World exclusive!

Here's a world exclusive of Andy van der Meyde in an Everton shirt actually doing something constructive.

I thought he was OK on Saturday, actually. Survived some pretty rough challenges. We were at our best when he was marauding up the right wing.

Oh dear, looks like he’s totally hammered once again! He’s lost every sort of balance when trying to walk the white line.

In other amusing news, looks like we know who the joker of the group is according to Rodwells preseason diary on the OS:

’’The Dave Billows interview had to be filmed in two separate locations after Nuno Valente spotted us underneath his balcony and amused himself by throwing socks and water at us!’’

Interesting that he’s managed to retain the number 7 shirt for next season (according to the new squad numbers just released). I’m not sure what he’s done to deserve that, but let’s hope he shows us that he is now worthy of this honour.

Probably has the #7 in his contract, like Raul at Real Madrid.

Did he manage to cross the ball over and above the near post? If so Arteta needs to start worrying.

From the two matches I’ve seen so far pre-season.

The first one he was one of our best players..

The second he was decent, later replaced by the new number 10.

Looking forward to watching tonight and seeing how he goes.

Will he slip up and prove most here right that he’s a waste of space or do well yet again?

I went to Cambridge and made him the best player on the park. Does that mean he?s turned the corner....or that most of the others were total crap?

I’m confused. Living in Great Yarmouth me and my old man don’t get to see too many Everton games. My dad made the Cambridge game (I couldn’t make it), and when I said to him "I hear Andy van der Meyde had a good game" he nearly choked on his beer, and said he was one of the worst players on the pitch! What is the general consenus on his performance as I’m hearing mixed reviews.

I suspect Lee you are hearing so many mixed reviews because people just can?t make up their mind on him.

Its like when Clinton Morrison plays for Ireland. A lot of the fans don?t like him they say he doesn?t work hard enough. Even when he scored important goals people would criticise.

I suspect it's hard for people to give him the benefit of doubt. He needs to play three full games in a row and score or assist for people to start taking him seriously again.

Van der Meyde was in and out. Moments of sheer class followed by 5 minutes of not seeing him. He’s a luxury player and he dissapears when the game is in your own half or your defending.

In the final third he’s a useful player. He can still go past a man, he showed some good link up play with his fullback and his crossing was perfect. As I’ve said before if he gets himself to the right level he could be a useful squad player, he’s got a long way to go though.

He’s put in two solid performances and has been one of our better players so far. He wasn’t one of the worst players by any means.

He still doesn’t sound like he has a 90 minute tank though and was tiring after his usual hour, how can a professional football player not be capable of 90 mins? Don’t give me the ring rusty shite or hasn’t played, well what’s he doing at Finch Farm? All players should be capable of 90 minutes or it’s pointless them being here.

Jimmy Rimmer: Moyes has a habit of only taking a shirt number off a player if they leave, or moving them up the squad list.
At one point he must have seen Andy as a regular, hence the no 7 shirt being given to him.

Gavin Ramejkis, VDM has hardly played for three or four years so he’s got an excuse for not being able to play 90 minutes. His body has become accustomed to sitting around all day and not playing week in week out. Obviously he’s only got himself to blame.

Ask any proffessional and they’ll tell you training is nothing like a fast paced, end to end match. That’s where you get your match condition and get used to the pace of the game.

Even the littlle ball boy in the background is looking up in amazement and rubbing his eyes to make sure he isn’t seeing pixies. Although he looks like he has had half of our midget gems for breakfest. That might be where the new players are going to be signed from. The plan of attacks is for him to go up and catch a player and then they get stuck in his flab.

Fantastic picture, it does look as tough he was doing some pissed up dance-like your-dad moves before slipping on a wet patch. Good stuff indeed.

Will be useful to have him in the squad this year.

Many will laugh and snarl at the suggestion Shandy will offer anything this season based on his previous offerings of, well, nothing, but, he?s certainly no Gascogine when its comes to the drink, his knees won't be gone because he?s just been lazy for the last 2 years, not career threatened by injury.... I have sneaking feelings Shandy and Arteta will be maurading down Everton's flanks next season.

What's the odds on him starting all our pre-season games? Must be good?

And if he does, what's the odds on him starting the home game against Blackburn? A game we should be fielding an attacking side in!

What's the odds on him making 20 plus appearances this season?

All I bet would have really long odds, but I reckon it would be a seriously good bet to make!

Yeah, great bets...if you fancy pissing your money away..

VDM perfected being a waster at Inter and he?s more than continued the trend here...

He should have been sacked a long time ago...the fact that he?s still here fills me with dread that we are indeed skint!

AvDM....like a new signing.. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Against Cambridge he was ordinary going forward (for a 1st teamer), and horrible defensively (even for a reserve reject). Time and time again he left Irvine on his own against their full back and winger, they got dozens of crosses in from that side. Any midfielder in an Everton shirt needs to get forward and then back with the rest of them... until he starts playing the Everton way he won’t make the bench.

He doesn’t know how to defend. I’ve actually seen him trying against Sion and Cambridge yet it’s a completely alien thing to him and it always has been. A big reason he failed at Inter is because there is alot of defending in Italy, In Holland he didn’t have to even try.

Van der Meyde is a wing forward, best used in a 4-3-3 formation where all he has to concentrate on is going forward. As I said he’s a luxury player who needs to be accomadated.

If he is to contribute next season then It’s going to be from the bench. If we are losing and we need to get a goal then he’d be a useful option. He’s got flair and at times he can pull off something special in the final third.

If he was to start I’d only start him in games at Goodison. He won’t get a game away from home as Moyes doesn’t trust him.

As has been said though he’s a long way off. Hopefully he just concentrates on his fitness and keeps his head down.

I was at the Cambridge game and VDM put in the most accurate series of crosses for the blues since Hinchcliffe. That is a luxury we can?t really afford to chuck out because someone isn?t much of tackler. (Paul Scholes?) I don?t see Arteta getting stuck in much, but then i don?t care cos he?s damn good at what he does.

Best thing on Saturday though was when the fella behind me asked VdM where his dog was and got a chuckle out of him and the rest of the fans.

Connor sorry to piss on your chips but even the slightest bit of research into VDM’s previous football teams he hardly played 90 mins for the last god knows how many years - this isn’t playground kicabout its football, I used to coach under fifteens that could play 90 mins twice a week, no excuses for this lazy bastard.
