Moyes 1st in the Sack Race

Comments (5)

Just read this article on The Independent website about Moyes being favourite to be the first Premiership Manager to be sacked this season...

Where do they get this rubbish from, BK will never sack DM, if anything DM would probably walk away cos of all the crap that is happening behind the scenes at the club - no transfer funds, no new contract signed. I'm getting worried now, as all the possible targets are moving to other clubs and with the season only a fortnight away time is running out!! It is essential that we get a good start to the season, otherwise we'll be playing catch up, and with the squad we have, we will not be able to compete in all competitions ? and they call this progress!!!!

I read in the Independent this morning that David Moyes is now 7/2 favourite to be the first manager to quit the Premier League this season, having been 14/1 two weeks ago. As an experienced but highly unsuccessful punter, I know that the bookies seldom get this sort of thing wrong. I fear a nasty shock is around the corner. I hope I am wrong as feel DM is vital to the club right now. He has plenty of faults but building a decent team on the cheap is his main strength.

Same bookies who had Harry Redcrap as favourite for England or the ones who had us as relegation favourites for 2003? The waiter, Scolari and Keegan will all be gone before Moyes. The Independent has been slowly turning into a bog roll for some time.

Wish peeps would stop saying how bookies are never wrong. They frequently are, the reason you never find a poor bookie is because for every winner they have a shed more losers.

They had Villa to pip us to fifth last season in the run in. Had us odds on to thump Oldham in the Cup. What odds were Italy and Greece to win the '06 and '04 tournaments? If a bookie?s odds was anything to go buy, I'd be a rich rich man now!! Just keep backing the favourite!

All the bookies know is how much money gamblers are giving them. If thousands of quid went behind me winning the National next year they’d have to make me favourite, just in case I did. If this madness continued, they would stop taking bets on me altogether.

So Moyes was at 14 - 1 to be the first was he? A few newspaper rumours about mayhem behind the scenes and the punters were queuing up to place their bets. Surprise, surprise, the odds came down. That’s how it works.
