Valencia

Did anybody see Manuel Fernandes run the midfield for Valencia on Sky yesturday, we've missed out there.
Also noticed Valencia are getting a new 75,000 stadium just 3 miles from the city centre, to be finished next year. By the look of it, Everton could do much worse than follow how Valancia (a similar sized club I imagine) have financed there new stadium, looks the business as well!

It won't happen. The new ground is just outside the hacienda and KVIOC are campaigning hard with Valencia Citio Councilo to keep the club at the Mestalla
I did, he changed the game with his passing, coolness and the ball and suprising energy. He looked like the Manny Fernandes of old, it was nice to see to be honest.
He has his strength back aswell, he was shielding the ball and not getting pushed of it like he was in his unfit out of shape period last season.
Excellent talent, potentially alot better than anything we have on our books.
I just hope we can get a play maker in to take the pressure off Arteta when he’s off form or injured. Osman and Pienaar are good footballers but there not good enough to be main play makers.
I just hope we sign a creative central midfielder.
We missed out.... AGAIN!!!
He could have been a great player for us but if we cant afford him, what can we do?
Nice idea, but the stadium issue isn’t helpful I’m afraid. The new stadium is not as central as the Mestalla, and the land is therefore a lot cheaper, so the bulk of the cost was to borne by the sale of the current stadium.
The trouble is, following the credit crunch no-one has the money to buy the Mestalla so the club is potentially crippled financially, which is why they are struggling to hang on to Villa, Silva etc.
Fernandes always was a class act but I can’t comment on the financial side of any deal that would have been required. Nor can I comment on his temperament.
However, it does look like a wasted opportunity. Now when did we ever say that about Everton?
Ian maybe they should have moved to shitholio next to a new Tescio?
Valencia are a much bigger team than Everton probably equivalent to Arsenal
I can’t believe we’ve missed out here when he was offered this summer at £6 million when Moyes was prepared to pay double that 18 months ago !!!
Cheer up lads its looks like were getting Sean Davies, the Pompy reject!!! You can forget about Moutihio.
Every Everton supporter goes to sleep tonight like a kid on christmas eve hopin to wake up to hear weve signed a sack loads of quality on the last day of the window. It’s not going to happen, I can see Gravesen coming back to make the numbers up
No brainer. In my humble opinion Fernandes was the best midfielder that we have had at this club since Kanchelskis. The guy has the ability and instincts to be the next Zidane. Whether he fulfills this potential remains to be seen, but it would have been great to have seen it unfold.
Not many players in the world could make our Premiership look easy but in his first season Fernandes took the piss! Only a few players were above his class that year.
Moutinho is a good player but no better than Fernandes, just harder working. Now we could pay 3 times the amount for a like for like player? kinder garden stupidity!
I am a huge fan of Moyes but since late May he has failed me. Whether he stays or goes? whatever!
(Alan excellent analogy my friend).
Spot on - Justin - He might not have shone as much before this summer, but we all knew there was class about the guy given further encouragement. Given the daft prices floating around this summer, we’ve missed a trick!
Alan Smith will definatley sign tommorow so it seems
Thanks for that, Alan - the perfect thought to take to bed - I bet I don’t sleep a wink in anticipation! If we get Joey as well, we’ll be made up - won’t we?
(Sorry - I don’t mean to shoot the messenger - it just sums up our ambition these days - lol!)
Maybe Manny couldn’t gel with our players? He needs to adapt to our game and hoof the fucker to orbit. Crap player, we’re better off without him. BTW Jason Broome I don’t think we lost out on the next Zidane!
Manny was not fit when he returned for his second loan spell and then picked up an injury while he was here. When he regained fitness at the end of last season he was great, in fact watching the highlights of the Newcastle game he was outstanding, our MOM. Valencia wouldn?t loan him to us but I?m sure a £10m bid would have secured him, about £8m less than Moutinho?s price tag and less than we got for AJ!
"Crap Player???"
Oh boy, Jason Lam you absolutely forfeited your right to a civilized response the moment you delivered that offering - but out of respect I will try.
So are you not going to educate me on the reasons as to why the two most gifted feet to play in our side since Kanchelskis are (as you so eloquently put it?) ?Crap!?
Judge the boy on a handful of performances from last season if you must, but know that his football suffered, because his confidence suffered. 4 clubs in a year and a long term injury and you demand that he be settled, fit and on form!???
I remember a certain 19 year old Zidane not being good enough to warm a Manchester United subs bench. Guess he was ?crap? also?
Players peak in time and their isn?t a man alive who would say that the boy we saw a year ago didn?t posses the ?ability? and ?instincts? that Zidane had at his age.
As for his character we know that he has built up a friendship with Arteta. There is no news of him causing any trouble and he publicly thanked David Moyes upon leaving (unlike Jeffers, & Rooney).
To my namesake? get to know your football as well as your history!
Well perhaps since we end up spending nothing this window, come next we can snap Fernandes up seeing as we always sign him for the latter half of the season ;)
Hi Jason Broome, tongue in cheek moment :-) I thought the hoof comment would give it away. We could do with Manny or any decent midfielder. Cheers mate COYB.
I’d like to know how the hell Valencia can afford a new stadium when they have £600m worth of debt?
