Bill and Transfers

Comments (36)

If the morning reports are to be believed, then Fulham seem to have got Andy Johnson from Everton on a reduced fee from what was originally agreed. Now when Michael Ball was at Rangers, Everton were due an installment, but poor old Rangers cried poor and were excused the fee due. Same when John Oster was at Sunderland, a fee was due to Sunderland but they cried poor, and were excused. Wayne Rooney left for Man United (not for less than £50 million Kenwright said)... again the fee was reduced.

Now it doesn't take a clever person to put 2 and 2 together and see that, whenever BILL KENWRIGHT is involved in a transfer negotiation, EVERTON get shafted! How much money this man has let go through the club's hand's only he knows. Is it any wonder that the club, especially when it comes to transfers, is a laughing stock among other clubs. The sooner Bill leaves the better the club will be.

Well it's probably about 15 hours since Bill said something would happen in the next 24 hours.... let's give him poetic licence... he meant tomorrow... which gives us 13 more hours..... was this Andy Johnson leaving or us getting signings???

Why did he have to do it? Let us come on the forums and bitch and moan but please don't get our hopes up - they're high enough to start with.

I actually felt re-assured after seeing his interview, but having slept on it and read some contributions to other letters, I'm back feeling like it will never happen. Bill went down in my estimations when he said some rubbish about how he was sacking a friend when Walter left. Let's be honest Walter had taken us as far as he could and we all knew he had to go... but Bill's "the King is dead, long live the King" really pissed me off.... just sack the guy... don't make it a theatrical performance!

Anyway back to his interview.... Ian Ross will have to go into overdrive tomorrow morning I suspect...

That exactly sums up my point of view.

Where do you get your information that we just let the debts slide? No business would do that EVER, reduced installments possibly or even an extension of time, but nothing? I highly doubt it! Also, we were never going to get £50 million for Rooney, and Utd wouldn't get that now if they sold him.

Just reading on the Echo website that apparantly both Moutinho and M?Bia look like they will be staying at their clubs.

Sporting value Moutinho at £22m (double what we offered), whereas M?Bia states that Rennes want him to stay and that he is happy to do so.

I wonder what other players BK was drooling about in his Sky interview. Alan Smith or Darren Fletcher ?

Jamie,

Its worse than you think. Kenwright actually wrote the Oster money off as a personal favour to the then Sunderland Chairman, Bob something or other!

I remember the Sunderland fella going on about it in the press, how ours was a "personal favour, that Bill did for me" whilst LFC, who only allowed them to defer a payment on money they were owed, were given lots of praise and pretty much credited with saving the club!

The man just cannot be trusted. Why oh why Everton just don?t get on with signing player?s like every other club and not have this stuff like a budget was always in place etc etc yeah? Well how come that a player has to be sold first in order for other players to come in? Billy Liar indeed....

I have no idea on who or why people were there but there were a couple of cars and a few young blues with pens & posters/calendars sat waiting outside the Malmaison about an hour & 1/2 a go. Could be an existing player or former player or anything but if there is a press conference at 4pm it could be happenning there. Is nt that where the RS showed off Keane last week?

It’s a joke, the injury that showed up on AJ’s scan was caused during his childhood apparently and has never affected his football career or fitness, so Fulham are just taking the piss! They tried to do the same with John Carew and Marlon King, but they got told to do one and rightly so. It’s not as if they’ve had any injury problems this past year is it? I’d love Fulham to get relegated this season, just a horrible little club with no class.

Just read that on the Echo website myself, dread to think who we will be looking at now. Why can't we seem to conclude transfer dealings quickly like Spurs did with Bentley? I am sick of everything being dragged out into a long saga at Everton.

Looking at the AJ transfer, it look?s something like £4 million now, £4 million next year, £1 million if AJ scores 20 league goals, £1 million if Fulham win the FA Cup, League Cup, £ million if AJ plays 20 times for England, £1 million if fulham win the League... etc etc It will soon come to the stage where it will be more profitable for Everton to let the opposition win/score against us as opposed to actually winning the game! [Hope no-one important is reading this...!]

What I don't understand is why he would admit that Moutinho is the clubs major target. Surely that just completely screws over our bargaining position (assuming we had one to begin with).

Automatically it puts unnecessary pressure on the club to deliver that particular player and now the Sporting chairman knows this so its no surprise they?ve released a statement saying he's staying.

