Same kjind of line-up as we've seen:

1Turner
2 Neville
3 Valente
4 Rodwell
5 Lescott
6 Jagielka
7 Van der Meyde
8 Gosling
9 Jutkiewicz
10 Arteta
11 Agard

No info on subs... The games "has come soon for Pienaar"? WTF? Don't they mean "Pienaar's fitness level is not high enough for today's game"? Saying it that way just sounds like the game has come as something of a surpise yet everyone knew it was being played today.

Altright, it's just another one of those stupid footy cliches that drive me mad... it's been a long hard summer... I'm losing it!!!

Interesting to see Baines has made the subs bench, I wonder if he’s fit enough to get a few minutes of match time tonight?

Up at 5.30am. Sorry I aint been here to commentate yet guys.

Just then we had a triple hit on goal.

Ball lobbed in from the left into penalty box.

Kieran had a difficult one to handle, but managed to flick it in on goal, then it came out again, Gosling point blank but a great block stops it.. Then a third from another player running in, I think Rodwell, and stopped again.

Damn close!

Van Der Meyde was down early, unfortunate injury.. Annoying as was looking forward to him playing (as strange as it sounds)

Arteta had a clumsy challenge from Hughes, just on the right side touch line. He did not look good, limped for ages.. Painful expression on his face.

But the he took a set kick 5 minutes later.

Went off for treatment and stayed off.

Half time. 0-0

Nice little play up forward but we just aren?t getting the touch once it gets into the penalty box.

Have just returned home from the game. Good attendance, almost 15,500. Also good to see a healthy Everton support. I was in the Brian Clough stand in front of a few other Evertonians!

Good game, we were by far the better side before the own goal. They put in a few very hard challenges, one of which ended Arteta?s interest. Shame to see AvdM go off injured. I think that sums him up now as he?ll be out for at least a few weeks with a hamstring injury that i feel kills off any chance of him having any sort of impact.

Excellent finish from Baxter. Rodwell looks calm and composed and I thought Gosling was very lively. Overall I think a good performance from a very inexperienced midfield and attack.

Was at the game last night - really good turnout from Evertonians (and home fans), I know we need new players, but Rodwell and Baxter looked really promising, and Gosling did pretty well. Wasn?t convinced yet by Jutkiewicz and Agard, but I thought AVDM looked pretty interested until he went off.

The most annoying thing was the fact that they didn?t have squad numbers on or names on the back, and the tannoy was worse than Lime Street - not so bad when the first team?s out but a bit confusing with all the youngsters.

All in all, a good display by the youngsters, they should be ready in a couple of years; unfortunately the season starts in 3 weeks.

I was at the game last night and agree with Paul about the tannoy system at Forest and its uselessness. No team info was given for the Everton team - but there was a lot of info about people’s birthday’s on the score board ! Thought our young players were very impressive - esp no 11 Agard who I believe ran himself into the ground and chased any and every pass that was played in his direction. I think he is one for the future as is Baxter.

I went to the game last night, I thought Rodwell did alright and Baxter’s goal was special, as well as some neat skills from him in the first half too. I was a bit concerned though that Moyes brought on the youth players for the injured players. Is he trying to blood them for the new season as he knows we’re going to be so light in numbers? Although there are signs of some good prospects I honestly don’t think any of the youth players showed enough to demonstrate they are ready to step up to Premier League standards yet. Anyone trying to deceive themselves by thinking we could make do with these youth team players needs to wake up - we really are screwed if we don’t sign some new players.

Also Baines only came on for the last 20 minutes. Does Moyes have a problem with him? Valente looks painfully slow and I would have thought whilst Yobo’s not playing why not have a proper look at a back 4 of Nev, Jags, Roger and Baines?

Where was Osman last night? Is he being sold too?

Alan,

I disagree regarding the quality of a few of the players on show yesterday. I thought Rodwell and Baxter were both excellent.

Rodwell is only young, but he really impressed me with how composed he is on the ball and his distribution with it. Far, far better than either Carsley or Neville. He looks 6ft+ too. The only question is can Moyes develop his positional sense and awareness of danger which Carsley seemed to have.

Baxter too was impressive. His goal was sublime and his dead ball delivery was superior to anyone else in the team.

Ideally we wouldn?t have to play these youngsters in PL games and could perhaps loan them out to gain their experience, but if we do have to play them I think although they?re not of the quality we would all want, they?re still both capable.

My main concern is up front. With Johnson on his way, our only fit Premier League quality striker is the Yak. Neither Jutkiewicz or Agard look to be Premier League quality. I think the jury is still out on Anichebe and Vaughan is injury prone.

As regards the first team players, I believe Ossie was still recovering from an injury (he was commentating on evertontv) and Baines has just got back from injury, so Moyes was obviously not going to give him 90 mins straight off.
