Pre-Match Rituals...

Comments (11)

Just a quick qustion to raise the doom and gloom were all feeling at the mo... With the season less than a week away, what are your pre-match rituals/plans?? What boozer you drink in? Where you travel from and who with? What you do after the game? etc....

Mine is to get to the pub as early as I can (Piff, Spoons etc) after placing my £5 accumalator which I'll never win, talking about the game and how a fit bird in a tight Everton shirt is the best thing ever, getting the butterflies as we make the walk to Goodison, singing very loudly and then going back the pub after the match to celebrate and drink a further 8 pints! Feck, I can't wait now...

My pre-match ritual would be to dress myself in a witchdoctors outfit, perform a ritualistic dance around a small fire, chant in an unknown tongue and finally lift that damn curse that has beset our beloved club : (

My pre-match ritual is of course to respond to the 20 odd texts from kopite/manc mates saying we’re gonna get thrashed, after that I have to convince my Dad that we’re gonna win, then I have to convince myself that we’re going to win. After that I see whos’s got injured and see who’s refereeing which results in a change of pants lol. After the match I will drown my sorrows with a drink.

I like to walk right round the ground (always Street, Bullens, Park, Goodison in that order), maybe get some chips and then - and sorry about this, I know this is a family site and all that... I go to the church hall for a cup of tea. Except on Sundays when the church hall isn?t open.

Lets hope this ritual never happens..........

If we had relocated to Kirby, my pre-match ritual would unfortunately involve a look at the Merseyside bus map, decide gainst the bus and ask me mate if he’d like to share a cab from the city centre instead. We’d hail a cab, talk about how strange it feels to be going to watch the blues outside of the city, not even talk about the game cos we’d be looking at the meter worring how much the fare was gonna cost, we’d get stuck in the inevitable jam near the motorway, decide to get out there and pay the cabby £25 and still have a mile to walk, we’d look for a pub on the way and dont find one; moaning, we’d arrive at the ground with only a minute to spare, no ale inside us, and walk in to find 30 thousand people in a 55 thousand stadium in the middle of nowhere.. we would then probably lose cos there was no atmosphere from the home fans.. it didnt feel like we were at home and no-one mustered up a song to cheer the lads. Then I’ve got a 2 hour walk home cos the buses were stuck in a jam. A fortnight later I may well decide to change my ritual and watch the match from a pub and send my season ticket to the club and demand that they relocate back to Liverpool. Charlie Francis

When I visit my beloved blues, the pre-match rituals include doing some shopping in the morning and going to the pub before the match. Last time we went to the Winslow (or so I believe, not sure, it started with the "w").

I’m thinking of a new trip this fall or winter. For the first time, my girl will probably travel with me. She is not really into football so it will mean a lot more shopping and less pub-time... Does anyone has a suggestion to which pub I can take my lady? It has to satisfy my needs as a thirsty Toffee as well!

MY pre match ritual is to set my alarm for half an hour before the game or if early enough Aussie time(anything before midnight) stay up. Wear my newest everton shirt and my puma trackpants i snuggle up against my computer and go to www.myp2p.eu and stream the mtch. I always have a bottle of water and at half time get a packet of chips or lollies of some sort.
After game go back to sleep

Flying over from Ireland on Friday - normally just go over and back in the same day but making a weekend of it this time!
Down to the ground about 2 hours before k.o. Pints on County road. Up to Goodison road for curry chips in the Blue dragon. Into the ground with just enough time for a chang.
After the game a quick look around the megastore then back down to Wetherspoons on county road, have a quick beer and then usually a panic for a taxi back to the airport to just about make check in!! No such worries this weekend though, not flyin home till Sunday, happy days!
