More Disappointments Than My Sex Life

Comments (19)

I doubt I will meet a single Evertonian who does not feel as drained as I do by the unrelenting failures, let downs, and missed opportunities. We can't even arrange a smooth transaction for a highly desired player with four clubs chasing him to go through the exit door without it becoming a pantomime. Still waiting for the workmen to remove the cones from the inside of Goodison Park's revolving door and preparing to celebrate the signing of 'also-rans' as though we have wanted them since the window opened.

Arshavin now going to Spurs for upwards of £20m when we could and should have got him (apparently) in the January window for around £6m. Jo went to Man City. Ochoa staying put at America. The Moutinho farce. M'Bia should have the theme from the Clash on the terraces as even he seems to be wondering will he stay or will he go.

Now, after all that, and more besides, here is the latest transfer situation to demonstrate how shameful our board are in their dealings. Manny Fernandes is a player who we could and should have sealed last year went elsewhere for twice the price at the last minute. Amazingly, we then had the chance to get him back in at that rate again last season. Just £6m for a player Valencia paid £12m for six months prior and we even manage to screw that up.

At least we can console ourselves with the departure of the PR disgrace that was Keith Wyness and get ready for consolation transfers like Alan Smith. I wish I didn't feel so pessimistic but what have any of us been shown to breed confidence? Here's hoping I am proven wrong as there would be nobody happier than I for that to be the case but let's face facts here...

I recently read a columnist twice refer to our board in a perfect manner relating to their performance and I am sad to say that the term stands perfectly for their transfer dealings too: Dereliction of duty.

Was just wondering why over the last few days there has been so many reports that we are signing players, yet there has not been a thing stated on the official site? Are we to believe the press with these reports? The Echo seems to know about what is happening more than anyone. Until I see them here at the club, I won't be getting to excited. It's happened far too many times in the past...

Rich

It's because, with the exception of the Riquelme farce, nothing gets announced on the OS until the player has signed on the dotted line.

Apparently Newcastle have now pulled the plug on the Smith deal.

Frankly, I’m not to bothered if the comments attributed Fernandes are to be believed. A few weeks ago he was calling upon Everton to come and get him. Now he’s saying he wants to prove himself in Spain but also admits to being low in confidence. Personally he didn’t do enough to convince me last term and if we really are in the hunt for Mutinho and M’bia I really can’t see the need to sign Fernandes.
More worrying is the continued link with Smith. Again, if we are genuinely pursuing Love why on earth would we be remotely interested in Alan Smith he’s certainly no midfield player, yet another Neville perhaps although Neville is a reasonable right back its difficult to see what Smith would offer.

It may well be that if we do manage to sign anyone of any quality by the time they’ve adjusted to the squad we may have dropped vital points which we might find very difficult to claw back.

I used to trust the Echo, however this summer has proven to me beyond all reasonable doubt that thay know fuck all just like the rest of us.

If they were to be believed then we would have Darren Fletcher and Diego Milito on board already.

Also, they said they Smith deal was practically done early last week, again, fuck all has happened!!!!

The only shit I believe from them is headlines like ?YOBO PLEADS FOR MORE SERVICE FOR YAK?, well of course he does, Ooooh!

I will believe we are/have signed/signing someone when I see it on the OS, nowhere else cos I am sick of building my hopes up now everytime I read that comic.

Joe, come off it he’s Beattie mark 2. If we only sign Smith this summer I’m sending my season ticket back.

I agree with Anthony Jaras. The Echo spouts nothing but lies. Nothing to write about so let's make up a story that EFC have practically signed someone i.e Fletcher, Milito, Bent and now Love. Then we don't hear anything. I'll be shocked if we get Love!!!

I have a great song for next season if we sign Vagner Love

?All you need is Love? ? it would sound brilliant and we are from the city of the Beatles, it makes total sense!

Vinny,
How did that happen? Did Moutinho step on his foot as he walked through the Goodison doors for his medical today as you stated yesterday? Sorry about the sarcasm it?s nothing personal. I JUST WANT US TO SIGN SOMEONE !!!!!!

One of the daftest thing I?ve seen on the Official Site this Summer is a section entitled "What the papers say" regarding possible transfers.

Why the fuck should the official website be posting speculation? It suggests even the club don?t know what?s actually going on!

Oh hang on, maybe that?s not as daft as it appears .....

And if I see another non-news items such as Valente urging Moyes to buy Moutinho, I swear I?ll smash my PC.

Sorry Frankie, I was informed we had agreed a deal, then we offerd to pay in installments, typical Everton. I think now the deal is very doubtful... but we live in hope eh!

Hi Vinny - We have no option but to live in hope do we? Part of being a BLUE. Maybe the Pienaar injury though will make them get a fucking move on and sign someone. If it means paying the asking price for Moutinho then pay the fucking thing. When all said and done if he is as good as we believe he is then his price will only rise anyway.

They should have an open interview day this week, we could simply walk-in with a pair of boots and have trials on the spot. Don’t need to pay us a penny except maybe away games transport expenses. We could arrange our own b&b at away games if push comes to shove. I’m sure some of us can pass better than Pip, and throw ourselves around more than Anichebe. With 7 subs this season we can ’sub the sub’ once we get completed knacked chasing the 80th hoof from Jags. All i need is to book the plane ticket from Hong Kong now. It’s possible, I’ve seen it done in those Hollywood movies.