What's actually going on is any hope of us getting him at a lower price is disappearing down the plug hole.

It?s almost 24 hours and Johnson hasn?t signed for Fulham yet. We should pull the plug. But then again Fulham know we need the cash and are taking the piss. Seems like we don?t have any dignity left. We're becoming like the barcodes. Fucking laughing stock.

Can anyone remember a Summer like it? It is seriously damaging to your health.

All these rumours, counter rumours, bluffs, claims, accusations, flotillas, taxi rides, plane journeys. Im just about sick of it.

And just when you think things cant get any worse, you get Blue Bill raising the stakes again last night on SKY .

Now I've always loved Blue Bill, but if this raising of morale speech of his comes off with no result, I would imagine he would have lost 80% of the support from the crowd.

I'm waffling now, wake me up when anything concrete happens. And I havnt even started on Kirkby and the flaming GONW.

Jamie - pretty much every transfer these days is tiered in some way. Very rarely do they just go through with one lump sum. All those add-ons are very common in today's market, its the reason transfers are long drawn out affairs with agents getting their bit and the two clubs having many clauses to discuss and agree on.

This isn't news mate.

Just watched the video of BK on Sky sports telling us to watch this space. Does any one else have the same feeling as me that we ai't going to sign any one before 16th August. I think we have no chance to sign Moutinho and Alan Smith, you must be joking. I think DM probably thinks he can get the best out of smith but he is on £60k a week and we aint going to offer him no where near that so he won't come anyway!

Wayne - It is common knowledge that we tabled a bid for Moutinho and it was knocked back. No point denying it.

Seems clear to me that Sporting are in no rush to let him go, so I’m not sure why you think we can get him on the cheap. I wish I had every word you had uttered over the past 48hrs to pick through, I could probably make you sound like a fuckwit too. BK is a bit of a foolish romantic and his business acumen leaves a lot to be desired, but you’re just clutching at straws now. Wonder why nobody wants to invest? With friends like these....

James, you?re right every transfer is tiered - only problem is we start talking £13million, then we look as though we?ll perhaps get £10million, then we start talking about what we?re going to do with the money, start trying to spend it before we get it & then get held to randsom for £4million now & £4 later, sorry meant £4million later unless like said previously, we start feeling sorry for other clubs & decide to let them off as a favour.

I think the longer this Moutinho transfer drags, I can just see another club coming in having their bid accepted and within 48 hours he?d have signed for them. I don't understand the way we deal with our transfers, we seems to take weeks, whilst other clubs for example Real Madrid had Van der Vaart signed within 24 hours, no messing around. I saw the BK interview on Sky and it did sound like something is close, so I hope he doesn't raise all our hopes and let us down.

Some people are getting there tits in a twist and not reading the article in the Echo properly, just like they got Moyesy?s comments arse about face the other week. Moutinho hasn't exactly come out and said he wants to stay, far from it, he still wants to leave and come and play us, it's Sporting Lisbon?s club president that as said he hopes Moutinho won't leave and that the club wants him to stay and Sporting are asking for more money than before now (£22m they want now apparently?!) and are trying to price Everton out of a move.

Although according to Portuguese press Everton are close to agreeing a 17 million euros deal rising to 21 million euros dependent on Everton qualifying for the Champions League within the length of Moutinho?s contract with us?! Like Kenwright says, watch this space?!

Maybe once (or IF) AJ goes, the ball will start rolling with regards to the Moutinho deal?! With regards to M?Bia, he probably wont be coming as he himself as stated he is willing to give it another year at Rennes! There?s still a week and a bit to go before the Blackburn game and I'm pretty sure we?ll have one maybe two new signings in for that game and possibly two or three more before the deadline is out!!!

Interesting, isn?t this the same Chairman that presided over the £2.2m for Cahill, £2.8m Arteta, £2.5m Pienear, £4.5 Jagielka, £3.5m Neville, £5m Lescott!!!

My god that guy's crap at striking deals isn?t he!?! Let me guess all of those were down to Wyness. I think this guy is shrewder than a lot of people give him credit for.

The echo?s saying that Moutinho & M?bia are off now, well it must be true then. Also The Sun says Smith is on his way so again must be true.

It's all rumours and conjecture people.
