Meltdown?

Comments (20)

I'm an avid reader/contributor of ToffeeWeb and it sure fills in those quiet times of the day. Now normally one would say that at least this site is probably the only one that lets the moaners/ glass half-empty etc have their say... and then the optimists reply... and we all have a great laugh. EFC pull out the magic and we all can truley look forward again with optimism (ground apart!).

The problem I'm really sensing now is that it isn't only ToffeeWeb who is down in teh doldrums ? virtually all the papers, national and local, TV , Moyes, the players, supporters, Bluekipper et al are in a real morose state.

I sense that that either 2 things will happen in the next week regarding Everton -:

1. Bill will quit and put us up for sale to the best bidder, if any at all. Moyes wont sign and will start to prepare to leave sometime this season, and 4-5 players (Neville,Lescott, Arteta ,Yak, will demand to get away) - The MELTDOWN

2. We'll annouce to the world that we've bought Moutinho, M'Bia, Bradley, Milito, Topal and we'll all go home happy as can be, ready for Top 4 place after a bad start.

I fear option 1!

Well for one, Kenwright has already said many times that he is prepared 2 sell, providing he finds the right buyer.

Secondly Phil Neville has just signed a new 4 year deal and has got it far too cushy at us to want to move anywere! (although sometimes i wish he wud!)

Mike, your article sums up perfectly the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the hopes and fears, the optimism and the pessimism of being an Evertonian.

Unfortunately, there is a third option which is most likely: Bill Kenwright stays, the money seeps away but he still has his trainset, even if the points are stuck with a branch line heading into the siding. Then DM quits, etc. as you describe.

Until we get someone in charge who isn’t "just a supporter" like us, who has real money and real business acumen, the only way is down, regardless of DM’s fantastic achievements. Kenwright was the right man at the right time to save us from Agent Johnson, but his time has come and gone. Thanks Bill, now go.

Sorry Chris but in my opinion Kenwright has far more fuck ups attributed to him than agent johnson.
Kings Dock,NTL,Fortress Fund,Kirkby,Wyness, constant lies, Sold everything and has us in more debt than ever before.
Who actually believes a word that comes out of goodison anymore? (when there is any word)
Who will save Kenwright from himself?

Well said Alan Codd
and add to that the man only had 1 million to his name when he took over from Johnson and is ready to walk away with at least 10 times as much while "Not knowing what’s going on at the club because he’s only a fan"

After reading all the posts recently, I?m in a real dilemma. Do I cut my wrists or my throat?

Wrist at least ? that way, if it doesn't work, you won't have to wear polo necks all the time and drive a Volvo.

What is starting to p1ss me right off is that Mr Ross and the other pricks have said there has always been money to spend. Then why have we not signed anyone.I heard a radio interview tonight on citytalk and a news reporter actually said that Moyes put a request with 25 players on the wanted list.We should of had at least one in by now not only that it looks like there is NO money at all and Wyness will come out in the next day or two to explaine why he had left also quoting that it had nothing to do with the ground move or Mallorca which can only point to one thing.NO MONEY

Alan Codd what you say is spot on I think Wyness has shielded Bill from a lot of deserved flak now hes in the firing line maybe he will try to rectify his mistakes, but I doubt it

Alan,

KW has to take some flack as well, his goal was to up the turnover to 60m+, he was short by 9m last year, he sold or outsourced all our saleable assets and still failed to achieve his goal, never mind the constant lies about DK

I am getting really pissed at the lack of info coming out of our club. Why has BK not come out & explained KW's resignation? Do we fans not deserve an explanation? Is this the way to run the club? Does he just not give a fuck? What is going on with DK? Why have we not brought in any new players? What is happening with AJ? Have we now sold him or not? What's all this shite about Philip Green? What exactly is his role in our club? Has he invested money? How the fuck do the club hope to sell season tickets with all this going on?

It's about time Kenwright came out & gave us some answers, he really is an arrogant shite.

