Mark Clattenburg

Comments (46)

I have just read, with a wry smile spread across my face, that Mark Clattenburg has "alleged" financial woes and has subsequently been removed from officiating the Communtiy Shield match.

Whilst I am not one to take pleasure from another's woes, Mr Clattenburg appears to be equally adept at managing his cash as providing an unbiased approach to refereeing...either that or he's just happy to be in the "red"........

Some good news did come out today, Mark Clatterburg has been suspended from refereeing over allegations of spiralling debts. I heard he put his house on the redshite winning the league last season!

Our old mate Mark Clattenberg who was to referee the up-coming Charity Shield game has been removed from this and all future matches. According to the report I listened to he is being investigated in relation to the debts to companies linked to him.

For his sake I hope they don't use a video of last years Goodison derby as a character testimony.

What goes around....

Just found this, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/7546968.stm looks like Clattenburg has been suspended pending financial inquiry into his debts. I know not as interesting as all the finger pointing over Kirkby, but Karma is a bitch hey.

Sky Sports are reporting that "Mark Clattenburg has been suspended from refereeing duties pending enquiries into reports of the official's alleged debts. The Football Association and referees body Professional Game Match Officials Ltd have now decided that Clattenburg will not officiate until the matter has been resolved."

I wonder if any mention of those 'deposits' from a Mr S Gerrard and R Benitez will show up on his bank statements!

On a lighter note, Clattenburg won't be reffing us again soon. He's been banned for running up debts in companies he owns. If only they'd waited a couple of months for the Derby and he'd have plenty of cash following another bung from the shite.... Allegedly y'r' Honour.

Wailing and nashing of teeth can continue.......

Sad to see on BBC website that Mark Clattenburg has been suspended pending enquiries into alleged debts. I'm sure that all Evertonians will be swift to organise a whip round to help him out.

It has just been announced that our favourite Ref has been suspended because of his alleged debts. Companies he is involved in have gone into liquidation and he is due in court over money he owed. He never apologised to E.F.C. for the worst decisions I have ever witnessed on a football field, and should never be allowed to referee again. He is a disgrace.

So Mark Clattenberg has been suspended pending inquiries into alleged debts owed by companies he is involved him. When I think back to last seasons derby and some of the frankly ridiculour decisions made by him, you do begin to wonder, don't you?

I have just seen on BBC website that Mark Clatenburg has been dropped for the Charity Shield Game on Sunday and from the Referee's list for his own welfare until ''this mess can be sorted'' because of the debts he and his company have accrued. (Should have asked the fat waiter for more) Though you would not wish this on anyone, doesnt it give you a wry smile that it has happen to him the cheating, Red loving twat. There is a saying in life, What goes around comes around. Through this painfully woefull time for us Blues, this at least gives us a little respite in these difficult times.

The real reason why the dirty bastard didn't give our penalties. He's up to his balls in debt and probably accepted a Brucie Bonus from the yanks across the Park. Hope you rot in hell, Clattenburg

Nice to see Mark Clattenburg suspended pending investigation into his 'alleged' debts.

Makes you wonder whether he had these 'debts' before last years derby and whether a little red backhander helped him out at the time.

What goes around comes around eh Mark.

He was running a building firm or something I think and a former partner of his took him to court over money owing and won so now he has to pay him back.

Also he has been holding off paying other debtors.

Obviously the money that Liverpool paid him to throw the derby match wasn’t enough to clear his debts.

I wouldn't like to cast any aspersions, but does anybody else think there could be more to this than we've seen so far? I wonder who he owes money to? And I wonder why?

Clattenberg probably didn’t take the plain brown envelope from the shite last year. What he did do was laugh and joke with the people he regarded as his mates - which is why Kuynt only got a yellow when he should have been shown the door, and why Hibbo’s yellow was changed to a red.

I don’t know what PL refs are paid, but I suspect that Mr Clattenberg is delusional enough to think that the rich and famous are his pals. If he has been running his business affairs in such an unrealistic way it is no surprise that he is in trouble.

Having said that, I know that we are all praying that evidence of the brown envelope comes out as part of this.

Based on his refereeing performances alone, I can’t believe he was due to ref the season opener at Wembley!

It wasn’t just our match he messed up bigtime, Fergie also slagged him bigtime in the press along with another manager (can’t think which one).

On top of that, in his first match after the "Clattenberg derby" he gave a Fulham player a straight red for a late tackle...even though the offender HADN’T left the ground and HADN’T used both feet. Even the Reading players nearest the incident protested.

Can?t believe what I?m reading. Is it right that his wife and kids should suffer as well?

I know I?ve got my Jesus jacket on, but it ain?t right to be dancing on someone?s financial grave just because of a match (regardless of the importance - or how much he fucked up).

Karma works in both ways. Those wishing ill will need look no further than over their own shoulders.

I’m with Jason, the consequences of financial ruin are far reaching, and no football match is worth the nightmare scenario that he and his family could face now - this thread is very childish. The blokes career is also being threatened; did any of us have anything to lose financially or otherwise in the wake of his mistakes in that derby match? I think not.

Chill out people, in a time of division I thought that this thread would at least bring us together, but no. I swear some people come on this site to argue.

The guy is either a cheat or inept, and we suffered.

He has some debts, and he has to be investigated in case there is a possibility he will (or has) accept a bribe. He will only lose his job if it is deemed that his integrity could be in doubt due to the debts. The same thing happens in all walks of life.

So stop all this Karma crap, the guy hasn’t died, his family aren’t on the streets and we ain’t going to get struck down just because we enjoy his comeuppance and take the...oh my god what’s that .....aaaaaaggggghhhhhh

All our comments are fine and justified, but why oh why did the regulating body (bodies) fail to see this last year when he himself, gave them the biggest ?heads up? they could ever ask for with his recorded for all to see (who wished to), indesputable incompetence.... or worse!?!

Why did the famous UK press not have a field day with him then? Why has it taken this long for his character to be seriously questioned. He was only played with like a puppy at the time by the press and the football regulators chose, repeat chose (think about that), to only, eventually, reprimand him in a belated and minor manner. So frowned on by those in command was his performance that day that he was awarded the season?s opening showpiece at Wembley. Take that in the bollocks you blue, whining scum and stop questioning us again. Oh ok sir, sorry sir.
FUCK OFF !!!!

Let?s get this cowboy run out off town and let?s again, at the risk of being accused of raking old coals up, ask why this cunt was never taken to task properly for his actions at the time. Never mind it was the RS it happened against, that just rubbed salt in the wounds, it was total incompetence on a blindingly frightening scale which was really, come on now, really, ignored by the regulating body in effect. Me and you wouldn?t last in our jobs with a performance of that ?quality?. No sir, P45 would be awaiting for certain, justifiably so.

Never mind what goes around......... let's criticise the authorities for their stance at the time, including the cosy ref?s reviewing club or whatever name that bloke from South Wales choses to run with.
