Something's Got To Give

Now Don't get me wrong, I admire the work of both David Moyes and Bill Kenwright. I also admire the relationship they seem to have and in this day and age where Managers are chewed up and spat out at the slightest disagreement, I think their relationship could be a model for a number of clubs to build upon. However, it has been a close season of disarray.

Firstly Moyes at the end of last season states he has not signed a contract as he wants to focus on the end of the season. Fair enough one might think ? he'll sign when the season is over. But no, he wants to get the squad right and bring in players... but he'll sign within 2 weeks. Fair enough again, sort out the squad before we embark on another very long and potentially rewarding season.

Problem is he has still not signed and neither have the players. However, what has happened is our CEO has quit ? good news to many! Our potential move has been called in and this may have ultimately killed the move to Kirkby, again good news for many! And we have lost 2 very important players, namely Carsley and Johnson and these have not been replaced.

I'm no merchant doom and gloom, but I am a realist. We can claim "In Moyes We Trust" 'til we're blue in the face and I'm normally the first to say it. But there are things that are worrying and I can't quite put my finger on it; time is running out.

I hope to see in the next 2 weeks before the transfer window closes Moyes to sign some quality players, Moyes to sign himself for as long as possible, and us as a club to find somewhere in Liverpool for our new stadium. And let's not settle for mid range - We are Everton FC - and if we can get some investment. I know it's a lot to ask but I can only hope.

DM has just admitted he has let the club down by not bringing in players by now. Good on him !! Why was he in the USA (Steve Round could have gone instead or was he there too) he should have been here overseeing the real priorities....his transfer targets. Now we have the official websight showing a squad of 16 to pick from for today and 3 of them are goalkeepers...We have 9 senior players available..the backroom staff is more than that in number...Im just even more angry that a top league football team can be so poorly mismanaged to let itself get into this state at the start of the most optimistic season the EFC fans have had for years..what a disgraceful kick in the teeth for the people who have supported this team for ever..excited to read of top players being targetted and bids being made for the likes of Moutinho...every other side in the premier that needed strengthening has been...why are we so different ?

It’s not what Moyes said in that dour and somewhat tense interview he gave that matters. It’s what was not said that gives the lie to all BK’s efforts and misleading comments about all being well..I would suggest that all is not well between Moyes and Kenwrong, just another little concern as the EFC blunderbus roadshow continues down the hill to oblivion

Call me cynical, but this is EFC we are talking about and I just can’t help it!!!
In the past, we have had stupidly low bids for Lucho, Shearer and now Moutinho, all of which we know as fans were always going to be rejected as they were ridiculous low bids.
Hopefully I will be wrong, but I see a pattern of every summer we bid for someone who were are never going to get and just so EFC can tell the fans that they tried!!! They must think we are stupid.
