Names, names and more names

You can keep all the names coming - in my opinion its all just spin to make us believe they are working hard on it. DM and BK are happy for all this speculation to keep coming up, they are probably causing it. The fact is there is no money in the pot and DM knows it. Can't tell the fans that though otherwise there would be a complete riot.
DM has been blooding the youngsters all through the pre-season, singing their praises ? along with some glowing testimonials from the 1st first teamers. I hope they are that good because come transfer deadline day there will be nothing ? no new signings. When the question is asked they will no doubt publicly come out and say "You know what ? we tried ? look at all the names we were in for. It's not our fault they didn't want to come".
Cynical - you bet I am. Just my opinion.

I woke up on Monday with excitement thinking this has to be the week when we finally signed someone. The Gossip was that we would have signed three players by the end of the week. Smith would have been a good squad player, M'Bia I think could be brilliant, Vagner Love had me excited that we finally had a squad to compete. All we needed now was Moutinho to be the final piece in the jigsaw.
Fair enough I said, a bit a progress but once again the farce that is Everton Football Club has let us down. Not a word from anyone in the club to give us even a glimmer of home. Disillusioned is not the word. David Moyes has lost his tongue. Kenwright is hiding somewhere waiting until the shit has hit the fan. News Flash Bill, it already has. Ten Senior Players for Saturday is a joke. Most Pub teams have more experience than us.
I am still hoping that they will prove me wrong but at this stage I seriously doubt it. So calling all Evertonians out there, say a few prayers over the next couple of weeks and maybe this great Club of ours will pull a few rabbits out of the hat come the end of August. Come on the Toffees.
Steve am with you on this one. I seriously believe we won’t sign anyone. We’ve all seen this before. They made fake bids in the past. Alan Smith, Owen, Kuyt...Shall i go on?? Billy Bullshitter’s at it again. Moyes has also in the main been very quite, compared to other pre-season. BK was buying himself more time, with his interview on Sky.
BK always comes out and says he is looking to sell when things aren’t going well. Everytime he says that you know where in trouble. How many times has he said that in the past??
"The fact is there is no money in the pot "
I’m sorry, but how is this fact? How can you say it is a FACT that we have no money, what do you know?
You’re argument lost all its strength when you’re reduced to speculation, like so many other items in the mailbag. None of us know anything, and you know what? We don’t know anything usually until they confirm they’ve signed someone. It only takes a few days to sign someone, and sometimes (Pienaar for example), those few days are behind the scenes so we only get told when they sign.
Stop with all the fucking pessimism, I’m worried too, but I’ve been worried many times before, and it always comes out peachy in the end. It seems every moment is the most important in our clubs history.
I also think that Everton must be paying Liverpool Echo to work the spin up on the fans saying it is agreed or due for medicals etc etc..Then the next day we find out through the players clubs that NO contact has been made eyc etc..
Christ Lads - Ive got it -Ive actually got it!! What with all that Cast malarky this morning and everyone getting into the swing of ?grand old team? - i know what we need to do to raise funds!!!! We need to realease a charity hit single - with all funds going to transfers. Its worked before with poverty - why not again!! Come on we?ll all get together and meet up at a recording studio in Liverpool and call ourselves - oh i dunno Toffeeweb Aid or some shit like that and then rip off ?Feed the World?
So here goes:
It?s kick off time
There?s no need to be afraid
At kick off time, we let in Yak and we banish van der meyde
And in our club of twenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the Park End at Kick off time
But say a prayer
Pray for saturdays first eleven
At kick off time it?s hard, but when you?re looking at heaven
There?s a boardroom in the Main Stand
And it?s a room of dread and fear
Where the only money flowing is into Kenwrights bank (oh dear)
And the bullshit that goes on in there there
resonates in clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it?s them instead of you
And there won?t be no new signings in Everton this kick off time
The greatest gift they?ll get this year is Moyes to sign
(Oooh) Where nothing ever grows
No cash nor ambition flow
Do they know it?s kick off time at all
Sign some fucking players let them know its kick off time
Sign some fucking players let them know its kick off time....
