Any links to watch the game? justintv one ain’t working for me
TVU Player channel 65223 which is soccer 2 channel.
make that 2 goals behind and playing horrible
We had two good chances, but overall we look poor.
What the hell are they doing in defence?
Centre mid = nothing. We miss Jags at the back, horrible
Don’t know what’s up with Lescott this season. He looks poor but so does everyone.
We look dreadful. The one player that has impressed me is the Yak. He’s been working more than most of the rest of them who look pretty lost to be honest
Second half, put Jags back, Lescott to left back, Baines in midfield, Osman into the middle and pray for a miracle.
We were lucky last week and came away with it, but this week we won’t.
@Liam
You must be watching a different game to me. We look horrible. There’s nobody in the middle to take control and the defense, which last season was well solid looks as hard as butter!! Does anyone else think Vaughan’s gone awol?
It’s like the start of 2005-06 all over again...
Nothing against Jags but he isn’t a midfielder so why does he keep dropping deep to pick up the ball? Every attack slows down once he realises he’s actually useless with the ball at his feet.
Yes, we could have scored 2 but this 2nd half has the potential to be very embarrassing.
I really have a scary feeling about this season, even if it’s only a few weeks old.
Awww, fuck it. How did Arteta not score? I?m going out to smoke a joint.
Just proves again we don’t have the quality in midifeld to play in a 4, we just get ripped to pieces. I don’t blame Jags bcos he is clearly a central defender but will play anywhere for the team. I think Lescott v Glen Johnson down the left makes much more sense, plus Joleon is not performing well in the middle. Baxter anyone? Why not?
@Paul,
Vaughan needs to change boots for a start!!
It needs someone to get a grip in the middle and control the play. Problem is I can’t see who.
Just seem far too eager but no one has the ablity to create anything and their defence and goalkeeper are strong. Agreed Rich, Lescott to the left, Baines in midfield, Jags at the back and pray that Portsmouth forget how to play. What a croc
Its all too easy when we?re getting beat to criticise but I'm afraid we are shite! Yak is trying but we?re too lightweight, have no pace and even more worrying weve forgot how to defend. Carsley? Johnson? Would have helped! We?re in deep shit and I think Moyes knows it. Let's hope for an early goal and a bit of quality!
We did play better than in the previous 2 matches, even though it’s still not good enough.
Thought Rodwell was having a decent game, showing a lot more composure on the ball than Jags, who’s just clueless.
You know, I’ve generally defended him in the past, and he’s still OK going forward, but....
Baines is actually quite a poor defender.
There, I’ve said it.
Team is completely unbalanced without Osman in the middle. Arteta and Osman are completely isolated on their wings, with nobody in the middle to play one twos with.
Can’t see how Moyes can fix that with what he’s got on the bench.
Mark, you're right: we miss Carsley massively, I have been trying not to think about it. Watching that second goal back, definitely Baines? fault, he did not follow Johnson?s run left Lescott in the shit. Every time I watch Baines in defense it scares me, I have to say for the money he has to be one of Moyes? worst signings (with Beattie), we know how good he is going forward BUT a defender has to defend first!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baines just let Johnson go and Johson said: Thank you, I’ll put that one away. Unbelievable.
Extremely piss poor. I am embarrassed by this. I think a potential spanking is on the cards!
Our midfield looks lost, Baines only looks good going forward, Jagielka hasn’t a creative bone in his body and should only be defending, while Yakubu looks pissed.
We NEED Moutinho! No fucking if, no fucking but... we need him!
The Setanta Sports reporters think that Yakubu is "a little bit" overweight. What do you think?

Its a bit laggy but better than nothing - about 30 secs behind.
Why the hell didn’t Arteta take it?
I bloody hate those poncey penalties, arsing around. Leather the bloody thing
Someone paid the ref at half time.
We can’t even convert a penalty!
The perfect place for Neville is left-back! Baines still isn’t ready.
Just as an aside I heard that Rodwell is a far better center half, they expect him to be world class in this position. So in effect 2 centre halfs in midfield today....it is like the Walter days!!
Moyes has got to go. Simple as. I am sick of his moaning and excuses. For me and many other Evertonians I know he has taken us as far as we can go with his industrial style of football. Thank you Dave, you’ve been a good manager for us, but we need to progress with a more innovative manager. By all accounts we have been awful again today, most of our players are solid but lack any imagination. Slaven Billic come and save the Toffees, please.
It’s pretty clear from this, we need midfield players. Full marks to Jags & Rodwell for effort, but they both look like defenders to me, being played out of position. In the last minute rush for transfers, there’s a cracking player at Birmingham we should try to sign, who might help the shape of this team. Carsley, I think he’s called.
