Depression...
Comments (24)
After listening to the Pompey match today, all I can say is that a deep feeling of loss and depression has fallen over me. For various reasons, I feel that the performance today summed up pretty accurately the feeling of all Evertonians.
We were well and truly beaten by a better organised and physically stronger side. There seemed to be a lack of real leadership and positive morale in the side.
After the emotional heights of last season, I believe that we are in for a very tough year, probably the toughest since Moyes took over. What can we expect when we send boys out to play a man's game? When the money people won't bring in the players that they promised and when the manager won't commit himself to a sinking boat... who would blame anyone for feeling depression?
There will be much better teams than Portsmouth to play in the coming months. I fear that things will only get worse before they get better. God help us all.

Depression? couldnt agree more Paul
1) The defence was at fault for Pompey’s 3 main chances turning into goals! Yobo/ Howard/Lescott had awful games.
2) We were incredibly unlucky. We hit the bar, had a ball cleared off the line, and Yakubu missed a penalty (Even though it should have been buried).
On any other day I feel we could have comfortably beaten Pompey or at the very least matched them.
Surprisingly, I’m coming home for once not worrying about the attacking side of our team, which created excellent chances even with Jagielka in the middle of the park, but its the defence that worried me. Yobo and Lescott are far too quiet, and Baines looks great going forward but so suspect at the back.
Looking at the overall picture I’m fuming with Kenwright and haven’t stopped, he is responsible for not meeting the asking prices of Moyes’ targets. He is responsible for the club having no money and being mismanaged at the highest level.
I can’t blame him for the defending we put in today, but boy oh boy if we had had some signings to play in midfield then we wouldn’t have defended so poorly as a unit against Pompey, and expect kids to do the job each game for us!
Overall, good attacking show, awful defending, awful management off the field.
There will be people baying for BK’s blood at the EGM- depends whether it will be all smoke and mirrors again..
Also I think its highly likely people will question Moyes’ loyalty to our club. How can he expect to attract top names to the club if he doesn’t show his commitment? It works both ways you know...
If you don’t think BK has anything to do with it who do you think writes the cheque’s ?
Reality check please.
Bill lKenwright has fucking everything to do with todays result. His stewardship of our club this summer has been a complete and utter fucking disgrace.
I am one of those many idiots who booed in the stand, I even stayed on till the end despite my family insisting we leave, why, so I could fucking boo even louder.
Did you go to the first few matches of last season because I can’t remember the terrible start you refer to. That must make you an idiot or you set your standards way to high.
You must be happy with the shite they are serving up now and not the fantastic football served up last season!!
A lot of fans are saying when, if, but and maybe. The truth is we did not compete nor did we last week, the week before etc etc. Writing is on the wall so please sort out this fucking mess because I am loosing patience and yes I will keep booing because that today was shite.
OK, it may not have changed the scoreline but yet again it shows our shite PR machine at work. We deserve better but we settle for shite - idea there for a new motto me thinks!
Joao Moutinho: The Next Big Portuguese Premier League Star?Once again Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon have produced another top talent to follow in the ranks of Luis Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Quaresma, Nani and Miguel Veloso. The newest homegrown star is their attacking midfielder Joao Moutinho who is at the centre of a bidding war between a number of the biggest clubs in Europe though it?s Merseyside giants Everton who currently lead the pack.
The 21-year-old is already captain of his club side (the 2nd youngest player to ever do so) and a regular in the Portuguese national team. He also played in all 4 of Portugal?s Euro 2008 matches (3 starts). Press reports earlier this summer suggested Everton?s David Moyes had stolen a march on the rest of the interested clubs by preparing a bold £16million raid on Sporting. However, nothing materialised and now Chelsea are being strongly linked to the player who played under Felipe Scolari in the national set-up though the Toffees are thought to be stepping up their bid..
Some of Europe?s football giants are also casting admiring glances at the player such as Manchester United, Arsenal and most recently Barcelona. After all, Moutinho has a proven track record at every level of club and international football. He made his Sporting first team debut at 17 and was brought into the national side at 18. It?s only since the 2006 World Cup that the youngster has managed to cement his place in the national side and is now regarded as one of the key players in the squad.
Joao Moutinho: Sporting Lisbon?s Captain on the Move?In his first season in the Sporting first team the club reached the Uefa Cup final before losing out to Russian side CSKA Moscow. However, by beating 2 English clubs in that run (Middlesbrough & Newcastle) he was brought to the Premier League?s attention and his progress since has been monitored very closely. Despite being a creative player he has shown great consistency belying his tender age. Moutinho has made 108 career League appearances (105 starts) for Sporting and scored 13 goals. He has also won 17 caps (1 goal) which is impressive considering the type of player he is and the abundance of attacking talent which is produced by his nation. If Everton could pull of this signing then it would be a bold ambitious move by the club and enhance an ever improving small squad at Goodison. He has emerged as the club?s number one signing and could form part of a new midfield combination with Rennes defensive midfielder Stephane M?Bia.
Unreliable as it is wikipedia has him down as an Everton player as of today and Bluekipper has him down as being on Merseyside this could lift alot of depression .
Moutinho is signing for liverpool who are selling Alonso to Arsenal who in turn are buying M’Bia from Rennes.
Happy days!!!
And if Moutinho comes he must be fuckin mad!
Note to Evertonians who stay away from Goodison Park on some point of principle: try getting to the match because the team need you.
PS And yes, we had no luck today (including the League Cup draw).
I?m just fed up of this Moutinho/M?Bia shit and I?ll be glad when Wednesday arrives.
Come on Moysey, get your head together & start rallying the troops.
