Louis Saha signs!

It has just been reported on the Official Site that Saha has signed on a two year deal, with an option of a third.
Could be a risk due to the number of injuries he's has over the past few years, but the same was said of Lescott. If he's fit he could be a shrewd bit of business (depending on how much he cost)
Still money available for the big midfield signing?

Saha, unbelievable. Just a last minute attempt to get bodies in shirts.
Saha! Bloody hell....we didn?t see that on the horizon....subject to a medical though (ha, ha!)
If he signs, will he bring his own treatment couch with him from Utd, so he doesn?t reduce our own supplies? At least he?ll keep Shandy company!
Rob, if we had signed Saha at the start of the summer we would have hailed it as a coup and a typical Moyes piece of clever business. If Saha is just a shirt filler I?m not sure who you are realistically expecting us to sign.
Sorry about the flippancy earlier- just a knee-jerk reaction! Seriously, though - if we got him at a discount (as the Manure move in for bigger fish) and he gets over his injury woes - then it?s not a bad signing. However, I think that?s a big ?if? and therefore quite a gamble to make (I would hope it is not just an unsubtle PR exercise from the club to divert attention from a woeful summer).
My main concern is that we are not tackling our real need with such a signing - i.e. more creativity and presence in midfield to feed the front line. A return to 4-4-2 till Cahill returns? Long-term concerns over Vic and Vaughny? A Plan B in case Yak jumps ship in the future (I pray not)? Unless AJ?s sale was a financial quick fix, it makes that sale more puzzling?
Roll on September 2nd so we can see where we really stand - but for me it?s got to be more quality midfield options for us to have any chance of progressing this season (or even just treading water)!
I like Saha, he gets a bad reputation from somewhere... maybe becasue he is always injured. But as a striker ? yes please! A cut above Johnson for sure.
FFS Louis Saha?s not going to wear number 9 is he?????
Dixie Dean, The Golden Vision, Latchford, Sharpy... Louis Sicknote.
FFS EVERTON?!?!?!?
Martin, personally I would never have hailed the signing of an injury prone, 29 year old, reserve striker as a "coup" or a "clever piece of business". Sorry but in my opinion this is a desperate measure to bolster a woefully inadequate squad. I hope I?m wrong and he gets 20 odd goals this season, I just can?t see it happening.
Saha was a great player and, unlike AJ, ideally suited to 4-5-1.
I had always hoped we would get him at a suitably low price. Earlier in the summer he was valued at 5 million - but looks like we got him for a lot less. Given his injury record a lower valuation is appropriate.
As a back up to the Yak he could be ideal if he can have better luck with is fitness and regain some of his previous form.
Louis Saha... just when you think things can?t get worse... I?d like to see what sort of medical he can pass. It looks like we?ve actually had to pay the Mancs something for him, unbelievable. They should be paying us to take him off their hands! Shandy Vander will have plenty of company now thats for sure. I?m waiting for Moyes to give him another contract now... what next... get Neville back in, " Sorry son only giving you a four year contract, just in case we can?t sign anyone decent will you sign for six instead ". Its really is embarrassing, even Sky Sports couldn?t believe this one.
I remember another injury prone striker signing for Everton... dodgy knees... over the hill.
"We?ll be lucky to get ten games a season out of him - never mind ten goals... we?re really scraping the barrel" I told anyone who would listen.
The forwards name: Andy Gray... the rest is history.
Saha is a class act... if he can avoid injury... well, you never know
I agree 100% with Sparke.. I know he?s always injured but if we can get 12 months out of him and keep us top 6. Good business. Moyes can then get his finger out of his arse and get his signing sorted at the beginning of the season instead of fannying around on itv with jim fuckin beglin
Remember when Kevin Campbell came over from Turkey? I in no way thought he?d help our relegation battle... Yet Saha is a very good striker and could make just as much impact, and at the top of the table.
Looks like the Frenchman is our 3rd summer signing. If we can keep him fit then I think he will be a great partner for the Yak.
Hopefully he can spend most of his time on the pitch.
Very talented player but also extraordinarily injury prone.
Good deal in my book, has something to prove and lots of experience.
Well done DM
If Davey has spent anymore than a few mill on this sicknote then he's officialy lost his marbles and his credibility.
So I am trawling through website upon website.... Davey you said 6 or 7 and we have 2 ....come on.....
Well I hit the BBC website... Liverpool stadium plans hit by a delay... I don't need to read anymore, that put the smile on my face.....
Okay next stop TW, NSNO, Bluekipper.... all a bit quiet..... okay I'll try the official site.......OMG....Louis Saha.... it's only 10am... which means if we sign someone else today we are still on track for 6 or 7 this week.......