Mike - your joking right?
@Rich, you beat me to it!
Not sure about sacking Moyes but I don’t think he’s far off walking if we don’t get some sort of result today. With no one available to take over, I think him leaving would be terrible news. Unless you want Big Sam. Hang on everything’s going to be alright, Anichebe’s on...
@Tom, Big Sam, now that does frighten me!!
Rich Will: Rodwell is a midfielder. He was a centre half as a kid, but was moved to mid about 18 months ago. He’s been playing that position for the youth team, reserves and first team - he played in midfield in Europe last year.
The intention is definetely to play him in midfield long term.
If Moyes goes, who is exactly is going to come in? And what money can the new manager spend to improve the squad?... Kenwright hasn’t supported Moyes. It is Kenwright who needs to go frankly.
I wonder if Moyes has ever considered 3 at the back? Yobo, Jags, Lescott, Neville and Baines wing backs, Osman, Rodwell, Arteta across the middle, plus Yak and Vaughan/Saha/Anichebe up top. You can sub Cahill, Peanut, Castillo, Jacobsen, Baxter in if you like
Kenwright, not Moyes, needs to go
Lescott is a liability (at centre half), its too soon for Baines (or is he not good enuff), Osman isn't Premier League quality (and he's too small), Arteta can't carry a whole team and we have no height or pace up front. It's a poor poor situation. No threats and no skills. And Castillo etc etc aren't the answer.
And there’s your embarrassment. Shocking
FFS You fucking lanky bastard!
What the fuck was Lescott doing there??????????????
No. I just don?t think he can take us any further. He has done great for us, but I think we need new ideas and more invention. Even teams like Pompey and Blackburn know that if they match us for effort and grit that their quality can be the difference. The days are gone where you can win things purely on blood and sweat. Our home record is already ruined, and we?ve only played two very ordinary, mediocre teams... 0-3 now disgraceful. What is going to happen when we play the top 4 and the big spenders Spurs, City if we?re getting hammered by none entities like these. Don?t be soft lad, you can?t be sentimental in football, we?ve gotta move on or we?ll come 12th.
To Simon re: Rodwell, I hope that is not a product of our lack of midfielders and wealth of defenders rather than it being his best position
Or perhaps Moyes will walk?
This is shocking/ If things stay as they are, we end up 17th in the league by end of the day.
@Mike, Ok then, given the conditions at the club as they are who do you suggest?
FFS!!!!
This is a fucking joke!!
Don?t give 3 rats turds what anybody says, we have been shit today, there is something wrong at the club and we are in big trouble!
Forget fucking moutinho, HE AINT COMING!
I have a bad feeling about Moyes walking!
Look at Portsmouths team, the players they have brought in, quality!
Yeah they lost first 2 ganes, but that was against a class chelsea team and a close game against Manure!
PISSED OFF!
Anyone any ideas? Someone give me some hope?
@ Geh, Lescott played him offside but our other player (didn’t see who) played him on. Osman injured as well. Big Sam would sure up the defence...
Slaven Bilic though FFS! Last year we started to play some good stuff and were bringing through more creative players, not Moyes?s fault if the board have given him nothing. Moutinho is not blood and guts is he and he was Moyes number one target. I fear the day when Moyes walks then we really will be in a mess.
The club’s a mess. On and off the pitch. Why oh why haven’t we spend any money on players. Someone has to take the blame for this and go.
This is what happens when you don’t support the manager. If I was Kenwright I would leave early to avoid abuse and a possible riot.
We’ve gone backwards by 2 years. Hope Moyes has an ace up his sleeve or it’s going to be a cold hard winter!
@Rich, couldn’t agree more because I can’t see anyone else that we could get who could do any better.
It’s not a case of Kenwright going. It’s a case of someone buying him out. And right now we are not an attractive investment.
alright Mark, i’ll be the optimist, more shots on goal, missed penalty, arteta missed open goal, players injured, new players to come in to the side, David James MOM, it could be worse ha ha
all kenwrights fault joke. No wonder the players dont give a shit when theyve been lied to like us
They showed Castillo earlier sat next to Hibbert. Poor lad looked in shock!!
yeh but who picks the team and the shape yeh golden boy mr. moyes jags in midfield wat a joke
Moyes to walk this evening??
I think Billic fits the bill. He’s a gamble but we need to gamble at the moment or we’ll be left behind. Everyone know the qualities Moyes has but is it going to be enough to take us where we all surely want to go. I’m sure refs give us a hard time too because they see us as physical and the way we try to win cheap free kicks and waste time at home embarrases me. How the hell can a team of journeymen be beating us by 3 goals at home!? There’s something rotten at Goodison, it’s prob Kenwright but he won’t go so it may have to be Moyes. Billic could be an inspirational manager who can get the most out of a limited number of quality players. We should have got Wright Phillips but we just can’t compete, it’s so frustrating...Charlie Nicolas is doing my head in.
