Obinna has fallen through. Denied a work permit... What do we need. Two midfielders, minimum. What a Face! And Man City can sell the Club and bid for Berbatov all in a couple of hours. We can't buy anyone in a whole summer.

I wanna scream. There's a Pompey fan giving it all in the office and I couldn't be bothered to respond. I'm empty.

Who on earth would want to join a club on the verge of relegation who are too tight to buy one decent player instead buying scap heap, has beens, injury prone aged rejects from clubs below us that you would want to throw in a waste dump, serves them right! This club is honestly the laughing stock of football, there a complete joke after reading this link below -Moyes, who checked on Everton?s UEFA Cup opponents Standard Liege last night, is now facing a race against the clock to bring in new arrivals before midnight. Now all of a sudden moyes is in a hurry? Who?s the fool us or him for being optimistic?

A deal for Newcastle?s Alan Smith could yet be resurrected OMG! And try don?t defend moyes, because he wants to pay cheap to get cheap! And what happened to the magnificent 6 or 7 new faces with the sales of our strikers? Honestly the guy is full of shit, the tight ass deserves whats happened to him, I just feel for the die hard fans. New novice boys Hull even recruit better than Everton; they have signed another Everton target, Guinea defender Kamil Zayatte. Honestly what a disgrace this club is desperately scavenging through the litter bins of clubs below themselves for what ever scrap is left over to fill the gaping holes!
What happened to the big one? Promises Promises., Liar Liar

The Obinna move is the real demoraliser - he would have brought pace down the flanks and have been keen to establish a rapport with the other Nigerian forwards.

Can only guess Moyes & Harrison will be at Bill’s flat watching the impressario desperately trying to pull something out of the hat.

Given the strides forward the oppositions have taken this could prove to be one of the key moments in EFC history

I for one will be glad when the transfer window closes. My nerves cannot handle much more web surfing hoping that when I click on a website there will be some breaking news involving EFC spending more than jack all on a player.

Saha could prove to be the signing of the summer but given his injury record over the last 2/3 years I dont hold much hope. Even if he does play he won’t get any service from our midfield anyway.

So up to now the supposed transfer flurry has resulted in...TWO players..
If its true the Obinna deal has collapsed and so far Saha hasnt officially signed then we are looking at nothing in the next few hours, what a complete disgrace that Everton Football Club should find itself in such a diabolical position..
I am afraid to say that more than likey before Cahill and Pienaar come back anyway we will probably be out of both cups and in the bottom five in the Premier League so it looks as though we are going to be back to what we know best this season..RELEGATION BATTLES..

Just curious.

When trying to sign players wouldn’t it be best to research completely all the possibilities of signing the player.

It sounds like it was obvious that Obinna didn’t have the required games played yet we still went to all the trouble of trying to get him in?

Was he really worth all the effort?

I am genuinely angry. I have just been demoralized for a summer but now I am livid. What team but Everton would be refused a work permit. And what a ridiculous rule anyway. Of the 3 signings Obinna was the only one that I even got slightly excited about, and now this bullshit. I give up. Another player in or I’d say we will have no chance of top 6.

Am I the only one who is happy that the Victor Obinna deal has fallen through? Sure he could have been a useful player but I was never comfortable with the idea of taking a guy on-loan without any chance of signing him permanently.

Sure he would have been another player but all the deal was designed to do was help develop a young player so that long-term Inter would get more of the finished article. If Moyes is going to spend time deleveloping young players then he should stick to his own. We are not a training team for bigger clubs to send their youngsters to gain experience.

I have never liked loan moves but understand they are necessary. That said I would only agree to one if a permanent deal was pre-agreed after the loan.

Or is each case considered on its merits? If so who are the judges ? Is there an appeals procedure?

More importantly why is there not a list of basics that must be fulfilled - make it simple so the likes of Everton can understand?

There really is a pattern here with all our failed transfers. Everyone of them has failed for what are clearly identifiable reasons, before we even go after these players. Riera for example. Wants to play champions league football and in talks with the dark side. Happened before. Work permit issues, which are clearly identifiable. Happened before. Player doesn?t want to come to Everton, but we waste a month negotiating with his club anyway. Happened before. Offer a fee way below the prevailing market value. Happened before. Last minute offer for Michael Owen, with low ball wages. Happened before. Do I need to go on?. Sorry but Everton management are not treating us like adults, and are therefore only increasing the massive disappointments we all feel. There is nothing more pathetic than me searching obscure web sites hoping to find a snippet of good news 24-7 this past few weeks. I am now really hoping that in the time it has taken me to type this, that the content is already going to be wrong and we will have announced a major coup in this last minute transfer market. I am so pathetic , I can?t believe it myself!!!

Ok you lot like to play the blame game so lets do it right.

What have City got that we havent that makes them worthy of a buyout from the Sheikh of Araby?.

Eastlands.

