Nigel De Jong

The player Kenwright was claiming to be watching over the weekend was apparently Nigel de Jong of Hamburg. He is a versatile defensive midfielder who can also fill in at right back. Kenwright said a few players have not made the papers yet apart from Moutinho. I am not one for the rumours but I really think this one might be true. Also, De Jong has been in London for the Emirates Cup. I think he would make a good signing personally.

Jamie, where is the link for this information, or did you just make it up.
I see Ljunberg has left West Ham and is available on a free at 31. Now without being a fm it does look interesting.
If De Jong would join it would be a very good signing. As for Ljungberg. No no no no no no!!!!!
I very much doubt a player like Nigel de Jong coming to Everton. Knowing De Jong (and a lot of other Dutch players), he’ll see Everton not as a step forward, and I even doubt Everton can pay his wages. As for Moutinho, I think he’s using Everton to get away from Sporting. If we could sign either De Jong or Moutinho it would surprise me very much. As I said before, Everton should not be chasing this kind of players. The chance they’ll join us is too small. I think even Kenwright knows by now if you’re going to attract those kind of players you need big investment to get the club forward and break into the top four. As long as this doesn’t happen, Everton shouldn’t be after players like De Jong and Moutinho.
OK Ralph, I’ll play your little game with you. What type/class of players should Everton be trying to sign? Bearing in mind that our aim is no longer trying to avoid relegation. Suggest a couple of names that you think Everton should be after
Ralph,
The only reason the club should not waste time chasing these players is if we dont have the money(or willingness) to pay the transfer fee or agree personal terms.
I dont know about De Jong, but Moutinho has already said that he’d be happy to come to Everton.
Is De Jong up for some West End performance? Because what the hell does Kenwright know about scouting???
Alisdair:
i’m a season ticket holder at Roda JC who play in the Dutch Eredivisie. I see a lot of players every season and only a few I would recommend to a club like Everton. I can call the names, but I doubt any of you have heard of them or seen them play. Actually during last season, it rumoured that even Everton scouts were at some games in the Eredivisie, but I guess they were not impressed. Strange, actually.
This kind of post is pointless, sorry to say, if we sign anybody this transfer window, i will eat my shoes..... The camera man had it just right when he coughed out bullshit when he pulled the camera down after the interview....
I have nothing against Bill Kenwright we have a lot to be thankful for after the Johnson era....
but i just wish he would tell it straight instead of playing this little game of charades that he does....it’s ridiculous...!
and Alan Smith....omg....NOOOOO
If i am wrong i will eat my shoes....but Do Jong would be a great signing....
that should be De Jong.....by the way...
I cant help but feel this is another case of pie in the sky - not only is there zero links on the Internet regarding Everton/De Jong, but yet again he’s a player being linked with Newcastle before us.
Every player we’ve been linked with in the past 5 years has been linked with Newcastle as well - why?!?
De Jong is quoted as saying he wont join Newcastle so where the link to us comes from is beyond me.
Now wtf is going on with Johnson, Smith and (ahem) Moutinho thats what I want to know?
AJ gone official according to sky sports
I wonder if we will spend more than 10.5mil this summer?
I personally don’t think we will.
Well I wouldnt read anything to all into Bill Kenwrights Sky Sports interview on Tuesday night.
He mentioned in the interview that Andy Johnson would have completed his move to Fulham yesterday, correct me if Im wrong but that deal is still not done.
As for last weeks statement about signing players before the season starts, well thats just pie in the sky Im afraid..
There is no way we are going to have anyone in at the club ready for the Blackburn game now, takes to complete a transfer these days averages between 5 and 10 days sometimes even longer.
Im not sure it was De Jong Everton were watching, it could have been any number of players that participated in friendlies.
I dont think Everton will bring in any of their first choice targets now, Kenwright has virtually told us already that we cannot compete with the top four (which we knew already) but I think he is just trying to soften the blow for when the transfer window closes and we have failed in our bids for Moutinho ect ect:
I think at the moment I will take a few numbers because we are in a desperate situation regarding our squad and anyone who thinks otherwise clearly hasnt watched Everton or Premier League football for a long time.
I was the one who said we needed to start signing players back in June when everyone else kept on with the drivel of ’its early days, its early days’. Now look at the situation, at least nobody can say its early days anymore.
Yeah just read the same sthing Fran, well thats a good bit of business, probably the best BK has ever done - AJ isnt worth £10.5m let alone £13m.
I have a horrible feeling (and this is coming from the bloke who has been consistenyl optimistic all summer) that we’re not going to spend anywhere near £10.5m.
KK has said the Alan Smith rumours are bollocks and that he rested him due to an ankle knock.
Franco at Sporting has said he’s optimistic Moutinho will stay with them, though the player has been left out of first team training this week which is interesting.
