Look at who we could've got...

Comments (16)

I'm as frustrated as the next man about lack of signings and have, indeed, abandoned all hope of signing anyone before the Blackburn game but of the players who've moved, within our alleged budget, that we could realistically have got then who have we missed out on?

I'm struggling to think of many/any. Modric on paper maybe but that would be the 'bulk' and I've barely seen him. Same goes for Dos Santos. Chris Eagles going to Burnley for £1.25m amazed me as he was having a stormer of a pre-season for the Mancs and at that price I'd have taken him. If Fernandes was available at £6m then I'd say he was the missed opportunity but Moyes sees him day in and day out and obviously didn't fancy taking the punt so fair play, thats why hes the manager. Sidwell's all about wages, he was at Reading as well, so given our structure we were never going to get him. Even the predicted exodus at Chelsea has failed to happen for one reason or another.

I guess the point I'm making is whilst I'm gutted and very much fearful over the lack of players available, it's not like I'm seeing all these targets go elsewhere as there doesn't seem to be much moving who we would've had a realistic shot at bringing in anyway and certainly not as if we've been outbid by anyone. You could point to Ramsey but was he ever REALLY going to choose us over Arsenal or the Mancs?

Let's get behind the boys for the Blackburn game, scrape a result/sneak a win and trust that 'someone' will be joining us before September. Then, if nobody does join, I'll be the first to hand out the lifejackets...

That lad Danny Haynes, the Ipswich striker looks good. Quick and scores goals. Technique looks good aswell. We can try get him for about 4mill.

I’d have taken Arshavin in January or before the Euro’s for 12 mill like were led to believe Moyes wanted, and we know the player wanted to come.
Also, id have stumped up the money for Moutinho by now, why does it take us so long to place a higher bid?

Big chance Everton have made the bid for Ledley. I guess Moyes/Kenwright have started with the "B-list".

We could of got Gera for free, not a greaqt player but i’d rather have him in midfield than Jags. He would offer solid back-up all season round for free and 15-20k a week.

We coiuld of got Villnueva on loan and a potential 4mil deal next season. Chilian player of season, play on both wings. I expect him to do very well for Blackburn.

We could have got Boateng for 1mil, a tall, strong, consistant defensive midfielder with Euro and International experience and 2 yeas younger than Carsley. He can also pass a ball accurately.

Diouf for 2.5mil, ok he is a former red-shite, and a bit of a skum-bag who likes spitting too much, however at 2.5mil he plays on either wing, and attack, has pace to burn and quite alot of skill. Would be a good option when we play 4-5-1 and surely better than having ossie/baines on the wing.

Thats 4 players, who at a combined cost of 3.5mil would have offered squad depth, improved on last season and still leaving room to buy the world class players that will propell this club to another level.

You can’t buy anyone if your skint. Which, lets face it, may be the case.

There are still a few weeks to go before the end of the transfer window.

I think we should have enough to beat Blackburn on Saturday. I just hope we get a few re-enforcements in soon.

Totally agree with you Fran. I think both players, who are very experienced both internationally and in the premiership would have been great squad acquisitions.

We could have, maybe still could get Steven Davis for £3 million.Good tackler, good passer, hard worker who has played well against top international teams.Come Saturday I’d rather see him in central midfield than Phil Neville.

Put some BIDS in for Christs sake! I am fuming with the amount of time i’ve wasted on the web and watching sky sports news waiting for a new signing at Everton. What happened to Millito and M’Bia both want to move and yet i’ve seen no official bids, just speculation. I’m used to frustrating summers but this one takes the biscuit, i’m even thinking about pulling out of my usual bet with my cousin that Everton will finish above Villa this season. We are going to fall behind a crop of other teams pushing for Europe and go out of all the cups early at this rate. Being an Evertonian has often left me frustrated but never to this extent when we should be building on last season to compete with the big 4. SPEND THE BLOODY CASH!

You have to ask yourself why these so called solid players were free agents or were going for cheap.

Get a grip lads both Gera and Boetang are average to say the least. Both also require high wages.

As for Diouf my god thats just silly.

Moyes doesn’t gamble on players anymore. He has made his mistakes.

Plus we want to challenge for a top 6 at least not avoid relegation

Listen, I do want to join Everton but Kevin Keegan is worried about a lack of numbers and although he has told me I will be a big part of the team next year, to be honest, I am embarrassed putting the Newcastle shirt on.

At first I was slightly put off by a few posts I have read on here about me being a has been and a liabilty but I am sure once I put the blue shirt on and show you how committed I am you will accept me as your own.

I don;t mind playing in midfield however I have goals in me and I feel a run up top will yeild the form I showed at Leeds Utd and on the odd occasion I started at Old Trafford.

I just hope Moyes pushes harder to get me because I am bored stiff here and despite the wages I am on to live in this drab place I am willing to take a pay cut.

Hope to see you all soon - IN AN EVERTON KIT!!!

Regards

Alan Smith
