The current state of affairs

Forgetting all the transfer speculation and the stadium debate, I feel that something very big is going to happen over the next couple of weeks. Let's face it, Moyes wants to move this club on... I am amazed that he is still here given the current limbo that the club is in. It is my view that he knows what's coming, and is waiting to see!!

He wanted to sign players to develop the squad and hasn't been able to do so for whatever reason. If that reason was no money (within the limits we expect) or lack of club ambition he would have walked by now. So what does he know? What could it be? Change of ownership, massive investor on board, big boardroom shake up?

I dont know... but something's got to give in the next two weeks or not only will we have no players but we will have no manager either and even worse, any new manager coming in would be stuck with what we have got until January!!

We have really missed an opportunity to cement this club as a top six club this pre-season and if we are not careful we will be looking at the bottom six come December. Moyes has lost his spark in his interviews and with no other PR messages coming out of Goodison it make me nervous about where we are heading!!

Allardyce anyone? FFS... couldn't think of anything worse but I might nip down to the bookies just in case.

In May, I was really anticipating the start of the new season. However as it got closer and no new signings came in that anticipation turned to trepidation. I've just started a new job and one of my co-workers is a Spurs' fans. (Trust me, it's nice to find somebody over here who isn't a Manure fan, despite not having a clue who George Best is.

Kevin, if you followed the expert and informed opinions of those people who always have the inside story, you would know that the timescale is 48 hours - never a couple of weeks :0)

Whether "something big" is going to happen or not, it is almost unbelievable that we STILL haven’t signed anybody..........speechless, shock, horror etc.....I’m just dumbfounded!!
We all know that some of the players that have been mentioned we don’t want (mebbe they were never serious contenders anyway) but to have not one single player...NOT counting Pienaar or that guy with the strange name Blue Tooth, or even that Elstone fella, it’s just ridiculous!!!
As is....I really don’t fancy our chances on Saturday either!! And then Portsmouth? Could it be three games and zero points?
I guess after that 3rd game we have a two week break.....that will give us time to settle in Alan Smith.

Kevin B, I guess Moyes didn’t walk because A) he is not a quitter and more importantly B) he doesn’t have anohter club at this time.

As soon as a bigger team (financially) or the old firm come knocking on the door he might be gone.

I see sunderland have just efoortlessly picked up another couiple of players. It seems to me that any other clubother then ourselvees gets linked to a player in e paper, two days later the link gets confrimed and within the week they sign up. Villa, Sunderland, City, Tottenham, even Stoke and Hull for f*ck sake.

I am STIlL waiting for this preseason to turn round with a triple signing in one day. I remeber no one had heard about Kroldrup until the day we signed him.

I agree with you Kevin Bennett. Something has to give, has to happen or DM would?ve walked weeks ago.

Richard ? Inside story on Everton I dont think there is anyone whos got that !!

Our PR and keeping people informed is one of the big problems with our club, all we want is some idea?

They were sharp enough in taking our money in advance in May but now we are not getting a return in any way, at least have the decency to tell us how it is.

Your idea on 48 hours may be correct though - thats as far as we seem to look ahead - there certainly seems to be no long term plan whatsoever!!

Tiago can go and do one if he doesn’t want to come. It’s not that he’s too good for us, he’s just scared of playing in the Premier League now, because he got called a flop at Chelsea. Why didn’t we get Fernandes if we can’t afford Moutinho? I want that M’Bia, but is he worth 10 million euro’s? I’ve never even see him play! We could save that money and get Appiah on a free, although atleast this M’Bia wants to join us so myabe we should jump at the chance.

Moutinho and M’bia are the key. if that is all we sign i’ll be happy. Quality cenre mid partnership with Arteta and Pienaar on either side with cahill supporting the yak. The defence is solid enough as it is. Not a bad side but can we pull it off. Throw in Smith as a squad player and we have a decent squad. If it doesn’t happen, we will struggle.

I don’t know if we’re even going to bring a player in now. It seems like almost every player that we’ve been seriously linked to has teased us for a while, then run us into a bring wall - either the player’s call or their club. But this has cost us valuable time when we could have moved on. The Wagner Love situation, Tiago - just wasted our time when we could have possibly explored other options. Moutinho and M’bia supposedly want to come, but their clubs refuse, so we’ll continue to negotiate with them until the last seconds and get nothing. If I were Fernandes and Everton came in for a bid now, I would be massively insulted-you had all summer to get me and now suddenly I’m good enough. It’s just unbelievable how this club has been allowed to regress. They put all their eggs in the Kirkby basket and now that it’s in jeopardy it’s like a prizefighter who just took a shot to the chin: they’re staggering and can’t seem to get it together to recover.

