The Mail Bag

Our Most Important Signing

Comments (13)

It strikes me that whoever does the negotiating with both other clubs and prospective players is only able to do a good job when persuading those who are either wanting to make a big step up or attempting to restart their careers. For example, of Turner, Ruddy, Lescott, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Pienaar, Spencer even Yobo; it could be said that a move to Everton must have appeared a very glamorous one. Howard, Arteta, Johnson and The Yak have been able to restart their careers, whereas Valente, VdM, and Neville can see theirs out.

Of our new crop, I suppose only time will tell as to where they fit in but I have my guesses already. I suppose the point I'm trying to make is, is there no-one at Everton who has the experience to negotiate with a big-name player? It appears from this transfer window fiasco that we don't or we would have at least one by now. Perhaps this should have been our first signing at the end of the summer.

It's not easy being an Evertonan sometimes.

Michael Kenrick
Keith Wyness. It must've been him. That would explain everything... well, almost everything. Except the lack of early summer signings... expect that we had no money...

Hmm... you're right: it's not easy, is it.

I really can’t deal with the thought that the fat one could have been the difference between us bringing in some decent players or not it almost makes me suicidal.

I prefer to think that we’re skint rather than believe that we fired the one person who could negotiate a transfer (for ACTUAL money, remember when we were able to do that?)

I can?t believe good players going to lesser clubs than us, whats happened. We where 5th last year, semi-finals of a cup and a good run in the Europe and yet clubs who nearly got relegated, did bugger all are finding it easy to buy these players.

It plain to see we dont have the money and were putting stupid bids in for players which we know will be rejected.... who are the club kidding... its pathetic and its making this great club look a joke

The thing is Moyes will walk but BK wont!! Its his train set after all

I’ve heard Dithering Dave & Billy Bullshit are now searching EBAY in one final desperate attempt find a someone !

So far they’ve only found that keeper Nash but will keep looking til’ midnight in case there’s a midfielder with a ’Buy it Now’ option.

You heard it here first.

Our lack of signings is because of Moyes dithering over the half a million which is disgraceful and shows we have not got the ambition to get into the top four which is an insult to fans like myself who pay two grand onseason tickets for his Everton mad kids who have to watch an average team getting beat 3-0 by pompey

Steve - Nice reply thats the first time I’ve smiled all evening.

Does anyone on here know what happened to the Michael Bradley interest ? Earlier in the summer he looked like a cert but came back from my hol’s & not another mention.

Its not really a glowing endorsement when one of our main targets locks his boss in a bog because he accepted a bid from us.

Not great PR is it?

Steve, can I just endorse a comment that Marc made earlier.
As I trawl through websites looking for good news (any news !) on signings, your comments also made me smile.

We seem to be very good at putting offers in for players that we have no chance of signing...... I think Billy Liar is taking the piss out of us! I would rather be told the truth that we are skint than lied too.

Just pathetic: what?s the grand total of what we?ve spent this summer then? What was Kenwright’s ’watch this space’ remark in aid of? We really are in a dreadful position; anybody attempting to deny this needs to take a critical look at what we have. It wouldn’t surprise me if we end the season without Moyes and it’d be difficult to blame him if he did walk away.

Just found out we’ve (supposedly) spent thirteen million on Fellaini. I’ll believe it when I see it and, well, too little too late? Why on earth haven’t we acted decisively before now?
