Moyes not blameless!

Comments (15)

Whilst it`s `Kick Blue Bill`time with Evertonians - both of a Yes and No persuasion, I cannot accept that David Moyes is totally blameless in the situation that sees him without any re-inforcements for the new season. At the very least he has been compliant with Kenwright and Wyness in building the hopes of the faithful that quality additions were on the way.

For me, any self-respecting manager would have been jumping up and down well before leaving on a Euro jolly if funds were not in place to carry out his plans.Instead we have seen this `self-driven and single minded man` going along with all the crap that has eminated from his masters for months on end.

Because of the relative success he has brought to an ailing club, Moyes is a god who can do no wrong with most of a blue persuasion. The truth is beginning to dawn on a few of us that, talented as he may be, he is as prepared to toe the party line and bullshit the masses as any of `the men we love to hate`.

Maybe I`m old fashioned, but I always thought that `bringing people in` as he calls it, was an integral part of the manager`s job. Not of this one`s it seems-even if it does pay £60k a week!

How do you know he wasn?t jumping up and down? Why don?t you go home and kick the dog or have a go at the missus instead of Moyes. I?m sure it would give you equal satisfaction.

Moyes has been "jumping up & down" in the press for weeks now about the need to bring additional players in. I would say that he has been even more forceful in his private conversations with Kenwright.

Just because he isn’t giving full vent to his frustation in public, doesn’t mean it ain’t happening, where it should, behind closed doors.

Are you familiar with the concept of confidentiality, Mr Worrall.

If he actually came out and told the truth about what is happening behind the scenes he would be dismissed for gross misconduct.

I agree with the sentiment.

Moyes is a great manager and the best this club has seen since Kendal part 1. He is more integral to this clubs chances of Chapions League football and silverware than Arteta, Yakubu, Moutinho etc...however...If the season starts and we have (fit) 1 senior striker, 3 senior midfielders and a defence without back-up then he must take some blame.

I believe the failure to sign a Joao Moutinho type player is down to the board. Moyes wants world class players and doesn’t want to settle for less. I agree on that, and we should be proud of our manager for taking such a stance.

BUT

Moyes should also have realised that getting any such player is hard, especially for Everton and we don’t require simlpy world class players, we need squad bulkers.

Zoltan Gera free, Villanueva (loan), Boateng (1mil), Malbranque (2-3mil), Diouf (2.5mil), Sorenson (free), Crosas (400k) would all have been good transfers for the squad, without damaging our chances of signing a big-name.

OK, its easy to play Football Manager on an internet forum, however these are all transfers that have happened, all players going to smaller clubs than our selves, I believe Boateng would have been a perfect short-term Carsley replacement as he’s a much better player, Gera would have been good solid back-up, Villanueva will be exiting.

Even if we sign Milito, Moutinho, and M’Bia (unlikely) we will still be short. Failing on giving us an adequate squad should be Moyes fault.

BUT

maybe the board have told him to keep wages low, and thus he must have a small squad and take a chance by signing one good player on 50k a week than 3 average ones at 15k.

It?s one of the first rules of football that the coach is the one who takes the flak if things don?t go right with signings and results on the pitch. It says much for the respect in which Moyes is held at this club that even though we?re all pissed off with what?s been happening, we still want him to sign a new contract !

Thats why I dont believe the conspiracys put on here sometimes about ’phantom’ bids for players like Ramsey and Moutinho, because why would Moyes get involved? He would be well wound up if BK said "Moysie, tell the fans we are going for him and him, but really you are getting sod-all"

Kenwright has said over and over again that there has been money for signings. Moyes has, apparently, drawn up a list and expected BB and Bully to do the deals. The list was the easy part-any of us could do it! But if that list is unrealistic, no negoyiator could have buttoned down the deals.

I agree with Mr Worrall, Moyes is getting off light!

Blue Bill kept telling us that Destination Kirkby would not affect the amount of transfer funds that Moysie would have to spend. Now DK has been called in, let?s see how true that statement was!!

Michael, Moyes not signing a new contract, for me, is a sign that he was not happy with what is going on. I have never been one of his biggest fans, but I just think he is one of those managers who do not wash their dirty linen in public, and for that, he deserves a lot of credit.
Phew, I need to go and have a lie down now.

"The relative success he has brought" - Jesus wept, has this man no memory?

Lives in Speke. Thats in the city isn’t it. I wonder what KEIOC would make of a proposal to take the stadium out there? What? Have to get on a bus? Must be fuckin joking.

Keith lad, the decision has been made, just get over it. God it feels good to spout that shyte back at last.

As for Moyes. The truth will out if he signs in for 60k a week. Then he is complicit (based on no signings pre 16/08/08). If he doesnt, Bilic would be a good move. Remember: no king is bigger than the throne he sits on.

The lot of you now blaming Moyes for different things makes me sick.

Leave it fuckin out already. What next? Will you blame Victor Anichebe for going to the Olympics or the dinner ladie because Arteta looks a bit fat (sarcasm).

Moyes isn?t to blame for anything. Ok there are some silly decision making from him in the past. But how you can say he is to blame for things like our finances indirectly or DK considering he was in favour of staying in Goodison.

Its ridiculous. I applaud Moyes for not jumping in and wasting millions on overpriced losers like our rivals have done so far.

Anichebe off to the olympics could be a blessing in disguise. Good tactic by Moyes. Two birds in one stone.

Alan Merton ,

Moyes draws up a list of transfers and the board try to get them if that does not prove to be possible then it is up BK ,KW ,Robert Elstone or whoever may be in charge of the negotiations to say this can’t be done and decide where to go from there . If its not financially possible they simply should not be faffing about for 3 months underbidding for Moutinho .
Moyes works for them not the other way around .

Steve - who else do you blame for Big Vic being at the olympics, other than Vic himself? He chose Nigeria over England - something tells me that was about never playing an international if he chose the latter. Take a note from Fergie - how many africans in his line up?? Until the farce that is the african cup of nations (and now also the olympics) is sorted out, european clubs should boycott african players. What is the point in signing someone who wont turn up for half the matches as he is on international duty? Might aswell not sign anyone at all....aha.. that explains it...