Calm down, calm down I think to myself...... no sod it.. .I'm excited!!!
I know people will come on and say Saha is injured to regularly.... and in one corner I give you Duncan Ferguson who before Moyes turned up we couldn't get 2 games out of him for either injury or suspension... and then as a substitute and tactical team player he became better than ever. And in the other corner Shandy Andy. I need not say more..... let's hope we get a ready to impress Saha, injury free.
And I'll tell you what: Andy Johnson for £10.5m and Saha for a couple of mill...... it's like trading in your BMW and getting a Bentley with cash to spend..... oh what a beautiful day...
Oh no, no no no!
This guy is permenantly injured. Surely we could have searched further afield than 40 miles down the motorway. Hope to god we've not spent more than £2mil on him.
After just hearing the news that Everton have agreed a deal to sign Louis Saha from Manchester United, for an undisclosed fee (however I hope it's nowhere near the reported £8mil Sunderland bid for him, earlier this month). I personally I think this is an awful signing, I wouldn't even have him on loan.
I prefer both Vaughan and Anichebe to a player who is injury prone and past his best! Is this just cheap panic buying!!? Are we broke with no money to spare on the orignial targets that brought so much excitment to the club early in the summer? I am not against bringing players in on loan or on the cheap to fill a desperately short squad, however I would prefer the likes of Zigic on loan or even Henrik Larsson who has been linked with us today!
This summer has been an awful one for us and i feel so disappointed at the names that are being brought in, after all the talk of a pivitol season for us, one that would see us challenging for forth on a greater scale!! Yet despite this I will be there on saturday Cheering our boys on, hoping for the best!!
In Moyes we trust!??
So there you have it, our big signing of the summer - welcome Louis Saha!
Bet you didn't see that one coming, i suppose now we can safely assume that Moutinho and any of the other 'Big Name' players we have been linked with wont be coming to Goodison any time soon.
I'll keep it short and sweet - WTF??
Why are Moyes and Kenwright signing Saha? Really, he is not that good and is injury prone. Why oh why oh why - I'm hoping this is another loan deal because we'll never sell him on afterwards.
If the summer wasn't bad enough this makes things even more desparing.
Milner confirmed back to Villa...so no luck there either.
Hope the medical is not conducted by the same doctor who examined Van de Meyde!
I'm bloody sick of these fookin Manc rejects, I tell thee...
SICK!
On his day a decent player but another Manc cast-off? Might get Darren Fletcher in yet =P
I think Moyes should make him grow his dreds back. He was much better when he had them at Fulham!
Limpy Lou.... I didn't see this one coming.
Nobody is saying how much, but I think they threw in a pair of crutches...
Not sure what to say, he's either the best piece of business of year as a cheap replacement for AJ, or another sicknote...
Moyes is certainly on his way for 7 in 7 signings
So here it is, the 'Big One' I've read people referring to over the last three months. I too am one of those desperate Evertonians who has trawled through countless websites this summer, only to be predictably and continuously let down. This week has been slightly better even though I had not heard of the Dane or the Colombian before they signed on the dotted line.
I understand Saha is joining on an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of zero pounds sterling, for an initial two years. Surely this is the kind of player we get in on loan, the kind of player who has played about as many games as our flying Dutch winger!
Competition for a place in the physio room is not something we need, but he might make a reasonable 70th minute substitute as we all know Moyes doesn't play two upfront.
A usually reliable but unconfirmed source tells me we paid £3m up front rising to £6m depending on appearances and performances in the first two years.
Can anyone corroborate this.
Saha comes to Goodison with a great strike record per number of games played. If he can stay fit then hats off to Moyes......... but that is a a big if!!!
Given his injury record and the clubs awful habit of getting players who spend more time with the physio than the coaching staff, is it a gamble too far for Moyes? All I hope is that the medical is as tough and thorough as you can give a player.
Do we know if Saha is actually fit at the min? Has he done a full pre season? Has he been on the bench recently for Man Utd? Reserve games etc..
Saha’s record is about a goal every 3 games. That should equate to 15 goals in a season- my only concern is the fact that he probably only plays 1 game in 5 so every 15 games he will score!!!!!
A good aquisition if he stays fit. If we paid 2-3 million then worth the risk I think.
Great signing, good business, sod all those who think otherwise, he's clearly fit becuse Moyes wouldent have approached the Mancs if he weren't, get behind the team people. COYB
Squad striker to keep Yakubu honest now AJ?s left.
Will he start every match?. Of course not, but, he will give Moysie the option to rest Yakubu and not have to rely on one of the youngsters.... provided he can stay fit.
