Lockdown

As other clubs now start to make signings there is no still no sign that any activity is occuring at Everton to bring new players in or that Moyes will sign a new contract.
The club is clearly in a state of lockdown awaiting the outcome of the Destination Kirkby decision. This proves two things: firstly, that Ian Ross is incompetent or... ahem... worse and, secondly, that the DK decision is absolutely crucial to the club's immediate future.
I have said previously that most Blues will simply breath a sigh of relief if DK bites the dust, but clearly this will not be the case for the likes of Green and Earl. These two did not get rich by continuing to invest in a poorly performing asset and we could very quickly find oursleves in financial trouble if DK dies.
The one thing that really bothers me in all of this is that there are influential blues with more money then Bill Kenwright but none of them have come forward in the 18 months since Destination Kirkby was seriously promoted to offer to save the club from the horrors of Knowsley.
It really seems that we are the club no one wants which is very sad.
I stil think most Blues would now take their chances without Kirkby but it could be a very rocky ride indeed.
Finally, whatever happened to Madden and Dodd as, Destination Kirkby aside, I don't think anyone could doubt that there are serious problems with the way in which EFC is run at the moment?

I can assure you that Richard Dodd is alive and kicking and very much looking forward to the positive news that DK is a ’goer’.The fact that Davey is weighing up what is a very slow transfer market should not be taken as any indication that he is dithering or that the club has no funds available.
I suspect that fellow Evertonians are about to be very pleasantly surprised at what he is about to announce!
I have heard a rumour that a takeover is imminent and that is why no-one has been signed and why no transfers have taken place, dont know how true it is .... but watch this space !!
Richard you have an inside track on what is comimg out of Everton. As far as I can tell its zero. We are the only top club that has not signed any new players... If we do, how are they going to settle in to the team? We all know that it takes time to settle in.
John, if Everton?s financial security is tied in to the Kirby deal I for one will be very afraid if it goes pear shaped. If that means that Earl and Green pull out that could leave us high and dry with no cash, no transfers, breaking up the squad to pay the bills, losing Moyes and no sign of any outside investment. That scenario could send us into a freefall that we don?t recover from.
If Kirkby going ahead gives us the Green light (pardon the pun) to keep spending and for Moyes to keep building, I know which of the two options I want. If our fortunes are so inextricably linked to Kirkby anyone wishing for it to fail is surely misguided.
Barry - I know where you are coming from and it seems we are between a rock and a hard place ? short-term gain with Kirkby but possibly long-term loss of identity. I would feel a whole lot better about Kirkby if the transport issue wasn't such a nightmare
If the financial future of our club depends on Kirkby, then I fear for us because we will not be more viable when we move just even further in debt and if it turns out that way how long will Earle and Green wait before withdrawing their financial support as to be fair to them neither claim to be Blues, they are Bill's rich mates. There is only one person responsible for our undoubted problems ? Mr Kenwright.
Anyone seen the Wikipedia entry for Moutinho? The following paragraph has been cut n pasted:
In 2007-08, with Leandro Romagnoli (another attacking midfielder) also in the starting eleven, Moutinho, more often than not, moved from his natural behind the forwards midfielder role to right midfielder, where he still managed to deliver impressive performances. Towards the end of 2007-08, he was linked with a move to Arsenal FC, Everton FC,[1] Manchester United[2]and FC Barcelona.[3]. Media reports have suggested that Everton have made a 21.4 million euros bid for the Portuguese player. Moutinho will be officially unvielled as an Everton FC player on 25th July 2008 after Sporting Club de Portugal accepted an improved offer of 22 million Euros.
Here’s hoping they’re right....
Sorry, I wrote that last bit in wikipedia. It?s part of a self help book I?m writing where I have to visualise "success"
Do you all forget the position we were in before Bill took over. A red in Peter Johnson was in charge of my Everton. Signs on the kop saying ?Agent Johnson mission complete?
Along comes Bil,l a true blue like us all. Well off in as far as we go, In football terms poor...
Within the time he has been in charge we have gone from bottom table fodder to Europe.
I for one need to say "I am happy with the progress."
In Bill and Dave I trust.... coyb.....
One thing about Moyes he is not a slow learner. Mistakes made in the past are never repeated. One lesson well and truly learned is how to disguise where his real interest lies.
When Moyes first arrived his merest mention of a transfer target created a scramble with Newcastle leading the charge of clubs trying to gazump him.
I am loath to enter a who will sign guessing game but if I was to enter one player we should go for is Steven Hunt.
I fully agree with you Chris, I remember the summer Rooney left and we signed Marcus Bent as a replacement, I thought we were down for sure.... So I for one will put my faith in the chairman and manager again this season!!!
