The new Official Site

Comments (46)

There I was wondering why the Official Site was down this afternoon, then up pops the 'New' Official Site. Tell me if I'm out on a limb here guys, but it looks as they got their inspiration from a certain independent Everton site. I guess it's kudos to to Michael, Lyndon and Colm then. Who said the club never listen ;)

it looks horrific, like one of those awful premiumtv sites that diddy clubs have. very amateurish. the actual content/intentions are good, but very poor execution by whomever the graphic designer was.

I agree with James. A step forward for them but still below par in design and usability.

I quite like the revamped site actually. It seems clear and a lot quicker to navigate.

Also, just booked my tickets online for the Pompey match and finally it’s exactly how it should be, picking exactly the seats you want. A major improvement - well done!!! Just a pity for us exiled non-season ticket holders it’s not very easy to get two seats together without restricted views. If only we had a 50,000 seater unobstructed view stadium....

Also, nice to see it up and running without a "test page" to say we’d signed Riquelme ;-)

Well its a hell of a lot better than the last one! I think Toffeeweb is a much more tastefully designed site however.

I’m not bothered about building a new site if the only news is bad news! How about building a bloody stadium and buying some players.

Does the fab new site mean that I can now purchase official Everton merchandising? Will the online megastore start quoting more than just "size S and XXXXXXXL only available"??

Are you joking? The new site is WAY BETTER than the old one - I’ve been on a few other Premier League sites recently and I was thinking how much better they are than ours. Now ours is similar to theirs and a helluva lot better than previously.

I work in the industry and from having a quick look round, I’d say its well designed, easier to navigate than it was and on the whole a really good site - some people will never be happy.

Noticed also on the list of transfers out that there is no mention of Fernandes loan ending. Does this mean something?

It seems that nothing EFC do is right! The topic was the new OS site and still people moan about new signings bla bla bla. We all know that there’s a number of issues that we find more important at the moment but please if you want to discuss new signings (or lack of!) then post a topic, but dont just jump at any chance you have to lambast the club at every opportunity. One persons taste is different to anothers but its not exactly something to ramble on about. The peoples club?....very divided people at the moment. Give it a rest and lets try to find something to get behind and support....oh I know...the TEAM!!!!!!!!

When Bill crowed to SSN to "Watch this space" who knew he meant his awesome new website design. What a shrewd manipulator of the media. I?m sure that I will forget his 2nd failed stadium attempt, the manager not signing a deal, the CEO resigning and ah what was it??? Oh yes...

Taking my sarcastic hat off though,

"The online email offers up to 5gb of storage and scope for attachments of up to 25mb on emails"

"YourEverton is free to sign up to and gives supporters the opportunity to form their own friendship groups, enabling them to chat, blog, upload images, create content for fan galleries and submit their own match reports"

That aint bad!

Its obviously better than before but still not good enough. There’s some naive design going on there. The typography and coding is shocking. I hope the club or designers are reading this because why oh why do they insist on having 25 fucking banners on every page...it’s ridiculous and smacks of desperation.

For a well designed premiership site check out.

What I don’t understand about websites is why should it need to take longer to load than necessary. The most important element is the content, which in this case is mostly text. Or bullshit.

I registered for e-tickets. Wrote my number and password down and then promptly lost the bit of paper. So nothing new there then.

Tried to log in but it says that if you have forgotten your password just enter your number and they’ll send a reminder.

But I have forgotten both. E-mailed them three days ago - guess what? Zilch.

If they don’t get a move on that’s seventy quid they have lost just for the first two home games.

Is it just me, or does the OS bear a remarkable similarity to www.westcoasteagles.com.au or any other website by a club in the Australian Football League (which are all done by the same company) or even adelaideunited.com.au. I know good design ideas are often mimicked but I can’t see too much on the OS that’s original or innovative in terms of layout.

As for the new site, much better in terms of being able to navigate but too much shit scattered everywhere.

Well at least it provided 5 mins respite from the duldrums that has been this pre-season...

I think it’s pretty decent. I think there are very few decent club websites out there - aesthetically they always seem to be an overcrowded jumble. I work as a web designer, and I think that the actual code is solid. Most particularly it’s genuinely accessible - i.e. for cross browser, readable by people using screen readers etc, and certainly ticks the boxes of the more formal accessibility guidelines.

Not sure who does Everton’s web stuff but they do seem to have a better idea of general web design and coding good practice than other club equivalents, regardless of what you think of the design. Liverpool’s site is a case in point of the other alternative - using obsolete layout coding, inaccessible to anyone browsing in a non-traditional way, etc.

Mind you, the best official site related to Everton is the academy site - www.evertonway.com - which is not only a very nice design but also a really worthwhile initiative and outreach that should get a bit more profile I think.

I can?t believe people are actually complaining. The Everton website looks nothing like ToffeeWeb. The website designers Everton have and use are first class and have won many awards for their efforts. The site is revolutionary in terms of its offerings and is very easy to use. It is bright, futuristic and workable. You just cant please some people sometimes...
