Rossian Logic

Comments (24)

Can someone who perhaps understands the mind of Ian Ross help me follow the baffling "logic" of this statement? I've tried by adding some "between the lines" words of my own in italics... but that just seems to make it worse:

?To suggest that Everton will suddenly open its arms to any would-be investor or buyer should the 'Destination Kirkby? project be given a green light is wholly misleading simply because our chairman has made it clear at every AGM going back five years that that kind of search has been going on consistently during that time and will continue to do so."

?Bill has never attempted to hide the fact that he does not have the funds to move the club to where he and the supporters want it to be: at the forefront of the English game.

?Logic dictates that any club that can boast a stadium which is modern and capable of expansion will represent a more attractive proposition to investors. However, to suggest that there is some sort of link between confirmation of a move to Kirkby which would provide Everton with a stadium which is modern and capable of expansion and the prospect of serious negotiation with would-be suitors who would then obviously consider Everton as representing a more attractive proposition is totally wrong.?

Either I'm completely stupid... or Ian Ross thinks I am. Let's see... "drunken knobhead Evertonians..." yea... right. I've been on the Pinot... now I geddit.

It makes perfect sense doesn’t it?

We are open to a takeover, as we have been for a long time. A new stadium will make us a more attractive proposition.

But there are no current takeover talks that are dependent on DK getting the green light.

By the way, I’m only offering opinion on the question asked - not on DK.

My reading of it is, that he’s either saying ...
a) We have no new investors lined up with wads of dosh just waiting on the DK decision but we hope that the green light will attract some in the future
OR
b) We do have someone ready and waiting but don’t blame BK for selling because that’s what he’s been trying to do for the last 5 years.

Understood the guy looking to buy the bar codes was interested in purchasing Everton.... wonder what happened there then? Came up against the brick wall that was Bill Kenwright I expect.

Patty,

Why is it that whenever a proposed buyer emerges for one of our rivals it is consistently ?understood? that the buyer in question was interested in Everton?

If I had a few million spare and wanted to buy Everton then I might firstly ask the owners if they fancied selling. If the answer was no, then if I was serious about buying, I would then use the media to make known my interest and to put pressure on the present owners. What I would not do is forget about it and look to buy Newcastle instead!

Unfortunately we are not an attractive prospect for investment at the moment and I suspect this will remain the case whilst we continue at a decaying Goodison Park.

Hold one, am i missing something? But didn’t Kenright admit he wasn’t looking for investment whilst pushing for Kirkby?

What has been missed is the statements in the Desperation Kirkby applications by both the club, and more surprisingly Tesco, that the Board are not wanting to sell any shares post approval. It's there in black and white if anyone can be arsed to look.

This makes the application false/fraudulent, and if I was a cynical man, which I am, would see that as a tentative step towards easing out gently from a doomed project. Reading between the lines...

Totally off the subject but i’ve just seen Xabi Alonso at Finch Farm would be a good signing if it came off.

That would be a shock signing that Dave, reports in todays rags say he is off to Arsenal! The RS clearly want rid in order to get Barry in, but would still be a suprise for them to sell anyone to us!

Jean - I was not PRESUMING anything. It happened to be mentioned on Sky Sports that they had been interested in Everton but with no response had then looked at Newcastle.

I cant understand why you ridicule fellow posters who are only reporting what they hear when you post that the bullshit and stream of lies coming out of Goodison must be correct then mustnt it.

Does it now seem even slightly strange to you that almost every prem club has had an approach or been taken over except for EFC who Billy Bullshit himself admitted had had a number of approaches but they were put off when they found we were in the same city as Liverpool.

Does it also not seem strange that someone who has been "looking for investment 24/7" for a team that consistently finishes at the top of the prem suddenly even miraculously has Russian,Asian and Americans interested IF DK goes ahead.

FYI GP is not about to fall down or be closed down and with 40000 capacity is still one of the largest stadiums in the prem.
In fact the ONLY new stadiums with greater capacity are The Emirates and Eastlands that should tell you something.

Thanks Jay,

Firstly I am not ridiculing anyone. Also i have no knowledge as to whether or not approaches have been made to buy Everton during Bill?s reign. I?m simply bemused as to why any such purchaser, if they were serious, would choose not to make such bid public via the media?