Tony, I’ll correct you because apparently you’re wrong! ;)
It’s late days, It’s late days !!
Tony, I would like to correct you because apparently you’re wrong! ;)
Amidst the welter of mail about the DK matter it seems to have been overlooked that AJ has STILL not signed for Fulham. BK said about 3 days ago that it would be completed in 24 hours ?? It seems that we are having trouble both in buying players and also selling them. As everyone is fully aware that we are cash strapped it smacks of vultures around a carcase...what an absolutely sorry mess we are in...its the worst debacle I can remember..we finished 5th last season and teams that only just avoided relegation are more active in the transfer market...we cant afford anyone who is wanted by any of the top teams and we’ve been told time and again that we only want quality players...our squad is threadbare and to even mention players like Alan Smith is insulting..he would just be another stopgap..same as Gravesen, Stubbs coming back and Gardner on loan...it seems that every ’Yozzer Hughes’ can get a job with EFC so long as he costs very little. DM has made some shrewd signings and he is obviously a great motivator..BUT we still carry a lot of dross and we have done for years..Im including Duncan Ferguson who stayed far beyond his sell by date..VDM (of course)...we even showed interest in the likes of Savage for Gods sake...where is the ambition of this once great club that has spent more seasons in the top flight of English football than any other. Im sick of us becoming a joke, a soap opera..run by a boardroom of Laurel & Hardy characters. Im insulting L&H they were funny. It seems that Wyness knew something we didn’t and a lot of what went on behind the scenes smells of rats and sinking ships.. Ive tried to look at things optimistically but day by day the season draws near and nothing is happening..Our side trolled off to the states and had a jolly over there while back home is in chaos..get a grip and quick !!!!
Oops, site went mental and ate my response, then I posted it again sorry!
Oh well thats Johnson gone then, just another nail in our coffin this summer..
To all those idiots who think we wont miss AJ for the coming season just watch the season review from last season and see the option that AJ gave us and I am not talking about just goals I am talking about the headaches he gave defence. We will miss him just as much as Carsley.
Now we can sit back and watch Everton bid 2 million pound less than the clubs are asking for their players and our supposed top targets..What a disgraceful summer so far for a club that finished fifth in the league..Disgraceful..
I would personaly like to kick anybody making up rumours I am not in the mood. We have signed nobody, lets all go into a darkened room for a month and come out again after 31st August deadline.
I would personaly like to kick anybody making up rumours I am not in the mood. We have signed nobody, lets all go into a darkened room for a month and come out again after 31st August deadline.
Just to reiterate - AJ HAS BEEN SOLD TO FULHAM FOR £10.5M.
So why dont we now go and make a proper bid for Moutinho and one from Darren Bent or Arshavin??? Ooops I forgot we dont have the money do we Bill??
I tried to buy Arshavin last night on FM, the deal was all set to go through, I even agreed personal terms with the player but then at the 11th hour, the board wouldnt cough up the £6m fee for him so the deal fell through - prophetic?
We wont get Arshavin anyway, I thought we’d all put that one well to bed Tony. You’re right about Moutinho though.
De jong is a very good footballer, i’d be realy pleased if this one comes off. IMO he’s a much better player than engelaar, who we were supposedly after
Give the board time..I mean there is still more than enough days left in August to sell Yakubu yet.. Lets be honest would anyone put it past Everton Football Club??
In relation to signings, I posted this time last week that we shouldn’t panic until next week if nothing happens on the transfer front. I think its safe to say that NOW is the time to panic. With only a week to go before the start of the season and the turmoil we’ve endured thus far, I fear there’s worse yet to come. Hell,my rs mates are rubbing salt in my already painful wounds : (
ps. Whatever happened to that yank Bradley that was so eager to join us a few months ago?
Anj:
I know Everton scouts were at the match Ajax-Heerenveen last season to watch Bradley. Bradley got sent off in that match. I guess Everton think he’s not good enough, ’cause they never made a bid.
So there goes our number 8. Is this going to solve hoofball? Maybe, or maybe we’ll get players like Pip and Hibs who ditter too long on the ball to eventually lose possession in our own half and open to the counter-attack. Sorry we don’t have the money to replace crap players so what so we do? We fucking sell our fastest, most industrious forward - and keep the crap players who pull the strings from the back!
The slowest team in the Premiership just got a hell of alot slower! Lets hope Vaughany learns how to tackle and npt hurt himself every 5 minutes!
Anj, you think that’s painful? Well my rs mate has actually invited me to start supporting Liverpool FC.
He was serious about it, no face pulling, no mocking. Like I needed help or something.
Fucking shit what a pre-season we’re having.
James, so Yak on the bench is it? We will always play 1 up front with Moyes. We may see Vaughan up front on his own when (not if) eventually the Yak ’moves on’. Fucking shit.