After reading the latest stuff on here, reading some of DM's quotes and then visiting the OS and "seeing" his face in a pic taken during a press conference.... and taking into consideration the "state" of our transfers (in and out) ? for the first time I can remember in a long long time, I'm actually frightened.

I'm frightened that we may just be witnessing the beginning of the end of our beloved Everton. Please God let me, and all the signs, be wrong!!!!!

You only need to look back at Barings to know that anything is possible.

There’s this J-League club I looked out for, Yokohama Flugels. Due to financial difficulties and poor economy this club went tits up in 1997 IIRC. The local rivals Yokohama Mariners are now named Yokohama "F" Mariners. Don’t know where I’m going with this, just saying all our history don’t count for shit if we don’t have controls in place and long-term business planning. Brace yourselves!

Brian Williams:

I agree 100%

For a club that has embraced the slogan "the People’s Club", they have withheld information from, lied to, and ignored the people who make it what it is.

One of the most powerful members of the club resigned, and the board feel they don’t have to explain why.

This is complete and utter bullshit.

@Jason Lam -- I can?t stand Yokohama F Marinos -- so defensive... never heard of the Flugels. I used to like FC Tokyo match atmosphere -- though Yokohama have a nice baseball stadium :)

Don,t shoot the messenger but i have inside information from a major supermarket chain involved in kirkby.
The move from goodison will not be happening in kirkby anyway and subsequently the money they were putting in will now not be added to your coffers.
Some of this money i believe was to be used straightaway for transfers

Maybe, just maybe, DM is using his favourite tactic he uses EVERY year.... the we don’t have money (although this story changes daily) tactic so that other clubs don’t think we can throw another 3m on any deal.... it is silly business to allow other clubs to believe it is a bottomless pit to be taken advantage of....
Thats the half full version...

If it is a tactic D.M and the board are playing to get players on he cheap it’s a dangerous 1.

What top class player would come to us at the moment. Rumors of meltdown at all levels and no statements from the club to reassure the fans.

Surely A top member of the board should come out wit a official statement, However judging from past statements ( no bid from fulham for A.J) it would probably be more lies.

Am a glass half full type of bloke but I’ve been waiting that long for good news it now needs a refill..

Imwt... As long as he stays anyway...

Just been on the Fulham fans site and it states a press conference has been set for tommorow at 12:00. Let's hope it's to confirm the AJ deal.

Chris, there is nothing on the official Fulham site about a press conference. Why do the likes of yourself make stuff up? There is enough confusion as it is!

I've read so many rumours this week that I don't know whether the set of glasses is totally full or totally empty. The events of the last 7 days need some answers and we need some reassurances against the rumours that are rife. Some Truth please, Bill!

From several sources I heard on Monday that Wyness, Moyes and Kenwright had had a real bust up. The following rumours also need some truthful answers.

1. Is it true that the reason our kit has been delayed is in because we couldn?t afford to pay for the stock?

2. Has our Head of Corporate sales also resigned in addition to Wyness?

3. Is Robert Elstone also considering his position?

4. Is it the case that our turnover figures are misrepresented by the fact that in recent years we have outsourced our catering and retail and by doing so received significant amounts of cash up front and now have no further retail / catering income moving forward? (Also, that service and quality has massively declined since then?)

5. Have we been effectively gambling on a ?successful? outcome of Destination Kirkby?

6. Was the ridiculous £11.8m bid for Moutinho an attempt to pacify the fans for a week or two in the hope that DK would not be called in?

7. Is it the case that the Andy Johnson money will be utilised to keep the club solvent?.

8. How are we affected going forward from a basis of season tickets mortgaged, Bellefield development falling through, Goodison Park being mortgaged, heavily financed development of Finch Farm, no merchadising or catering income and heavy debt? <{? 9. Why have we had 16-, 17- and 18-year-olds throughout pre-season and will they be integral parts of the squad with little transfer activity likely to happen.

10. Why has one of the best managers in recent history not signed a new contract?

Over to you EFC.