Ok its utter shit - but we can work on it....
Adam. You said it all there mate. It only takes a few days to sign a player. Well we’ve been linked with the names M’bia, Moutinho, Love etc for bloody ages and nothing. When this is backed up with officials from other clubs saying that there has been no bid, well... This leaves me to believe that this is just spin designed to placate us fans.
The proof will be in the pudding come transfer deadline. If no players get signed then we’ll all know we’ve been lied to. I don’t believe that a professional team could be linked with so many players and fail to land a single one if legitimate bids have been lodged. Other, lesser teams have been managing it all pre-season.
WHATS ALL THE PANIC ABOUT ?
So we haven?t had any big money sighings, who cares? You now pay your money to watch the likes of Vaughan, Anichebe, Baxter, Gosling, Rodwell, Baines. All local lads fighting for the cause. I?d rather watch that than a load of badge kissing mercenaries any day.
But remember you can?t win anything with kids !
Now I’m just trying to think outside the box here but what if BK is being ultra cautious and doesn’t want to part with any readies because of the pending recession?
It looks like Setanta might hit the wall and that will cause a lot of money to be removed from the game and teams budgets. Any teams in difficulties at that point could well find themselves docked points for going into administration.
Dscuss?
Sick as the proverbial parrot, really its a joke linked with any number of names in the last few weeks. None of wich seem to want to know, what so rotten at our club??
Hull, Stoke, West Brom have all made signings wich woud have added to our squad in depth if not quality. Quite frankly i dont like talking football with anyone at the moment. We are a disgrace theres no excuse for this.....I am mortified how far behind we have managed to fall with out even kicking a ball. It all felt so positive four months ago this is just sickening.
Terry smith..... exactly what I have been saying mate. The Echo know nothing, that's a fact. Tell us players are joining etc. They even wrote regarding Alan Smith it wasn't a question of ?if?, only a question of ?when?. The Echo have a lot to answer for, building supporters hopes up when clearly we are not close to signing anyone. These last few weeks have really made me question why I read the crap which they write.
Ex Chelsea star? Tiago is on his way.......hahahahaha yeah right.
I bet we win the league.
Bill Kenwright after PSV to a number of fans "We’ll have one in tonight or tomorrow at latest then another two at end of week, mark my words"
Fuck off Bill you soft cunt, your a joke mate
I watched the Oz v Argentina Olympic match the other night. This was the first Riquelme match I’d seen right thru. Thank Christ we didn’t sign him - he spent most of the match with his arms outstretched to the referee complaining about God-knows-what.
@micheal Mcguirk. I’d rather have the local lads playing!! Remember once a blue always ablue!!!
We can do the same as athletico Bilbao. They’re only allowed to field players from the Basque area. They can’t go out and buy a player from Real Madrid If he isn’t from Basque. That’s there rule. Maybe that’s why they’re always linguishing from mid-table to bottom half....
I was told from a very good source that Alan Smith had signed and that one from Bilbao and a portuguese was signing But like everyone else I beleived it what a dumbo

Maybe we should give him a call - ask him to BRING HIS BOOTS???
Surely by now even the most diehard optimists must realize that things at GP are as grim as they’ve been for many a long day.We have what seemed to be a fairly soft start to the season but the current squad is not strong enough to take advantage.
I fear that we are going to be playing catch up by the time the tougher games come.I f there is any money at the club it should have been spent by now.A bit of honesty from the top would be welcome.
I know there are some supporters who trust in BK and believe that all will be well.(I used to be one of them) but is there anyone who still believes that BK has a cunniing plan and that we are about to witness a masterstroke of transfer dealing? He doesn’t know what he’s doing.First week of June I couldn’t wait for the season to start.Right now I feel that supporters of Hull and Stoke are more optimistic than me.Still,I will be overjoyed if this time next week I am eating these words.