If I were David Moyes the man of integrity and honesty as many of you label him I would of either the club by now or kicked fuck out of Kenwright.Lets face it its a manger who makes the bids for players and the chairman either backs him or doesnt. So all these bids that we made for players weeks ago,Mouthino,MBia,etc
all for decent money must of been Phantom bids as the club is saying its skint. If this is the case then Moyes is aTwat for going along with it all.

>A man of real honesty and integrity would of told BK to shove it by now and told the fans exactly WHY wouldnt he?How can a manger put his name to all this Bollocks knowing full well all of these supposed deals are none starters.

I agree Brian..........we need more than 2 or even 3 players but if we only got Moutinho and M’bia that wouldn’t be too bad.
Not sure if it’s worth paying what’s been asked for the former but they don’t want him to go so who can blame them.
Of course this still begs the question.......if 5 to 6 players was being talked about why can’t we easily afford just two????

There have been lots of empty statements made by EFC...only Quality..watch this space...transfer fund in place without DK...if quality means Smith, Tiago, Bullard and co on loan then Im boycotting the place..quality means at least two TOP names..eg; Moutinho, Milito or M’Bia..plus a couple of less than quality loans..other clubs can buy quickly but we cannot..another week has passed without any concrete moves for anybody other than loans..lets face it, loan players are ones that their club wants off the payroll...surplus to requirements..very few make the grade and most head back after the loan period has elapsed..we have done the same with Kissock, Turner and Ruddy...if clubs are eager to let players go, then we should not want them, except as stopgaps. We need to BUY a Moutinho to raise the spirits of the fans and lift the players to giving their best. Im sure it would improve our kids if we had an inspirational star playing with them..it would bring them on quicker and perhaps save money down the line..But I really despair at the shenanigans at the top..dithering and wasting time while the clock ticks the days away. Its another week passed and just more empty words and not a move so far as far as we know..Im hoping to be proved totally wrong and rabbits start appearing out of hats..but the likelihood is that more false dawns lie ahead.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t we leave our main transfer dealings till quite late on last season as well? I seem to recall that the Yak made it for our fifth game of the season at Bolton and Manny would have been the same if he hadn’t shafted us for Valencia at the last minute. The difference is we had at least got some people in earlier on (Pienaar, Baines and Jagielka) but to me this year our whole transfer policy was, and stil is, dependant on Moutinho. From what I saw during Euro 2008 the lad is a fantastic player, but is he really worth risking our whole season for? If the reports are true, that the "deal" is finally off for good then at least we can concentrate on getting in the 3-4 players we all know we need before September 2nd, even if they’re not quite as gifted or exciting. Sporting have been saying since June that they are reluctant sellers and the price will be at least £20m in any case, so why the hell are we still pursuing it at this late stage with everything we’ve built over the last few years collapsing around us? Beggers belief!

It is beyond comprehension how we haven’t signed anyone. The M’bia lad is crying out for us to come get him and we sit on our heels like a bunch of twats, dwadling about. ENOUGH! Like Paris Hilton says: I’m over it. When the people in charge start caring as much as we do, then I’ll tune back in.

What is happening now is beyond belief. All the progress over the last few years is being thrown away.Well we were there against Blackburn ,and if we had been playing any of the top four then we would have conceded double figures, that is how bad we were.Don’t listen to anyone who says we are ok I can assure you we are not.Kenwright and Moyes need to sort it out now.Nobody will come to us because we are a laughing stock ,a total embarassment and I am ashamed to be a supporter at the moment. Its almost to the point where I’m walking away from it,because it just aint worth the hassle. The reason there is no team to put out is Moyes fault alone,if he is playing russian roulette with Kenwright over his new contract then that is not acceptable for him to endanger the club and he should be sacked. If there is no money then he would probably have gone already, and if the transfers are being bungled as reported then whoever is negotiating is not doing their jobs right. We are facing a relegation battle with this squad if we do not buy someone. How has it come to this ?We need an explanation what is going on from the club, but we wont get anything fom that bullshitting bastard in charge.Except gushing interviews full of blatant lies,it is time he went!

Even Daffy Dodd has stopped since his don’t worry Black Bill and Moyes will get half a dozen players and they will be settled by the Derby match bollocks the other week. I predicted 2 points from the first three games and I’m already a point down. If we meet a half decent team and play like we did on Saturday we will get pummelled.

