Another one bites the dust

Its official: SWP has completed his move back to Man City! This Football 365 article confirms that another great signing has fallen away. I'm still hoping for one big signing, but I don't think it will happen. Not for the want of trying (especially on Davey's part) but simply because we can't afford them. I hope to be proved wrong come Sept 1st.

After losing out to SWP to City (was he really ever going to come here?) I think we all need a reality check. No player will come here if, the Sky 4, City, Villa, Spurs, Pompey & Sunderland want him. We also have to remeber that even Bolton, Wigan, Hull, WBA & Stoke have also spent more than us this summer. Fantasing about Arshavin, SWP & all the rest is all Well n Good, but I'm afraid that's all it will be a fantasy.

It's a pisser as I'm taking my new(ish) woman to GP on Sat, it's a shame that the club will be in tatters. Still she refered to that Spanish tosser as the "Fat Waiter" the other day, best smile all week.

I am all for signing big players -- Moutinho would come to mind here

But SWP is not a loss as the title of this thread suggests. To my mind, he is not worth the £80,000 per week wage that City had to dish out to secure him.

I think a little thing like £80,000 a week is the reason why Wright-Phillips has’nt signed for us, the greedy little cunt! i mean he was happy enough to sit out this season in the Chelsea stands and pick up his £60,000 a week until Shitee offered him £20,000 more to play for a team trying to break in to the top 8! fuck him i say, whats he ever achieved in his career to justify a salary like that?! good player but not outstanding, i’d rather see Everton give wages like that to a quality player like Moutinho! i dont like players that only move for the money because thats whats motivated SWP to move there, i hope Shinawatra gets fucked over and as all his assets took off him, City would be fucked then would’nt they!

I wasn?t over enthralled with the thought of getting SWP to be honest with you. I think he is a good a player but certainly not worth the reported £21 million that Chelsea paid for him and IMHO, not worth the reported £9 million that City have paid for him. £80 grand a week is a bloody joke for any footballer, let alone a player of his standard.

Just a bit concerned to learn on Setanta sports that Zayette was put off coming because..............." I don?t know what is happening at Everton, actually there might be a slight problem between David Moyes and his president regarding the signing"

I sincerely hope that DM doesn't decide enough is enough.

Larson would be an awesome addition to the bench. Max last 20 minutes has the class to change any game.

SWP - good luck to City if they want to pay him £80k a week! No great loss.

Think Larson would be a fantastic signing, purely for what Vaughan, Vic, Baxter, Agard could learn from him.

SWP never really set my pulse racing to be honest. Then again, as much as i think Moutinho could be great that doesn’t either. What does (and i’m being 100% honest here) is seeing how Moyes develops this team with the signings he’s made. As much as the romanticist in me (BK!) would love to see the tope European players sign the Everton supporter in me wants to see us gaining the benefit of the next Cahill’s and Arteta’s, the Lescott’s and the Pienaars. The players who needed EFC to give them the chance and will appreciate it. Let’s face it, some of the star names mentioned may sign, play well, then move at the first sign of an increased pay cheque. Some of the players we have brought in may be the players who appreciate the chance given to them by EFC and sign extended deals at the end of the day.

Moyes is no fool. I genuinely believe that he has the best interests of the club at heart and he should be lauded for increasing the squad size.

And as for Larsson, well, if we are in for him and Moyes wants him then great, imagine what a good impact he could have on the likes of Vaughan and Anichebe.

Keep the faith. It’s what genuinely makes us better than the rest.

Anyone on this site old enough to remember Franz Carr & Tony Daily will not be overly concerned about missing out on SWP.

Franz Carr - comedy!!!

SWP is a little bit more skillful than that! However Milner would be more useful.

Why are we being linked to Topal? £10m player my arse!!! Probably his agent trying to engineer a move!

Has Big Davey come up Trumps again? No cash spent YET!

But I can see the whole £20million now being offered before the transfer window closes, for the one we have all been waiting for Moutinho. With the injured players coming back and maybe another wee loan deal (striker) or two... The future is bright the future is Big Davey Moyes. So all you non believers out there, let's be having you, do your worst!!!

I think the general consensus is in agreement the SWP is a greedy twat and not worth the £80k a week; I would sooner see one of the youngsters get a bit part chance over the season.

Also, he is a fuckin midget!
