Seven Subs

How will the new seven substitutes rule affect the game in general and of course mainly Everton?

They can still only play three of the seven, I assume??? I wonder who will be the first to suggest that it will be an added strain on our painfuilly threadbare squad...
You are, of course, assuming we have enough fit players to fill the 7 places on the bench.
Would there be a fine if you only had 5?
It’ll be a strain on our painfully threadbare squad (tee hee)
Can only see this as a good thing.
Gives managers the chance to put a couple of the youngsters on the bench and give them match-time in games that are already won (or beyond reach) whereas in previous seasons they’d only be a last-resort option if the more experienced guys were unavailable.
Could/should eventually have a beneficial knock-on effect on the national team.
Seven subs is actually the last thing we need... it?ll be an added strain on our painfully threadbare squad.
Do I win some kind of prize?
I think the seven sub ruling will be an added strain on our painfully threadbare squad.
Doesn?t really make that much difference really. There are no fines or penalties for not having 7, in fact I do not believe that it is officially necessary to name any subs. All it is is to bring England in line with the rest of European football. For the clubs with big squads it will help appease there players as it gives the illusion of making the match day squad even if they know they wont get on, i.e players who are 6th and 7th subs are 6th and 7th subs for a reason - they're not good enough (or fit enough in case of returning from injury) to make the first 16.
I think the seven sub ruling will definitely be an added strain on my painfully threadbare carpet. But with Shandy Van D Meyde about to set the world on fire again we might be OK. Off to Preston tonight so I’ll let you know tomorrow just how barearse we are.
I think everyone should just stick a post up with the words "painfully threadbare" in it somewhere.
I?m done.
Hope Preston proves enlightening Kevin!
I think the ruling will favour the monied (I nearly typed bigger!) clubs myself - they will have a bench stuffed with top internationals, so when they have a bad patch could just select the players they want with two midfield/forward/defence on the bench to chose from.
Could it also not stop the loans - such as Osman - taking place to get fringe players and youngsters ready for the first team?
Apparently according the FA website its going to be roll on roll off subs with russian keepers.
I e-mailed them to ask about what would happen in light of our small squad if we were unable to field a full team. They told me not to worry as they would just convert the match to knockout doubles with the winners picking who goes in goals next.
Hope that clears up the rule changes for next season
All this is going to do is play in to the bigger squads hands. Imagine the bench Mat Utd or Chelsea can now name, giving them two more effective options.
With our painfully threadbare squad it will only be an added strain
Sorry couldn't resist.
These photos of jessica Alba create an added strain on my painfully threadbare boxer shorts.

Bring your boots to the next game and you’ll at least get on the bench. Andy Van Der Lager’s even making the starting line up.
