Just Evertin tv i think Eric. Looks like Rodwell and Gosling could well start next week at this rate.

Worth a thought that if we’d just signed a couple of highly regarded promising teenagers from a top 5 club in Spain we’d be elated. The point of a youth system and good scouting is to save cash so let’s not see promotion of these kids as second best. They’re there on merit.

Should be on Sopcast channel 57558, but channel is offline for some reason. Will keep checking.

If you want to watch footy online bookmark http://www.fsiteam.info

If a game is being televised they will have it listed.

Why isn’t Vaughan in the starting XI or on the bench for the last warm-up game before the season starts? Is he suspended or is DM still fuming at him over the red card ? Now is not the time (with our threadbare squad) to be punishing players, IMHO.

A little hollow in midfield.

Sloppy in defence a lil, leaving openings.

Hi, this is my first post, I have been an avid reader of this great site. I have always been an optimist but with all the pre-season shenanigans and today's woeful performance showing the kids are not ready to step up, we are in for a real struggle this season. Also Moyes's refusal to try 4-4-2 when we had the attacking strength of a toothless tiger was beyond me. And if there were any lingering thoughts that Leon Osman is worth a 1st team place they are certainly dispelled. Let's hope for some proverbial rabbits outta the hat!

Everton look like ateam that is going to get steam rollered whenever we play a physically strong side..
We have so many small lightweight players.
Look at our left side with Baines and Pienaar..Then we have Osman and Arteta..
I really despair when we play against the powers of the Top Four..Imagine us against Gerrard?. Or Essien and Lampard?. Or the athletes of Man United and Arsenal?.
I dont normally like being a doom bearer but I am really struggling to see how we are going to have anything but a difficult time this season we are just so un-equipped to deal with the 100 mile an hour pace of the Premier League..Worrying times.

Hmmm... lots of food for thought there.

Not sure if i agree with Joe?s commentary that ?you can only judge Everton when they have their best team out?.

In fairness, how many times a season does that actually happen and if this was all of our fit players then where the hell are the goals going to come from?

As good as he is we all know that the Yak will blow hot and cold at some point this season but what incentive has he got to stop him ?going AWOL? if he knows he?s a nailed on pick every week?

Finances being what they are it wont be easy, but even if we need to gamble on players from the championship this lot need some competition for the shirt. And fast.

Same as the last couple seasons no physical presence in midfield. How the hell are we in a position were we may have to play Young Jack Rodwell next week. We need an athlete for centre mid ASAP. I thought the YAK was our best player today, even though he played most as a lone striker.

That was an awful performance, we had nothing going forward, our link-up play was almost non-existent, couldn’t keep the ball for more than five seconds without giving it away, there was no quality in center midfield, our whole team is ultra-lightweight, and those kids don’t look ready to me, this is going to be one very difficult season. The only good point was that Arteta’s delivery has improved.

We need a quality central midfielder, Moutinho is a quality midfielder. What more do you want? It’s not like he’s being bought to play in Carsley’s position, he’s coming here give us a more rounded midfielder in the middle of the park.

Your attacking midfielder doesn’t have to be tall despite what people think, Fabregas and Scholes prove that. If your good enough height isn’t an issue.

There’s no doubting we need a bigger DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER. Someone with height who has the physical ability to mix it. From what I’ve read and heard where currently looking at Stephane Mbia who fits the bill, so really Moyes is looking at the right areas and knows what needs to be added.

People give the likes of Pienaar, Osman and Arteta a hard time on here desite the fact that there players who like to play football on the deck and are always positive. I remember going to games where we had dogs of war in midfield and to be honest the football was terrible, I think where lucky that we actually have players who want to entertain and give value for money. Just my opinion like.

It’s all about getting the right balance really, players like Pienaar, Arteta and Baines with players like Yobo, Howard, Lescott and Yakubu. Hopefully we get the right blend.

I saw the game and thought we did pretty well overall. Rodwell in particular impressed me. Assuming we get the rumoured additions we are hopefully about to secure (M’Bia, Moutinho, Smith, Milito), injuries permitting I think we are set to have a GREAT season with a trophy AND top four realistic aims.

I must have watched a different game to some of you. Playing against the Dutch Champions I saw Arteta, Pienaar and Osman running at players and beating them time after time. I even saw Phil Neville put in a couple of decent crosses. On a day that saw Arsenal held by Sevilla and Blackburn held by NAC we really didn?t do that badly.

The main problem we had was trying to link the defence to the midfield, to many balls were given away putting them straight back on the attack and our midfielders chasing round the pitch. Hopefully that is where M'Bia will improve things.

Rodwell & Gosling are NOT the answer to our midfield problems.... let's not anyone (fans, manager, chairman) pretend they are. We need top class reinforcements and fucking quickly if were are to avoid enduring another pre-season of missed opportunty a la 2004-05 and another season of heartbreak and disappointment.

We just didn?t look a goal threat against PSV and this is surely highlighted by the fact that the player fouled for the penalty was a central defender dribbling into the box. Both Moyes and more importantly Kenwright have got to get their fingers out this week.

Betty Waring ... Agent Johnson told us we were all going to be ?pleasantly surprised? ten years ago and we?re still waiting.

Can anyone tell me how much money is in the kitty for new players? £50 mill from the Prem they say. Say £8 mill for johnson, Uefa Cup must of been worth at least £10 mill, they nearly had a full house all season and then you have the Uefa Cup this year another £10 mill, and sponsorship on top. We must be talking £70 to £80 mill, at least there should be £40 mill in the pot for Moyes. Can anyone put some light on it for me please because were not getting any sense out of Kenwright.

Premier League money is about £40M. The Uefa Cup was worth £400k in prize money (yes, really). Gate receipts are a little below £20M a season, and we make about £5M to £6M on Sponsorship, mechandise etc.

That?s a total of £65M-ish in total income last season (we will have exact figures in a few months when the accounts are published).

Wages last season will have been around £50m. We have other costs of about £12m, and interest payments on loans of around £4m.

Ergo, the club has no money other than what it makes through player sales.