If it is about £3M quid upfront I?d say he?s worth a punt at that money.
Well we didn’t believe that quality players would be signed before the deadline so we should now stop being all doom and gloom ! With all the players to come back from injury, the youngsters and now THREE new players we can really challenge for a Champions League place, the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup. I’m so full of optimism when before there was only despair :0)
Injury prone frenchman Louise Saha signs for EFC for an undisclosed fee.
I am now in total depair and am trying to find a local cave to hide in for the rest of the season. The news that we have just signed Saha from Man U has just been announced and my immediate reaction was one of total disbelief. How can any team with aspirations swap Andy Johnson for Louis Saha? The guy is so injury prone for a start, is 30 (not fitting Moyes's policy at all) and is so over the hill he's down the other side! Does Moyes just ring up Alex Ferguson every year and ask "Who do you want to get rid of this year?"
Anyway, excuse me, I've got some cave paintings to do.
A good signing? I would say so. Provided we get more football out of him than United did he'll score us goals. However it seems that it pushes Vaughan down the order slightly, something I feel could be detrimental to the young lad.
While his goalscoring record speaks for itself (1 goal every 2.2 games), I'm not holding my breath on him passing his medical with his litany of injuries. Still, if he does pass the medical, it's 3 more players in the squad than we had last week... just 3 - 4 to go then!
Two year deal with the option of a third. Providing he can stay injury free he will be a great signing. Three down, three/four to go...
According to the stats on the BBC he made 38 appearances last season (including as a sub) so he’s not quite as injury prone as people would have you believe. He’s clearly a direct replacement for AJ, so if we can get a similar return from him as we did from AJ, it’s another shrewd bit of business.
I don’t think this is our major signing either, Moyes is filling out the squad positions first before getting round to the big one.
Also looks like Obinna will be coming in to fill Faddy’s spot as well.
Still no promises being kept... If Moutinho is signed then all is forgiven. If not..!! then they are all the biggest liars we have ever had in charge of the club. Stop the dummy bid smoke screens and unzip the purse. Spend the money, you tight bastards, and stop filling the treatment room with all the debris and left overs.
Saha could turn out to be great business, he is a proven goal scorer and just because of historic injuries why should we write him off. It looks like all you moaning f*&%ers will have someone to moan about all season.
We have to be realistic about who we can get and someone who has been good enough to play fo the best team in england, arguably, the world, then I think he could fit into our team. Lets get behind the players instead of constantly whinging. Im sure you will all sing his name when he starts scoring!!!!!!!
If we’re in despair how must the quality players we already have feel ? They are awaiting better quality players to be signed so that they have a greater chance of winning something and are introduced to injury prone Man Utd cast-offs and two players who they’ve never heard of (and realistically aren’t going to be anywhere near the class that we need to win anything). But never mind that’s three NEW players so well done Bill and David for making us very happy :0)
With the Official Site reporting that the perma-crocked French striker is close to signing for us, there's a potential partnership of Saha & The Yak up front. If Saha stays fit he will be a great signing and the thought of him & The Yak up front together is mouthwatering!!
Right, my view is that he has scored 40 odd competitive goals for United, considering he is injury prone that is not bad at all, how many did AJ get, 23?
I think it could turn into a great bit of buisness, considering we have reportably paid around 2 million for him. We still have money left and 4 more players to ship in. I still believe that one of those will be a big name, hopefully Moutinho.
I was a bit dissapointed to see Milner has moved to Villa, I think he would have been class, 10 times the player Wright-Phillips is, but then again, so is Pienaar. Can’t wait to have him back!
I know we?re supposed to get behind him now he plays for us, BUT - I never liked Saha when he was at Fulham, and I laughed loudly when Man Utd signed him and now I am paying the price for Moyes? long summer holiday with endless pisstaking texts and calls so I've turned my phone off.
Be honest with yourselves, the fella is shite and will struggle to make any kind of impact - mark my words a fuckin waste of space. Also I wonder what all these foreign players coming in a week is gonna do to team spirit etc. and the young lads Vaughan will also not be happy to see this prick rolled in to take his place
I swear Moyes is losing it - it reminds me of Giinola - deperate signings and I am fuckin embarrassed that we are taking these Man Utd rejects and giving them a retirement home - a sad day for Bill Kenwright if this is the fucking space we are watching.
Yes... Its Official...

Let's keep our fingers crossed that doesn't get injured....
Radio Merseyside 2.30pm sports report suggested that DM’s press conference indicated that there was no fee for Saha. I find that hard to believe but think it’s a good signing.
