Could it be the same sky reporter camped out in front of Goodison last year at this time saying Riquelme was in a local hotel working out a deal to sign with the Blues? I remember how that one turned out. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Mark, I’m sure someone mentioned that Spurs had an £8m bid rejected last week for the lad, so if he were to come to us, we would obviously have to be paying more than that, and I just can’t see it.

Mark - Yes this lad looked very good the other night. In fact I was very impressed with their whole midfield and really hoped they were going to cost the shite £12 million by knocking them out.
I couldn’t believe our bad luck to get them in the UEFA cup as they looked big, strong & well organised.

I just cannot see us getting anyone who is half decent. We have gone from a team that finished fifth, good run in Europe, league cup semi final, that would appear an attractive club to join ? to a club in absolute crisis. Make no mistake, we are in for a season of struggle unless the midfield situation gets sorted by midnight, because teams will go through our midfield like a hot knife through butter.

Let’s face it, in monetary terms, which is how football is judged these days, putting history to one side for now, we’re a small club. The number of fans who turn up each week is only a small part of an appeal to a player, and, more importantly, agents.

All our competitors for 5th, which is where we’re at are much bigger clubs. Man City today have confirmed this, they are now a "massive" club compared to us in monetary terms. £ for £ we are the best performing club in the division and champions to boot, but ............

if we can’t get finance, that’s all we’ll ever be. Sad but very very true! And we just don’t have the income streams, we can’t even give our corporate hospitality away, we have the lowest spend per attendee in the entire league and that includes Wigan and we just don’t have the international profile some of us think we have. In short, we are an Aunt twacky club run on a shoestring with an ambitious manager trying to buy some of Europe’s best talent.

Go to bed everybody, it just ain’t gonna happen.