If this was any other side in the Premier we would be laughing at them..especially if it was one of the top teams..we should change our nickname to something more appropriate..perhaps Everton Ditherers or skinflints etc. I dont believe for one minute that DM has no money..if they have bid over 12 mil for Moutinho and a further 6 mil for M’Bia they must have a budget..WHERE IS THE MONEY FROM AJ AND McFADDENS SALE plus the wages saved on the released players...there MUST be some fiddling going on !! We have 12 backroom staff plus DM and the board while the squad is smaller than the hangers on..talk about more chiefs than Indians....they must really think we are all really dumb.
I have always tried to support Kenwright and Moyes, even when they have got things wrong, but atm I am looking at more bullshit about Tiago, another possible signing invented to try and keep loyal fans onside, as Trevor said where is the cash for AJ and Jimmy Mac, I also read a comment from Moyes saying AJ wouldnt be allowed to go until a replacement had been found, did I miss a striker signing for us? I know Moyes has been cautious in the past, but this is absolute nonsense. If DM is part of the lies, smoke and mirrors currently coming out of GP then it is time for him and Kenwright to go.
I guess we should be used to this sort of thing but this shit has to stop.
James Davies, the point I was trying, but I see now struggling, to make is about patience. I?m worried about the start of the season, but come 1st September 2008, I expect us to have made the signings necessary. If not, then (and only then) will I cast myself into the pool of pessimistic fans?.
In addition, to say the board are responsible for the names being thrown about in the media is ABSOLUTE STUPIDITY. It?s all silly season, that?s it. Moutinho was a bid, and was mentioned by BK, I?m not sure about the rest. Do you really think Everton FC would start rumours of signings just to keep the fans quiet?
Also, people saying Tiago is just another piece of ?bullshit?. Maybe we don?t plan on buying him, maybe its just a rumour, but why would the board make us think they were serious about him when it?s a LOAN SIGNING (apparently anyway).
Have to agree with Adam D,
Let’s see beyond the game on Saturday (can’t beleive JV’s injured again!).
Trying to look at it from the most optimistic way possible, it will be good to see some of the youngsters given a chance rather than carefully groom behind the scenes only to be released a couple of years down the road. If they proove to be any goodthen we can always insist that they need time before selling them and watching them start almost every game... oh no that’s not very optomistic either is it.
What Bill Kenwright has stated and re iterated many times is that David Moyes wont sign anyone " just for the sake of it". Personally, I’d rather we took the next fortnight to make sure that we signed the top players to take us forward, than rushed into sign the likes of Alan Smith before KO on Saturday. I want us to be able to compete with Chelsea etc this time, rather than the meek surrender at home of last season..There is money, there will be signings before the window closes. The best players always become available as everyone panics towards the end of the window..Just a bit more patience, dont lose your nerve and lets get behind the boys, whoever plays on Saturday.
Don’t forget when all the injured players get back into training it will be like having new players transfered in, and what with the 3 or 4 youngsters available who needs players from elsewhere.....
It would make a great carry-on film if it wasn’t so fucking bizarre
How about this for speculation... BK knows that he is not in favor with the fans and he knew that DK was going to stall. He plots with Moyes to wait on transfer deals until the very end of the window so that he can make himself look good to the fans. It makes him look like the saviour of our club when the new signings do come in, and he wins back the support of the fans. There you have it....
Just looked at Everton’s page on SkySports.com and I kid you not , it’s BLANK. Two ways of looking at this. Either we’ve just signed a truck load of players and they’re busy updating the page or Everton don’t exist and the memories have all been implanted. Or equally SkySports are too embarrased to display any news about Everton ’cos it’s bound to be complete bullshit.