They dont need £150mn dumped in immediately for just a mediocre modern stadium. They come complete with a brand new ground. A ground in the wrong end of town that everyone said was soulless when they moved there from Maine Rd.

I give you this challenge now. Find a Man City fan who’d rather be back at Maine Rd now, pootling along, than challenging ManU for players.

So swinging this back to us we have to look for the reason why no-one wants a bar of us at whoever has been stopping us getting a new ground. Stands to reason doesnt it?.

Is it Bill Kenwright who’s stopped us getting a new stadium?. Nope

Is it David Moyes who’s stopped us getting a new stadium?. Nope - not him either.

Is it the fans who’ve whined, bitched, moaned, protested and done everything in their collective power to stop Kirkby in its tracks that have effectively stopped the only half-practical hope we’ve had of a new stadium?. Yes - thats the badger.

So you have it one of two ways. You get to keep your small family club ethos, back at the grand old lady, enjoying the familiar matchday routine and able to reminisce of the day you saw Ball weave his wizadry or Sharpy parade the Cup Winners Cup.

OR

You have investment from the kind of people with pockets deeper than god who’ll buy us the players that will make the top 4 quake in their boots.

You dont get to have both...not in the real world. Ask a Man City fan....if you can get him to stop cheering!.

Brian mate DON’T compare the two. Ferguson went to jail for head butting a rival footballer (he wasn’t the first or the last to have done this but got punished severely).

Barton is a racist thug who beat up his own team mate, publicly criticised his club and individual team members, divided the dressing room, stabbed a cigar in the eye of a youth team player and beat the crap out of a civilian.

We should not be desperate enough to entertain and pay the wages of this fucked up idiot. As a club this is not what we stand for.

The only thing we lacked last season was quality of play. Where is the calibre and quality we were promised.

£6m for Fernandes, Saha on a free and an adequate replacement for Carsley would have been enough to maintain our position and improve our quality.

Instead, like a toilet bug we are digging around other peoples shit!

Smith, Barton and Owen were shit signings for Newcastle. We have now become the dumping ground for their failure and their ridiculous wages!

Ste Jones,

Forgive my being direct here ? but what a pile of shit you spewed out there.

I think anyone with half a brain realises that what stopped DK in its tracks was the fact that the proposal got nowhere near ticking enough boxes to move forward without consideration from higher level civil servants than those based in Downtown Kirkby.

The difference between City and Everton? (The City who were down in the old Division 2 not so long ago by the way!!!) Could it be the fact that their owner was prepared to sell? That he had the ability to look in the right places for investment? Or perhaps that he hadn?t mismanaged them to the verge of administration? Whichever way, there is so much more to it than some rented stadium that sells more prawn sandwiches than we do.

The club is run like a fuckin tuckshop and the longer fans like you believe the shite that comes from Kenwright?s mouth, the longer we will be treated like a bunch of half-wit dickeads.

Why do you think Newcastle, Villa and the shite dont have problems getting investment?. Newcastle have a captive market - one club town - and dont need a new ground. Villa are the local big boys and Villa Park is quite nice. The shite are a route into lots of rich Norwegians and dont really need a new ground, however much they’d like one.

Next.

Brian Waring,

I take your point and technically you are dead right of course. Though without the very vocal opposition that fans have kicked up you wonder whether such close scrutiny would’ve been paid to the scheme?.

My biggest gripe though is now its those self same fans who were going to tear up their season tickets and boycott Kirkby who’re now disgusted with Kenwright and Moyes and the cleaners and anyone else they can lash out at.

City have shown that sacrifices, when you are the second club in a city and not the same type of brand as your neighbour, can pay off. The circumstances are different of course the Eastlands thing was a freak event that they lucked in to. I’d stress that I’m not advocating Kirkby as a good idea with the fee’s that now come with it either.

Its simply that fans need to understand the position we’re in and that this stupid, childish lashing out is valueless, makes us look like mugs and needs to stop!

Ste Jones,
Your right we do need to understand the position were in, but that information is not forth coming from Everton managment. If it was, this whole transfer situation would probably be easier to take!!

Dave,

No problems here mate.

You have proof Kenwright hasnt been willing to sell?. I’ve seen nothing in years in the media saying that someone was interested in taking us over?.

The Glasers were in the media months before they took over at Old Trafford arguing with the Irish pair who used to run things there. The DIC mob were all over the media trying to unsettle the Yanks at Anfield last year.

Why hasn’t ONE person willing to fight Kenwright for ownership of our club been in the media?. Not a single one....could it be because there hasnt been one that wants to move without the stadium being sorted out.

The club is run like a tuckshop i agree with you on that. We need someone in with deeper pockets than Kenwright I agree with that too.

What I dont agree with is this get rid of Kenwright....get rid of Moyes bullshit that these fans are spouting when we’ve got no-one credible to replace them!.

I can see it now...the dickheads force Moyes out and we end up with some clown like Allardyce at the helm cos we cant get anyone better in....then we’ll REALLY be in trouble.

