Cahill back in training in the USA!

Comments (8)

According to the OS Cahill is currently in the USA because his recovery is ahead of schedule. He can do some training this week. Now that's what I call good news! He'll be like a new signing!

In all seriousness: a fully fit Cahill at the start of the season and with Arteta's injury nothing worrying, added with the possible signing of Moutinho could give us some great midfield play like fall 2007? Oh, just imagine this midfield starting against Blackburn:

Pienaar Osman Moutinho Cahill Arteta

The Yak will get a dozen chances every match!

Ok, back to reality: Cahill and Arteta will probably break each other's legs, Moutinho will join the RS in two weeks and Pienaar and Osman will be knocked over by a physically superior midfield. But it's beautiful to dream!

Chris, some reports are suggesting Wyness is flying to Germany to meet with Galatasary officials over Memhet Topal. He might be doing the defending!!!

Isn?t there someone missing from your midfield? It is surely difficult to forget someone that just recently signed a 4-year contract...

I am also still hopeful on Manuel Fernandes arriving back at Finch Farm.

I think our midfield, even with the potential new arrival of Moutinho, lacks height and physical prescence. Although we may play pretty football, all of those little players will need to be tenacious if they are not going to be out-muscled and nulified.

Not to be a doom-monger but last time little Timmy was injured he rushed back and then broke a bone and was out for a substantial part of the season. We have been told repeatedly that Cahill won?t be fit for the start of the season ? and now we are set to lose AJ and have bought no one ? hmmm

Does anyone else think he is being pulled back because of a lack of strikers???

As said above, we?re still short of Moyes'S main priority which was a bit of height & physicality in midfield. We really need a holding or defensive midfielder and if AJ goes as its looking likely then we better be getting another striker..........

If you remember last season around the time we went on a little run, we all knew that our first XI was the most decent it has been for a while, but you need a squad & options if you are to be a top side. Well since then we have lost first teamers in Mcfadden, Stubbs & Carsley also you would have to say Fernandes doesn't seem to be coming back so from a small squad to start with we?ve lost 4 players who would of been involved in a lot of games between them.

I posted a column in June asking for patience from the fans who were getting over-anxious over the lack of activity but now I must admit the nerves are jangling a little, it would be such a shame to undo the hardwork & foundation that has been laid under Moyes by a period of inactivity... let's just hope he pulls a few Yakubu-type transfers out the bag, no-one seen that coming!

The silence from Goodison is almost defeaning with regards to transfer activity, however in response to John Lloyd although I too am getting a bit worried, both McFadden and Carsley will be playing Championship football with Birmingham next season, the former raising a good price at £6m, the latter a great servant to Everton, but he obviously feels that Division 1 is now his level. Moyes prefers to work with a small but tight-knit squad, without egos and a strong work ethic. By the end of the week though, nothing short of 2 quality signings is a must or the panic button will definetely be activated.

I thought ToffeeWeb readers might be interested in this video interview with Tim Cahill. It's been done by Football Federation Australia, but contains some interesting stuff about his injury, and his determination to get to the next World Cup with Australia, as well as his thoughts on Everton's EPL prospects at the end. It was obviously recorded before Tim was the surprise selection in the Everton squad for the US trip. Here's the link