we’ve got 4 senior midfielders and one senior forward going into the season, what if we get a couple of them injured? Wer fcuked! I dread to think about the derby at Anfield when we’ll have a very much depleted squad at that stage, they’ve probably got twice as many players as us! There may well be some other horrible games when we get overturned by a few bottom half clubs, because they will beable to bring in fresh players. I can’t believe David Moyes! He didn’t have to spend much just a few experienced players on the cheap so the likes of Rodwell and Gosling don’t get thrown in at the deep end in big matches!
God help us when an African International weekend happenes. With our barebones squad, we will be without The Yak, Peanutts, Victor and Yobo and any injurys they may pick up. I fear relegation and im NOT JOKING.
Jason, I was alluding the fact that we dont have pace up front, or anywhere for that matter - much as I admire the Yak, he aint exactly Usain Bolt is he!
Anthony, I thought we had 3 senior midfielders? Who is number 4, please tell me there’s a 4th?! Pienaar, Arteta, Osman.......Cahill is injured so I make that 3!
How do you know its De Jong you tit? How many games were played over the weekend? I’ve just heard a quality loads of bollocks one before Alonso £15million wot a load of bollocks i don’t think we’ll sign anybody
Evertons squad was skinny before the sale of Johnson but you can officially say it’s now annorexic. Reading who everton are chasing and who they can actually catch are sadly far apart. That poorly scheduled African nations cup will be armegedon day for everton f.c if they dont become more agressive in the transfer window soon before the hijacks appear soon on these targets.
How do you know Everton are after De Jong. The Post said its apparently him. Ok, how do you know this? or have you just guessed/made up a rumour.
If BK said we’re after a few the papers hav’nt talked about, why would he then say who he is after.
This post is a load of bollocks yet i’m surprised no-one else has bothered to question it either.
What about the imminent arrival of koumas, nugent and richardson, I have no real info to clarify this however they are all 3 football players who might be available.

4 including crocked Cahill lol. Compare that with any other professional team, I think Tranmere have got about 8 or 9, but Everton, a "Premiership team" have only got 4! What going to happen as regards to our usual tactic of 5 in midfileld this season, if worst comes to worst Neville can fill in...oh wait a minute no, because Einstein Moyes and Baz left Hibbert on against Arsenal with ligament damage so he’s out for the first few months aswell! I can’t see it working personally especially going into the season with 3 first team midfielders fit (assuming no-one gets injured against PSV), unless Gosling and Rodwell are thrown in at the deep end which would not be fair to put them under that pressure from the start. I wonder if anyone else is going to leave, because Moyes just seems to let players leave and doesn’t replace them! What a great manager he is after all ey! I know the moneys tight, so why can’t he do what other clubs do and bring players in on the cheap if we can’t afford anyone else?
Isnt Steven Peineer De Jongs best friend?
No idea Tom, you’d have to ask Steven and Nigel!
SKY money and the Bridging loan. What the hell has happened to all this? Does anyone have any ideas as to what the hell we are going to do with the SKY money?
Ultra reliable source this obviously....

John Oster’s going to Palace.....thats about as close as I can get to anything Everton related in the transfer market!

If we do end up buying Alan Smith - can we do a Fulham & knock down the price cos KK has admitted that he has an ankle problem.