I hear Hibbert’s Spanish is exemplary
Could be worse... we could be Hull!
Its goin to be a long season! We’ll be out of Europe soon and probs the Carling Cup. I wish Moyes would just come and and say whats going on. I wish to camera would pan round onto BK......wonder how hes feeling now. 5th best last season clinging on and all we needed were 2/3 1st team signing to improve the quality (replacing the likes of Carsley and Osman). We’ve been outspent by the rest of the league and outplayed 3 times out of 3. Is it really this bad?
Bilic is a twat, mercenary wanker no thanks
@Mike, Billic might well fit the bill but do you really think he’ll come with things as they are?
Didn’t he also say he was happy as he was?
Rich,
He didn’t play him offside, he was on his heels and lost his man. Don’t meen to have a massive go, he let his man go!
I have a feeling Moyes will walk on tuesday. The players he wants are just not coming to Everton. He had to buy in June/July and knew Carsley was not renewing his contract. If there’s no money at all, then both Moyes and Kenwright lied about that.
Why would Billic come to Everton? Only a desperate manager out of work is going to come here. Everyone knows our financial problems. We aren’t an attractive option. We were 3 months ago. Says it all really. It’s bollocks. You can’t blame Moyes for the lack of signings. He has no money to spend.
I look forward to hearing from Tony Marsh ;-)
I have been very impressed by him, and he knows English football better than most foreign managers who come here. There all mercenarys these days lad, to think anything else is just naive and fooling yourself. Let’s face it we’re not going to get one of Europe’s top managers who is proven because they’ll want mega wedge but he’s young and eager to prove himslef so will cost less but will know European football inside out. I thought Croatia were superb in the Euros and if he could sweet talk one or two of their gems it might give us some much needed invention and players who can actually pass the football.
@Andrew, I think I’ll give that one a miss ;)
Can’t wait to read Moyes’ body language after the game!
Doesn’t matter a damn who is manager if the Chairman can’t / won’t support you. What could S B achieve with no money?
If and when sufficient pressure is put on B K to pack his bags, I daresay he’ll find a buyer. At present, there are too many apologists.
Tony Marsh? Can’t see he’s wrong in too many respects.
This is terrible, but let’s keep things in perspective if possible. Moyes isn’t going to leave over one result. A lot of things have conspired against us today, 3-0 isn’t a just result. That said, we have some glaring weaknesses in the squad. Jagielka as Center midfielder is a disaster. He cannot complete a pass that brings us forward, it’s as if he watched a video of Carrick & attempts those same type passes but instead of putting them on someone’s chest/foot they sail out of play or to the opposition goalkeeper. We desperately need someone to play there (Castillo - M’Bia?) because he lacks Carsley’s ability to break up opposition play. He is a brilliant central defender though, pair him with Yobo & put Lescott at left back, we will be harder to break down, as long as Castillo turns out well. Baines does not show me enough defensively to warrant a spot on my opinion, sell him to Roy Keane if it helps us to Moutinho/M’Bia. Then a dynamic creator along the lines of Manny for the other central slot where Rodwell is playing (NOT READY) & we will be fine. Otherwise look for a lower mid-table finish & being knocked out of the UEFA Cup by Standard Liege - a decent side.
sorry Mike but I hope I never see Slaven Bilic back at Goodison, he fucked us over first time and he is not welcome
@Mike, I think your kidding yourself Mike, he wouldn’t come, just like anyone half decent. And he was as mercenary as the come as a player.
CRISIS with a capital C on the way, anyone think we are progressing in the UEFA or the LC?? so out of them early doors and near the bottom of the league well done BK DM all of them
Get that git Phillip Green to buy Kenwright out. The bloke could solve all our problems with what he would consider pocket change.
Everton decided cut their losses on Bilić in July 1999, leaving him free to choose a new club but unwanted in England he continued to play only for Croatia on a £27,000-a-week contract with Everton while living in Zagreb. The club eventually agreed to give Bilic a million-pound payoff, representing around half of the balance remaining on his lucrative contract which still had 28 months to run. Just two days later Bilić signed up with his home club Hajduk Split where he briefly played until retiring.
Maybe he will work for free? wanker
Get a grip fellas it is Moyes at the helm or we are royally fucked
Body isn’t even cold and we’re already looking to Bilic!
I said earlier that it could get embarrassing but I really didn’t think it could be that bad.