I have also not suggested that Goodison Park is falling down or about to be closed down. I simply said that it is decaying which is sad but true.

Finally it does not seem strange to me at all, that if we were to move to a new stadium, then we would suddenly become more attractive to investors.

Patty, if you do a little digging you can find out alot more - you (and others) might find that you get much better information about these proposals by looking it up yourself rather than getting it 2nd hand on here.

The guy interested in buying Newcastle is Anil Ambani, if you havent heard of him, he’s the 6th richest man in the world with a fortune somewhere in the region of $42billion. He’s alledgedly offered Mike Ashley £260million for the club as a take it or leave it deal.

If they turn him down, its reported that he may turn his attentions to other clubs, one of which could be Everton - the others I think are Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.

There are other reports linking Lakshmi Mittal with a move for Everton - Mittal is the 4th richest man in the world and owns a company called Mittal Steel, one of the worlds largest steel suppliers. He has about $42billion to his name, dwarfing people like Abramovich.

Lakshmi Mittal would be fabulous for Everton but the problem is, that he owns a share in QPR and that could become an issue of conflicting interests should QPR make it to the Premiership. He would in that case, have to relinquish interest in one of the clubs, which would most likely be QPR.

None of this is hugely subtantiated mind you, apart from Ambani being genuinely interested in Newcastle.

Hope that helps.

*Mittal is worth around $45billion not $42 by the way, so a touch more than Ambani.

I just thought you were being unfair to Patty and I personally have lost it with the constant stream of lies emanating from GP.

I have to disagree with you about GP though.

GP is still one of the iconic grounds in the prem and for a relatively small amount of money could increase capacity and get rid of obstructed views.

It would obviously not be up to the standard of The Emirates but that cost around 300 million for the stadium.

But for 130 million I bet it would beat the pants off Kirkby Tescodome.

Jay, I hate to point this out at this juncture, but Everton don’t have a pot to piss in, let alone £130million for a ground redevelopment!

Fair enough Jay,

For what it is worth it will break my heart if we ever leave Goodison. Of the options available to us i would presently favour the following:

1. Redevelop Goodison
2. Move to a new ground in Liverpool
3. Kirkby
4. Stay as we are

Unfortunately options 1 and 2 will require major investment, option 3 is tearing our fan base apart and option 4 means we remain a small fish in a big pond.

For the moment i would just be happy if we made a bloody signing!

James Marshall,
If Mittal has shares in QPR would that not already be a conflict of interests? Thinking back to (that twat) Johnson; didn’t he have to put T Rovers in his girlfriends name? So, under Premiership / FA rules (whether QPR got into the EPL or NOT) Mittal cannot make a formal bid?

Barry - from what I?ve read on it today, it will only become an issue if both clubs are in the same division. I?m no expert but that's how the article reads. The rules may be different on this nowadays by comparison to how it was when Johnson had interests in EFC and Tranmere.

Mittal apparently will make a formal if the Kirkby project gets the green light - he will then set about making us Premier League winners and Champions of Europe...... apparently.

I totally agree.

I was just drawing the comparison between spending £130 million on GP and throwing it down a blind alley in Kirkby.

Not been online for a few days so still caching up. This Mittal thread sounds like absolute bollocks. No-one gets to be worth that much if they fucking invest and pull out that quickly.
He?s in there with his mega rich mates to build that London club up.
Give em 5 yrs I say and watch where they are then.
Wake up an smell the coffee guys an gals.
Billy Liar is the reason why we ain?t bought out by a billionaire, but I agree that DK verdict may sway some dodgy Russian oligarch to come along.

Matt, we’re merely commenting on some relevant news stories doing the rounds - I dont doubt they may be untrue but there does appaer to be some truth in it. Ambani is quoted as saying he has interest in Newcastle and possibly Everton among others.

Mittal has also said he’s looking to further his interests in English football so you never know.

Oh, and I like to dream in these dark times!

James, took your advice and rather than accept 2nd hand info on here... found the article you might have found on ?goal.com? word for word.
ps: I think it says he?s worth $51 billion but hey.... loose change difference so no matter.
Anyway, to the point..... BK will only sell to those he feels worthy of inheriting his legacy(???). Will this discount everybody?