Then its not just a few thrown matches cos we’ve got injuries...then its a club that is in full-on headlong decline.

Ste Jones What about QPR now that is a shithole of a ground but never stopped the investors.Kirkby was called in by the government because of the size nothing to do with the ground. How can the shite sign a 19 year old Brazilian and not need a work permit but we need one for Obina.

Mick,

Where is QPR situated and have you seen how much the investment actually was?.

The scale is completely different from what an investor would need to pump into us.

Ste Jones is this not proof that the man is a total lying, incompetent, deceiptful fantasist.

Clause from the Kirkby application:-

"6.10 A further point that is of relevance to any debate on the options that might be available to the Club to fund a new stadium, is the willingness and abilities of the Club?s directors to sell some or all of their interests in the Club in order to attract an investor who or which might have the ability in financial terms to fund a new stadium in its entirety or at the very least fund the shortfall that exists in the context of this proposals. As is pointed out in greater detail in the financial statement document 26), this is not an option as the current directors have no intention of selling any of their interests in the Club."

Now this is after he stated he was looking for investment 24/7 for the last 8 years.

Or do you still believe in fairies.

Watch this space

There has been a substantial transfer fund all Summer.

I look at the DVD’s of players DAvid wants us to buy and I go Wow yeah I can see that.

The cheque will be in the bank in the morning

I would not sell Rooney for 50 million (technically not a lie)

There is no problem with David’s contract.

The money for Kings Dock is ringfenced.

This is my Blue palace (Goodison Park 2001)

Need I go on.

Ste Jones,

Olive branch ? I seems we agree on more than we don?t.

Moyes

In absolute agreement over Moyes - him being forced out now would, in my view, be disastrous.

Kenwright

You know, I cannot accept that in the years BK has been Chairman, we have not had one offer that would have taken us forward. I?m far more inclined to think that there have been offers, but they haven?t suited the seller. There has been plenty posted on this site about train sets and I won?t go into all that again, but, given BK?s undoubted huge ego and megalomaniacal tendencies, I honestly believe there has got to be some element of truth in there.

You know, earlier today I was having a conversation with a die hard blue mate who I don?t see for months at a time. We got to talking about what a shit summer it has been and I said that I wished we?d had a buyer. My mate?s response? ?Yeah, but he a good blue isn?t he?? Fuck me. I could have fallen over. If that doesn?t epitomise the attitude that will kill us, I don?t know what does.

BK actually turns my stomach. When I see him on the box he embarrasses me. What with his waxing lyrical, histrionic and over-genuine niceness, quite aside form the absofuckinlute lies he keeps on telling ? 24/7, watch this space, Samuelson, NTL, Shearer, Owen. I can?t help the fact that he embarrasses me ? it?s a gut reaction to a man who makes me uncomfortable on every level, so perhaps my feelings are slightly biased by gut instinct.

BUT HE?S A GOOD BLUE!

So fuckin? what? I don?t care whether he supports Manchester United, Liverpool or Bristol Bastard City ? I WANT A CHAIRMAN WITH TOP LEVEL BUSINESS ACUMEN. Someone who will find investment and will stop at nothing until it?s found, not someone who goes cap in hand to a few peripheral mates who are prepared to lend him a few bob when the going looks good.

THE STADIUM

I am no expert on football economics, and I won?t pretend to be, unlike some professing to be just that on this site, but given all the conditions relating to use of the stadium (or rather restrictions on use - free use of conference facilities for one of the biggest potential customers (KMBC) and no concerts etc.) I just don?t see where the extra income will come from. Fuck me, how many prawn baguettes would need to be sold to seriously impact on a transfer budget? On top of that, who would sit in a beautiful executive box to watch Everton V Doncaster in a Championship game? Not many! My point being here that we need to ask what is it we really want? I think having a consistently performing Premier League side is the number one priority. Indeed we had that and have probably just blown the fuckin lot away in 3 hand-wringing, excuse making, bullshitting months.

I have always said that our aim should be to be the ?best of the rest?. Let?s face it, in the current climate, we will NEVER match Man United or Chelsea and probably not even Liverpool for that matter. How much have the latter spent over the years? And if I recall correctly they only came close to winning the PL once. For that and the state of football generally, we can blame sky and their ?Big 4? obsession ? but that is another conversation entirely.

Picking up your point on a fight for ownership ? I recall we had one ? involving a Mr Paul Gregg who was ultimately seen off by the promise of massive investment from the lifetime Evertonian that was Christopher ?Fortress? Samuelson! No need to add anything further.

BK will be in charge for as long as he wants to be. I just hope that next week?s Euro Millions Lottery winner is a blue. Either that or Bill Gates and/or Warren Buffet declare themselves to be lifelong blues who are just dying to invest. I fear without them or their ilk we will continue to be a rudderless shambles and that our long-term financial malaise will become something approaching terminal.
