacity and the injuries bit refers to the well known dilapidated state of Goodison Park.

See, it all fits.....................

Any time (every time) anyone connected with EFC says something (anything), it is dissected to the nth degree looking for alternative meanings and ulterior motives.

When you say something, do you carefully analyse how your comment is worded or how it it is likely to be construed?

Jesus wept. I know it’s been a slow summer for news around Goodison park, but I swear to god that I’m reaching my limit on these non-news stories and the inevitable paranoia that accompanies them on these and other pages.

"Moyes hails nice weather". What does that really mean ? Does he mean that the weather at Goodison is nicer than the weather in Kirkby and he’s really trying to tell us that we shouldn’t move ?

Aw jeez, I just give up......

Once again on the same vein as most letters - There is a lot of negativity around at this moment, some justified some not. Whilst I agree that Moyes and Co must have a game plan re new additions (6 mentioned as needed by Moyes) then whatever quality he needs to get a move on .
If you look at the squad numbers given out today there are only 18 outfield players , of which 2 are out for the start (Cahill and Hibbert), 2 have never even started a game for the 1st team (Rodwell and Gosling) and 1 is very likely never to start a game (VDM) . I supect given 4-5 friendlies to play that another 1 maybe 2 will have knocks.
This will leave us without any additions in the next 2 weeks with a total of 11 oufield
players available for the game against Blackburn.

Please Everton Board wake up, find the cash, and deliver at least 2-3 quality players by late July (next week !!!!) /early August or our season?s target of Top 4 could be over by Aug 31st deadline - played 3 lost 3.

Very pessimistic I know (I?m normally too optimistic) but I?m feeling very uncomfortable with the squad size and player availabilities.

We surely need the majority of the new intake prior to the US tour so they can at least understand how we play

If Moyes goes who would blame him.he has do more than could be expected, but once again the board dither when it comes to handing him a decent kitty .Its not as if they didn’t know the window was opening. Bills good with words but short on deeds and yes hes broke our transfer record a few times but look at what are record buy cost compared to other top 6 clubs.

It does seem abundantly clear despite Ian Ross’ statement that everything is tied to the "decision".

On that note am I the only one who seems to think that the announcement date changes everyday, will it ever happen?

I believe the whole lot is tied to the stadium deal.
You can’t sign a multi million pound deal and it not affect spending.
On another depressing note, the stadium decision will not be made until next week at the earliest - see the Daily Post!

Just read it!, whats the betting that the final decision is made on 1st Sept when the window has closed.

Does anybody know how it works & when they have to make the decision by?

What really frustrates me and I have posted this on here before, is that why do we always seem to get rapped up in the stadium move during transfer windows? why not have all this debate & submission of plans etc during the season, that way come the windows we could concentrate on buying players etc! arrrggghhh

Kenwright is scandolous. His silence is deafening. This shitty stadium in out-of-town Kirkby is holding us back from pushing on and upwards in the Premier League. We qualify for Champions League revenue and the whole dynamics of a ground move shifts.

Focus on success on the pitch and the rest will follow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The harassment of the Joao Moutinho Everton is a reality and the British want to materialize the interest in the master unfair, but have already been informed that for less than 25 million euros the business has no legs to walk.

Joao Moutinho
ASF

This despite being Moutinho, the second found BALL, receptive listening to the conditions that the toffees have to offer.

The coach of England, David Moyes, long said to be leaders of the qualities of a apreciador Moutinho and even last Sunday in the Executive Director of Everton, Keith Wyness, said the A BALL that the club maintains interest in the Portuguese player.

The day before, the building Visconde de Alvalade passed the agent of the number 28, the Israeli Pini Zahavi, who held a meeting with the leaders leoninos, to sound out its willingness to negotiate one of its most valuable assets.

Zahavi, mandated by Everton, will have given the impression that the club from Liverpool could put on the table a budget of about EUR 20 million. In response has heard that the price is right ... 25. That is, the lions are irreducible and want to insure Moutinho until the right offer.

I doubt a lot of fans will take to Moutinho. Evertonians don?t like small players.