Steve Roberts, dont get your hopes up too much mate. I'm not doubting that were trying to sign Moutinho but I don't think he?s going to be officially unvieled as an Everton player this Friday as it says. I"d love to be proven wrong but I just can't see it, not yet anyway. I had a look at Manny Fernandes?s wikipedia as well and it said we?d signed him up for a season's loan deal with a view to signing him for 10 million euros at the end of it as from 12th July but I haven't heard anything about him being at the club?!!
If the reports are right and we have signed these plays and we are in the middle of a takeover which could well be possible as BK has not been heard from in weeks. We are not allowed to sign anyone and we are not allowed to sell anyone so with Moutinho he not be allowed to join untill the takeover is done. So unless something magic happens he won't be signing on Friday but maybe it will happen. Moyes was meant to sign a new contract this week as was reported on here with other big news, so let's watch this space...
I am not sure about any of you guys, but the lack of any NEWS or anything worth shouting about is getting to be a trifle worrying. Even Sunderland has started to make their move and anyone who?s watched preseason know that we?re nowhere near STARTING the season!
As far as I?m aware Phil Green moved on to pastures new a few months ago which is why there was speculation about the 2 further bank loans and where the money for Faddy went.
I hope there is a takeover in the wind and we can then see the club run properly from the top down and not haemoraging money due to incompetent management.
3 years in Europe out of the last 4 and we?re still £60m in debt and losing £10m a year.
Find it sad that people rate the serial liar BK and use his self defence "he’s a blue" bollocks - if DK comes off he will have damaged the club far more than Agent Johnson, the European ban and decades of RS success in one go - Herr Kenwright’s name will go down in history as one of if not the worst chairman in the club’s history. Do you know any blue that has ever said they feel pride when they hear the RS anthem? Kenshite out
I know this is no guarantee of anything, but last night I was on the Everton site ordering the new kit for my two sons. As part of this, I was looking at the squad names and numbers. Although the likes of Carsley have been removed, Fernandes was still available to put on the back of shirts (as was Gardner and Anderson!). Not sure where this leaves us, but maybe Fernandes at least is staying?
@ Chris Kenneddy,
I agree that progress has bee made under MOYES.
Kenwright however is an idiot,he has stripped the club of all its assets and now wants us to move to some "mid rang" tin pot stadium like wigans.
He fucked up the Kings dock,NTL, fortress fund and has told countless lies to the loyal support of this club. He dissapears of the face of the planet when the chips are down but is the first to present his face when something goes well. On the sale of Rooney , the prick walked down Goodison Road with a full Police escort in front of the national cameras for all the country to see. He has managed to survive with people like yourself who say "yeah but hes an Evertonian, one of us" Sorry but that dosnt wash anymore, the man is a clown and needs to shit or get off the pot.
Christ almighty!
Because we’ve made no signings...are looking as poor as mother teresa...and have the the boardroom acumen of a blind kitten...people have invented this possible takeover rubbish...
Talk about optimism gone into overdrive!
It is starting to bother me now that teams who finished around us are now strengthening with quality such as Pompey,City & Villa and we have trimmed the squad again. Like Moyes was saying a few days ago we need 5 or 6 signings but I do now think they have to be 5 or 6 QUALITY signings.
What I find so interesting is the comment Moyes made when he said "I’ve been telling everyone for weeks we need 5 or 6 players".
Who’s this mysterious EVERYONE?
The chairman?, Bully?, the money men (Green & Earl)? The Banks?
Something is going on and true to form, the fans will be the last to know.
Mark, get real... of course fans are last to know... that is why we are fans.
I think someone made a good point: Moyes has learnt to keep his mouth shut about targets and so have our PR team ? remember Vogel..... done deal.... I think not.
On the 12th of August EFC will be taken over by a German car firm who apparently will bring in new money for transfers and will begin operation Goodison Relocation.
You heard it here first folks.
Mr Source above -- I heard that one, but I think Trabant went out of business after the collapse of the Berlin Wall. We will know for deffo if a German car firm has taken over by the amount of beach towels draped across the best seats at 5.30am on a match day!
The silly season is in full swing!!
I admire your optimism, Peter Mitchell, but the only reason Fernandes's name and number is still on the shirt list (along with the 2 invisible men - Gardner and Anderson da Silva) is that somebody at Everton forgot to take them off... even though they have had 10 weeks to do so since the season ended.
Par for the course, sadly.
Mr Source, I heard Kenwright had bought a German car too. Was it actually given to him by this mysterious car firm?
Could it be that Everton don’t have any money? Is that why we’ve not signed anyone? I think this is far more likely than Moyes just keeping his gob shut.