So by the looks of it we are going to have the same team this weekend that we had last weekend. This is an absolute disgrace as it proved this team cannot compete in the Premier League, and we are going to struggle against a team that’s one of the favourites to go down. We’ve had a whole week to bring someone in, but no new faces. There’s a week and a half left of this transfer window, and worryingly its starting to get down to the wire to bring in the 5-6 players that Moyes said he needed.

Stew, exactly right, if Moyes is playing Russian roulette then he should fuck off. I have a feeling that Moyes’ targets have been completely unrealistic. What happened to him buying British? These foreign purchases he’s trying for have been nothing but trouble especially with these blood sucking agents involved.

I think Moyes can cope with signing these little known players (when they come to us) like Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar, Lescott, Yobo, Jagielka but once he’s in the big league, he and the club for that matter, are very very amateur. You might get away with playing hardball with clubs like Wolves and MIllwall over transfer fees but Sporting are a well established European club and those tactics don’t work. Either pay up or fuck off.

Sunderland have managed to sign 2 !! strikers in one f*****g day. Now, we can argue the toss over their relative merits, but they both have (and will) score goals. Mendes went from Pompey to Rangers last Friday and settled in quite well as I understand. If we waste the next 10 days farting around trying to fool people with "bids" and sign nobody then I shall suggest a "coup" of our great club is required. LOL

Moyes is gone, watch his body language he has IMHO resigned himself that he is going.
All the shit about his contract is a smoke screen,
If the money was there he should have spent it,
I recall talk of a list of players being targets around mid May.
Most pub teams are run better than Everton at the moment.
There will be no major signings believe it.
I wish I could find some of my old posts because I saw this coming and was ridiculed for it.
Kenwright is a big big joke and it is beyond me how anyone can still defend him and his ruination of this club.

I think we Evertonians deep down know that (even though the club are not admitting it) no money is available and therefore no players are coming in before August deadline. DM’s body language on Saturday spoke volumes for me, lack of enthusiasm, lack of thought in team system.
Endless f--k ups going on in background.
we make silly attempts (on the surface) to tempt players i.e. Alan Smith - He’s on 5 yr contract at Newcastle at £50.000 a week, EFC come in with 3 yr contract on £25000 a week, what would you do ??
We’ve been fed this sh-t for years regardless of who’s in charge.
For me we now have to forget this pre season & focus on reality which is premiership survival. You watch EFC bail out of the EUFA/Carling & FA cups in order to survive & not stretch the smallest squad in the league.

PS - SORRY TO BE A PESIMIST !

Get out there and sign Hope Solo. A great shot stopper, a natural understudy to Tim Howard, and would put 3 to 5,000 on the gate for just sitting on the bench. And Victor might come back with a gold medal to add to hers.

It appears as if he is seeing out his contract

You could argue a) he is completing "what I signed up for"...I will be Everton’s manager through the 08-09 season..my word is my bond.

b) Biding his time to see how things develop with Ferguson’s retirement, or more likely anticipating a scenario for Celtic.

He cannot lose at this point. His reputation is established. He will, in all likelihood, have to shoulder little blame should this season be a total debacle, for a myriad of reasons beyond his control....the club was in meltdown...not my fault.

FFS. Please get a grip people.

I know you’re all Evertonians, but the strains of the summer seem to have turned you into a bunch of depressed lunatics.

Clearly money is avaialble, however the Everton business is not cash rich. Therefore we have to make what we’ve got go as far as possible.

Moyes has said over a number of years that he is always looking to improve the quality of the squad, not just add quantity. The targets that are in the papers, IMO with the exception of Smith, would all improve the squad and have the potential to push us in to the top 4. I can’t think of one transfer this summer, where value for money I think we’ve missed out (other than Ramsey). Look at Sunderland for example, spent a lot of money, but how many of those players would you want at Goodison? Tottenham look as though they are going to lose Berbatov, aswell as Keane, and whilst they have strong midfield are now very weak upfront. Villa have bought Shorey and Young for around £9m, how many of you would have been pleased if Everton had done that.

The Everton transfer strategy is clearly to get as many quality players as possible, without the means of having loads of spare cash, by playing hardball over transfer negotiations with the clubs such as Sporting or Rennes. Clearly over the next 11 days we will see if this works and I expect if Moyes’s first choices are not available then alternatives will be arranged.

As I’ve posted before when Bullshit Billy said "watch this space" he meant the space on the pitch where decent signings would have been playing.

Rennes will not let M’Bia go even though he wants extra toffees to feed his family.

It looks like the only player we MAY get is the new 6’ 7" Duncan ferguson Zigic on loan from Valencia.

If we had any money we should have tempted Manny back as he knows the players and the set up and would slot back in easily.

As always we do too little too late.