Roman,
f**k DK, we want players, if he doestn want us to be annoyed then we want players - that would have softened the blow of DK (if u think its a blow) hes angering us by not giving DM the money or the backing.
Unless theres something about these kids we dont know about.
All I say is lets get on with it.........hope the ruling of 6 Homegrown players is implemented before the season start!!! Also lads lets support these young players of ours!
Remember UTD when Becks, Scholes, Nevviles, Butt etc came through? If we can stick it out until Jan window and be mid table I think we can push on and maybe sign some players then once the club knows where it stands
I thought the new electronic signage around the pitch at the PSV game was a great acquisition. Well done Everton you certainly know how to treat us loyal fans like mushrooms, keep us in the dark and feed us shit!
Saying don¡¯t panic is bollocks, even if we do sign some new players; surely it makes sense to bring them in earlier to adapt to the team and tactics. What¡¯s the point of new players if we get of to a shite start?
Excuses, excuses and even more shitty excuses.
¡õ The European Championships have caused a delay in the transfer market
¡õ The over inflated prices being asked by selling clubs
Bollocks, every other club has been in the same position as us but I don¡¯t see them in our position now.
There has been more spin coming out of Everton than the spin cycles generated from my washing machine, which by the way is about 12 years old. I just wish the players, manager and board would shut the fuck up and get on with what they are paid for ¨C I forgot what that is, answers on a postcard please.
What happened to all the przoe money for finishing 5th ?????
Wasnt it £45 million ?
£45million, are you having a laugh?
Lets be positive, good youth sytem, good manager, good chairman...plenty of cash to spend.....gonna beat blackburn and west brom thats gives us another fortnight to get players in...and think of wages saved....I love the club cos Im a real fan !!!
David,
If you loved the club that much you’d want to see a bit of ambition to do something simular to last season.
At this moment in time with the squad as thin as it is I believe we’d do well to get 2 points from the opening two fixtures.
I can’t be doing with all the people who have been saying give it time all throughout the transfer window. Those who say Moyes knows what he is doing and will come good. I agree he knows how to spot a tallent, but now is the time to worry. An injury to Arteta, Yak or any other senior player would make us nothing short of a laughing stock.
Everton FC you have let your fans down yet again.
Here here Matt.
However, I wouldnt mind a pint of what David is drinking. England to win the Eurovision song contest!!!
Vinyl Matt,
if you see no ambition, or the club has let you down then stay at home on saturday and paint the walls. Leave the postive support to real fans like myself...
Boys! Don’t disagree with David Banner, you might make him angry.
You would not like him when he is angry!
Alan, you’re thinking of the TV money for the last season (and the next two) @ £41mil - which is probably why every player from abroad is being slapped with a £20mil price tag when a premier team is interested.
Our prize money for 5th was £8-9mil I think, makes you wonder how we are still skint when you take into account the sales of AJ & Faddy - but that’s a whole other thread.
Or why we didn’t bother buying Manny for £6mil at the end of last season. I’m really worried about this season, the midfield got steamrolled on many occasions last year... even the poorer teams in the prem will waltz through out current midfield.
We’ve missed the quality signings - whatever they were Moutinho,Arshavin,Milito etc - they’ve gone as we cant afford the fee or cant afford the initial downpayment . Right that’s over , never mind the quality feel the quantity - Smith , Tiago , Wagner BUT as we dont really want them Moyes will only pay cheap fees (Smith) or get them on loan (the other 2) and dump them if there not good enough . Moyes must be in the doldrums
When Villa can decide over the space of a week to buy 3 players , possibly 4 with Milner , what it demonstrates to me as regards Everton is 2 points:-
(i) we’re not skint , but the original quessestimate that we had £15m is about right and we cant get the big boys for this, and even with Johnson £10m (£5 a year over 2 years) isnt enough now days to buy more than 1 quality player and probably 1-2 squad players . So in respect of finances we stand about 12 - 15 re Premiership teams. Budget £20m ish at best when to get quality palyers you need £40m for 2-3.