Ricard Harris please don’t judge the plyers before they’ve played. As peopl keep saying, look at some of the quality players we have:
Howard - Man U reject who was inconsistent
Arteta - Unloved and problematic player
Pienaar - See above
Lescott - Injured when Wolves were up, doubts he’d ever be able to play Championship standard again
Cahill - Australian Millwall player(?!!!)
Yakubu - great scoring record but looked disinterested and could sulk
Often it’s those who are raved about on arrival that don’t seem to do much
So, were you raving about them when they signed?
It would be great if we could get the Mourtino deal. We’ve come a long way since Monday, but there is stil work to be done.
COYB!!!
Why would we play Yakubu and Saha together? They are similar types of striker.
Better pairing would be Yak and Vaughan or, if we?re resting Yakubu, then Saha and Vaughan in a 4-4-2.
It is a bit of a swipe at young James having Saha come in ahead of him but I?d guess that Moyes doesn't believe that he?s quite ready to lead the line on his own in a 4-5-1 yet if we were to lose Yak through injury of suspension. Big Vic certainly isn't there yet either.
Just been talking to a Manc mate.
He told me Saha is not as injury prone as people might think as well.
Said that he could not break into the Utd side purely because they where playing so well.
Remember he had Van Nistelroy, Rooney and Ronaldo to compete with, among others.
Not too bad a signing. I wouldn't worry about the injuries - more concerned about his psychological state.
He can be wracked by nerves and has even failed to start for MU after being named on the team sheet.
However he may thrive out of the spotlight and at £3-6m is good value considering the dross we sold recently (AJ/Faddy etc).
Can we field Saha against manure?
I think Moyesy is bringing in players on the cheap or on loan to boost numbers and to not effect is transfer kitty so that he can bring in his main target Moutinho! I hope he?s being clever in bringing in free transfers, loan signings and Saha for around about £2m as it's been quoted so he can keep the majority of his transfer funds a side so that he can put all of that in to use by signing Moutinho, I hope so anyway!! It's like the Castillo signing, I think Moyes brought him in on loan just in case nothing comes of are interest in M?Bia because were finding it hard to prise him away from Rennes and I just think that Moyes didn?t want to be left short in that department just incase we don't sign M?Bia!
I hate how negative this site is! Saha is a quality striker that will compliment the YAk. And we have creativity in the midfield between Arteta, Pienaar, and osman. Not to mention the support of Cahil. C’mon you negative shits get real.
As I’ve said elsewhere, but needs repeating:
Everton FC = ManUtd reserves = In Fergie We Trust.
What a joke. Who is running this Club???
Report on SkySports mobile site, on the Portsmouth match preview, that we’ve gotten him in on a free!. Not on the main Sky Sports site though.
Amazing result if we have picked him up for nowt!.
A think you could be spot on about Moutinho Aide, hope you are anyway
I tell you what lads, lets just slag off all our new players before they’ve had chance to wear a shirt. Some of you are unbelievable.
Call yourselves Everton supporters?
Shame on you.
Questioning the quality of the players being signed before they play does not make me less of a supporter (or heaven forbid) a kopite !
We were never going to sign Arshavin and many of the other players linked to us but when we start off with Arshavin and Moutinho as targets and get two relative unknowns and Saha,I call that disappointment !! Of course I’ll get behind any Everton team playing and I hope that the new signings turn out to be bargains and gems but regularly successful teams buy proven quality and attempt to move on to the next level. Maybe the new signings will settle in quickly but they are at a disadvantage without the pre season bonding and fitness workouts against lesser opposition to ease them into the manager’s system and style. Still if they can pass the ball to another player in a blue shirt then it will an improvement of some players in the team !!
Just seen Moysey on SSN and he says we're getting Saha for nothing, I wonder if the deal is dependant on pay nothing now then give them summat in installments after so many appearances a season or have we got him instead of Man Utd giving us money for what's owed to us from the Rooney deal?!
I've just seen an article on the OS and Moyes as confirmed we do want to bring in Obinna on loan and he didn?t comment on reports suggesting that we were going back in for Moutinho and that we are preparing a bid for Larsson, he chose to keep quiet on those fronts and usually when managers don't comment on speculation it means they?ve got an interest in them or are trying to tie up deals for players. One thing he didn?t deny is that Saha won't be the last signing before the deadline!!! IMWT, COYB!!!!
Excellent player, hopefully we can keep him fit. It’s a gamble but if it comes off we’ll have an excellent striker on our hands.
Look back at Louis Saha?s record. He has scored 40-something goals in about 100 matches. Saha scores more on the bench than Rooney scores on the field everyday. Injury prone he may be, but say what you want, Louis Saha is exceptionally talented in front of goal.
