DK Verdict Date?

Am I missing a trick, or were we promised a verdict on whether Desperation Kirkby would get called in or not by the end of July - after numerous delays that is? It's 2nd August... does anyone anywhere have any idea how long this will get drawn out? This feels like a cross between waiting for Christmas and waiting for a dental appointment. It's gone too far, I need to know if it's a scrape and polish or a root canal job. The uncertainty is killing me.... Someone give me a deadline?

Monday... supposedly. But then they've been saying "Next week" "Tomorrow". "in the next two days" blah blah blah ? for what seems like weeks now. My suggestion is this: it's not really like the dentist: you are not suffering, the uncertainty is certainly not killing you. You don't really need a deadline. I can assure you though, you'll find out about it when it happens... or soon after. Be patient.
Michael Kenrick, do you believe it will go to a public enquiry?
Cheers Michael. I guess on Monday we will get another "announcement due next week" then. I am not suffering, i am not suffering, i am not suffering... repeat ad infinitum...
Barry, I have no idea. Perhaps it will... perhaps it won’t. I don’t think anyone on these pages really knows, so we will just have to wait and see.
I know why don’t we all just forget about it until they make the announcement.
Why is BK still going ahead when so many supporters are against the move? I remember when I was young, my mum and dad [our family] had a chance of a house, we lived in flats in Kirkby; out of the seven of our family, two of us didn't want to move, so we stayed until we found somewhere were we all agreed on. So much for the "Everton family", your words Bill Kenwright.
It's no wonder they think a government enquiry will end our involvement. The time its taken them just to decide whether or not to send it in is just ridiculous. Two weeks was stated originally, then the following Monday. Its probably still at the back of someones filing cabinet. Just imagine how long it will take when the clowns down south get hold of it.
Been a joke. Sort of sums the whole thing up really doesn?t it?
With people watching the pennies, season ticket sales down everywhere, record fuel prices etc, is it really so wise to be getting involved in something that will have £78m cost bare minimum plus more if the Retail space isn?t filled. Empty shop units and even more debt.... We should be focusing our resources on the squad and redeveloping Goodison. Sucess on the pitch will ultimately drive up revenue as long as there is a credible business plan to take advantage of the success.
Just hope that Wyness knew it was going tits up and got out while he had some (very little) credibility left.
I don't want the Kirkby move anyway but if this runs to form Kenwright will not have the cash required in any case.
I spoke with Government Office this past week and was told a decision would be announced this week. Then nothing. The whole process is a fucking joke. As it turns out, none of this matters anway as there is no chance Everton can pull off this move. Long live Goodison.
Colin, how can you say "So many supporters are against the move" when the Everton family (selected members thereof) voted for discussions with Tesco to continue? The train can’t be stopped... but it can be derailed... and that might stop it!
"Everton sale if stadium gets go ahead"

Regarding the touted sale to big money investors from overseas, maybe KW thought if it goes ahead he was likely out of a job and so he jumped ship for Majorca? Then again, what do I (or anyone else) know about it all? It?s all speculation. We can only hope the Royal Blue shirts emerge on the other side of this muddle, pushing for 4th place or better.

Agree with you Michael on all the rumours flying uncontrollably around! Suggest that (given that we are going to continue to speculate) The Guardian story linked by Alex above (thanks Alex!) presents the most coherent, apparently well-informed, and not overly sensational account that I’ve seen of recent events.
It also suggests what I have been speculating about for a while - that Kirkby may well enable a new owner. But actually that is the least substantial part of the piece.
Neil P lets hope these mystery new buyers perform due dilligence and realise they need a transport plan to get anyone beside 1000 cyclists to the place in the middle of a credit crunch with fuel prices an utter disgrace. Maybe they could also look at how we have no marketing or retail or corporate attraction and how a small town away from the capital of culture with a history of massive unemployment and forty years of lack of investment by KMBC is suddenly shangri la.
We should do a Man U and make another new footy team like AFC Everton and they can play at Goodison. Get Big Dunc out of retirement for that!!!
Mike Kenrick makes a very telling point at 00:56:39. The Everton DK ballot was only a vote to approve discussions with Tesco to continue. Not for an all out move. Strictly speaking, we should have another ballot prior to the final decision being taken, on whether we should go ahead with what is SPECIFICALLY proposed.
Now, what was that about transport links, mid level stadiums, a car park I have previously described here as a clampers paradise, and a ground that has a supermarket jutting right up to it?
They know already but are to scared to tell you it's been called in. Wyness knew and when he realised he wouldn't be getting his bumper bonus (£1.7 million supposedly) he did a runner. Do you really think if it was going ahead Fathead would've left without his pay off??? No chance.
Chris, believe me, no-one is more anti-Kirkby than me. But the guys that own the shares are the people who should have the responsibility; it's by trying to wheedle out of this responsibility Kenwright has caused a massive split in the fanbase.
Nobody in GB knows more about retailing than Kenwright?s mates, Green and Leahy. Therefore we can take the suitability of Kirkby for retail development as a given. Trouble is the two master shopkeepers were reying on Kenwright and Wyness to put in the football marketing expertise. What a fucking joke! They haven?t even been able to convince their own fans it?s a goer.
Predicted outcome from GO: No call-in but stringent conditions attached.
Michael, I'm puzzled. You say we had a vote not for, to build a new staduim, but for discussions with Tesco to go ahead to build a new stadium in Kirkby????
It seems one or two people are on a mission to mislead again, here was the ballot question - "Are you in favour of relocating Everton Football Club to Kirkby? YES/NO" - clear as a summers day...

We need to get a move on! 1 senior forward (the Yak) and only 4 senior midfielders (Arteta, Osman, Cahill n Pienaar) going into the new season! PANIC!!!!! Only Everton could do that! The size of our squad gets more ridiculous every season! It’s just not good enough for a Premier League football club! And don’t tell me it will all be alrite and we’ll sign all these great players, because I’ve heard it all before and we’ve signed no-one. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum my arse!
Frank in all due respect the question was ?in light of the above......the club are minded? after the glossy sell.
KW charters words, now defunct..
The most valuable asset any Club has is its fans. The value of our fans here at Everton is unquantifiable, such is the loyalty and depth of support offered to this Club.
Sort of sticks in your throat now.
I'm afraid KW was right in saying that Kirkby is the only way for the club to move forward. Face up to it. Forget the sentiment and look at what is best for the CLUB ? not us fans as individuals ? in the long run.
Well said John, here here.
"Look at what is best for the CLUB"
John, couldn't agree more, that's why we cannot go to Kirkby. You cannot marry what's best for the club to Kirkby just because that's your belief. The facts speak somewhat differently, the architect of Desperation Kirkby has also jumped ship. There?s a saying about rats and ships you might wanna think about...
Was that this Monday Michael?