(ii) We havent got a professional approach into conducting transfer negotiations . A proper run club wouldnt have their chairman "on the phone 24 hours a day" - a proper run club would have a dedicated professional mangement team looking for and buying the players UNDER the guidance of the club manager - more like Spurs than Newcastle though.
This latest debacle with Wagner if true completely backs this view - we havent got the time to check the network/logistics of the proposed transfer - we’re hoping for honest middlemen !!
I suspect also that Wyness took his eye off the transfer ball, concentrating on DK and at the last board meeting - Agenda item 4 - Transfers - Err nothing to report - goodbye Bully.
According to reports in Italy Juventus’ Portuguese midfielder Tiago is closing in on a move to Everton after negotiations with Newcastle failed to bear fruit.fresh from sky newsis he fit for sat or will I ring my boots just incase.
Here is the makeup of the Sky money:-
Total available per year to Premiership clubs £569m a year to 2010.
Amount per club: basic 9 million plus 0.3 million per live televised game plus about 0.4 million for every place in the prem upwards with the bottom club guaranteed at least 25 million.
EFC would have got between 30 and 40 million for last year.
WE got 28 million the year before.
So Alan Walls was not far off.
The only explanation I can think of is that the banks have got tough with Everton over outstanding loans, and that the money we have received for Faddy and AJ has gone to them. I read somewhere recently on this site (I think the article came from the Guardian) that we currently have 12 loans taken out, totalling debt around £60,000,000. Well, I’m no expert on debt on such a scale as this, but I know that mortgage and loan companies have tightened up in the last year a hell of a lot. This time last year you could still get a 125% mortgage. Well, if we do have 12 loans, I would hazard a guess that after 7 or 8 different loans, the only people willing to offer us more debt would be the irresponsible ones, such as Northern Rock. And because we have now sold off all our assets and Goodison is worth next to nothing, the banks may well have said that they are not prepared to lend us another penny unless we make some inroads with the debt.
Everton have been trying to keep the banks sweet just in case we got the go ahead to go to Kirkby, in which case we would need an extra £78,000,000 (supposedly).
What are the odds that we are not going to sign anyone, because the money has been used to pay off some debts?
Even though I am as frustrated as you and am checking the internet every 5 mins for a new signing, I disagree with the premise of your argument. If DM/BK had no intention of signing anyone and of just bringing through the youth team then why would they have consistently built up everyone’s expectations of 5-6 signatures. They have run this line from the start of the summer and senior players have backed it up. What that has led to is the expectation that we’d get some new bodies and quality ones at that. This has contributed enormously to the pervading mood of the fans at the moment. If they planned that then a spin doctor would tell them to readjust the fans expectations from the start.
We cannot know what is happening in the back rooms of Goodison but I think that the theories 1) Moyes won’t sign his contract unless he gets a decent transfer pot OR 2) that DK call in has killed some investment waiting in the wings, both seem more plausible to me.
I predicted before the summer (too many rants can’t find the original thread) that Everton will leave the signings to 3 days before the start of the season, targetting loans and potential ’gems’ from the lower league.
Well I admit I was wrong: it is now 1 day before the start of the season and we have signed FUCK ALL.
So sorry for raising everyone’s hopes!!
Does anyone have the odds on us signing no one? It’s well worth a punt, just wondering what Bullshit Billy will come up with before disappearing back up his own arse. Will it be "We tried hard all summer to get the calibre of players David Moyes and I think will take the club to the next level but they simply were not available and David and I agreed that rather than buy players no better than what we already have at the club we will now wait until January and keep hold of the transfer budget." I seriously wouldn’t put it past that lying bastard,
Everton are beating Newcastle in the race to sign Juventus midfield man Tiago after he was reportedly impressed by Goodison Park chairman Bill Kenwright !
Unbelievable. What lies did he throw at him?