Absolutely piss poor - and the support sent a very clear message before the end of the game. No chance of a riot - everyone walked out in disgust!
6 goals conceded at home in 2 games against two mid table sides - thats what happens when you have a lightweight midfield. I dont blame Moyes at all for this summer, but cant believe he only played 4 in midfield - we dont have the players to do it.
Kenwright you had better pull a couple of big signings out of the bag in the next 48 hours or I sense a riot may be on the cards, especially if we dont beat Stoke and Hull next......
@Rich, That is the way I see it too.
On the night of the EGM, there should be hundreds of Evertonians picketing the place with three simple letters on placards, W T F.
Phillip Green supports Tottenham... he won’t invest a penny. Re: Jay Harris article 23.08.08.
Mike Whittaker - just how many defenders would you like to see in midfield? ;)
I wouldnt say we were at crisis point...not just yet, we are not doing a Derby County, boy do they have some problems!
It looks like its going to be a long hard season, we have some quality players we just need the central midfield positions sorted! Davie, over to you!
To create the future you must forgive the past. Anyway I’m not convinced I believe any of that anyway - how do we know hat happened inside the club - they always put a PR spin on it whatever happens to make the fans believe their version and that everything is hunkydory. I’m sure he’ll know our potential and if he was successful who would be bothered about that anyway. Mark Hughes has gone to City, do u think their fans will be bothered if he’s successful, i doubt it, but i’m sure a lot of ’em were well pissed off when he arrived because of his Manure connections. You’ve gotta forget about sentiment, if he’s hungry and wants it, I don’t doubt his ability to manage so let’s make it happen.
@Jason, Fair enough, makes me wonder what the hell he’s doing here!, anyway, how about Leahy then? It’s all very well having all these bloody rich advisors, how about one of them gets his hand in his pocket!!
OMG: We’re in the bottom three!
Thank god Stoke, Hull and WBA dont look good enough to stay up. I think a relegation fight is on the cards.
I doubt even many top top players were on 27,000 p/w 9 years ago in 1999 let alone Slaven Billic. Even if he was, you get paid what your worth really or what the respective club is stupid enough to pay you. Giving him a settlement worked out better value for us in the end he could have sat out the last 2 years...not many players would rip up a contract anyway, they’d be stupid to do that. What did you expect him to do? It was poor management ultimately.
Yep - bottom three - look what has happened to the best of the rest... Most worrying for me though was the heads going down hugely visible on Lescott, Arteta and Jags. You could see they were exasperated. Moyes also. For Moyes’s sake, I really do hope he has been lied to like the rest of us regarding money because if he has any and he has waited this long to get someone half decent in midfield then he wants fcuking also.
Times like this, I don?t care who the billionaire is as long as they?re pumping cash into the club.
Seriously, what the fuck is going on?
What the fuck is wrong with the defense?
Move Lecott to LB, some of the goals we have conceded so far have been school boy stuff, CRAP!
Who was marking crouch when he nodded in for the third, disgusting defending!
Hate to harp on about destination Kirkby (I?m a No voter) but, if it had not been called in, would we have had more money to buy the players we want and not had to settle for, being a right back we looked at previously and not wanted, a good but crocked 30 year old forward and an Ecuadorian we know little about?
We were crap today and cannot see with the new signing what they can add?
Until next game.....
I can’t say I’m surprised.
This is the first game of my self imposed exile from Goodison Park until Kenwright sells up......
Looks like I was the only winner in this match. All you lot that called me a mug last week can go and hang their heads. I said that after the Blackburn game we had got sloppy and looked like kids playing against men and I wasn’t going to waste my money on that all season. Again this result proves me right and all the naysayers wrong.
Fuck destination Kirby, I’d rather be mediocre and play at our spiritual home Goodison Park than be slightly better playing in a souless stadium 10 miles away in a scummy town. Let’s keep our soul, I don’t believe we have to move to be successful anyway.
A couple of positive points:
We are obviously not considered a threat to the Sky 4 this year...a penalty this early in the year?
At least we won our 6-pointer against West Brom.
On the OS, it is got one of the headlines as "Saha: Moyes won me over." I wonder if Saha decided to do a Fernandes on us by slipping Rathbone and hopped outside GP on his crutches and back down the M62 while no one was looking...Just a though!
I did not see the game today. Tell me, those that did, how would Pienaar, Tim Cahill, Lescott at left back, Castillo at Defensive midfield and Saha supporting Yakubu have managed?
Can’t believe I’m saying this, what the fuck is Lescott doing?? Not just this game, the Blackburn game too. He left his brain at home. You can kiss your England career goodbye.
