Name that team

It seems from the postbag that Kirkby is not the only issue dividing supporters at the moment. With regard to transfers we are split among optimists and pessimists. Until two weeks ago I would have been among the former... not any more.

So, here's a challenge. Would anyone care to predict what our team will be on the opening day of the season? This is my guess: Howard; Gosling, Lescott, Jagielka, Yobo; Arteta, Neville, Osman, Pienaar; Yakubu, Vaughan

On the bench? The rest of the squad.. I don't doubt we'll have a couple of new faces in but I suspect they will be in DM'S boot camp till mid September. Actually it doesn't look a bad side. I feel better already.

My team would be: Howard, Neville, Lescott, Jagielka, Baines, Rodwell, Pienaar, Arteta, Osman, Gosling, Yakubu.

An experienced back four with Rodwell sitting in front and Gosling at right mid in a five man midfield. Not sure how match fit Yobo will be but, if he isn't, I would swap him for Rodwell.

Howard, Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Baines, Jagielka, Arteta, Osman, Rodwell, Pienaar, Yakubu. Jags in the holding role and Rodwell central as he hasn?t got the discipline to play the holding role just yet. I trust that won?t be an option though as we WILL have more to choose from come the 16th. Please God!

As Vaughan is suspended for the first three games of the season, it’ll probably be Yakubu up front on his own. Though I’ll remain positive and state that we will sign Moutinho and Smith.

The voice of Everton FC, Phil Neville has taken it upon himself to announce the team to play Blackburn for the opening game of the season!

Speaking to the OS yesterday, Neville says,`....the players that are here (in USA), regardless of who the manager brings in, are probably going to be the team that starts against Blackburn`.

So that looks to me like:- Howard; Yobo (Gosling), Jagielka, Lescott, Baines (Valente); Arteta, Pienaar, Neville, Rodwell; Osman and Yakubu.

Pip rarely gets a shout wrong so I think we can assume that`s it. Kinda frightens me ? how about you?
