Sugar Daddy to Rebuild Goodison

Comments (10)

After seeing the Man City fans' delight, I must admit I am very envious as I?m sure Blue Bill and many other fans and chairmen are. Even though I don?t think Robinhio is the answer ? £32M is ridiculous for a fantasy trick merchant ? the money they will have will allow them to get player after player; I bet Mark Hughes thinks he is a kid in a very big sweet shop!!

I think what the Everton Board now need to look for is to get an oil-rich guy/company from the Middle East interested in our famous club. Robert Elstone has stated that it will take £230M to rebuild Goodison. If we can attract someone of this magnitude then then will be able to do this on a grandeur scale to have the best ground in the world ? even Man City wont have this.

I really think this idea needs to be attacked if people are interested and I am sure people will be. Last season we finished 5th and we have a fantastic history and are one of the original 12 league clubs. We are ripe for a take over; also, the guys coming in would be latter-day saints with the fans if they re-built Goodison. I think most Evertonians could stomach a cash-rich sugar daddy if he committed to rebuilding the Grand Old Lady.

I know I am only dreaming but from what I have heard £230M to these guys is child's play so let's try and get these guys in and let them rebuild a gold/blue plated new Goodison ? the EGM may not have all been in vain as the secret's out noW; it's only going to take £230m! Guys lets get on with trying to find a sheikh!!!

Kenwright, Elstone, Earl, Green... get out there and get amongst those guys!!

Andy....
Sorry mate, but I think you will find the general consenus is that we are NOT attractive to a potential buyer UNTIL we have a nice shiny new ground!

I disagree Tom, I can’t understand why if you have x billion pounds and are willing to spend £30m on a player, and are willing to buy 18 new players at that price, you wouldn’t be willing to spend £250m on a new stadium. Its just another Kenwright excuse if you ask me.

Saying that though I dont want one of these Arabs coming in and buying players left right and centre without the managers approval. If we got someone like this it would be bye bye davie moyes, and hello a team of overpaid pre-maddona’s who can’t gel and dont give a fuck about our club.

What we really need is a rich sugar daddy to come in and allow us to continue growing at a steady pace, keeping the continuity we have. That wont happen with a rich Arab buying us as a play thing i’m afraid.

In 18 months time, the clubs run by the money men will occupy the top 8 places in the premiership and when they play each other they will cancel each other out producing sterile 0-0 or 1-1 draws with maybe the odd 1-0 win from a set piece to settle the order in which they appear within that top 8. They will absolutely batter the remainder of the premiership clubs which will inevitably lead to the European Super League and thats the end of footy as we know it. We have achieved amazing things in the last few years imho, but really don’t know how much more is achievable given the changes ahead. DM is a hero to allow me to dream beyond premiership survival, but the reality is he can’t take us any further. My prediction is that John Collins will be Everton manager before September is out.

No-one just no-one is going to come in and pump nearly £400m (ground, debt, players) and have to wait until 2012 until the ground has been redeveloped - so that he can show it to his mates/clients . Get real for goodness sake.

Mohammed ... was seen last night entertaining the Oman of Kuwait at Bings fish and chip shop , corner of Goodison Rd.

Scoff all you like, but I’d rather watch the Blues playing against other "real" footy teams like Wolves and Notts Forest in the Championship than sell out to some oil baron from far-off shores to ensure Premier League status.

Football clubs need fans with passion more than they need Arab/Russian oil money. Yes, we all want to win stuff and see the current team follow in the footsteps of the great teams from Everton history - personally though I’d be happy if we never won another trophy as long as the club keeps its soul.

I’d love to see the back of the envelope where Robert Elstone worked out that it would cost £230 million to rebuild Goodison :0) Even with all the generous Tesco club card points that they are offering us and Barr Construction doing a job on the cheap - sorry that should have read delivering a world class stadium at a discounted price for Tesco ! - then I don’t recall the Kirkby dome costing £230 million ? Or maybe it did, and I just got so excited at the ’free’ stadium that I didn’t carbe ’deliverable’ !!

Oooh, I got over excited by the thought of our Kirkby stadium that the last line should have read "Or maybe it did, and I just got so excited at the ?free? stadium that I didn?t care how much it cost" !!

Everyone seems to be missing the point about a billionaire taking over the club and keeping us in the city. The chances are that that they will still go for the Kirby option. It is far from certain that they would automatically seek to rebuild Goodison Park or stay within the city, especially if they have no connections with Liverpool. DK would remian a more attractive option for them. Therefore there is even greater likelihood that DK would go ahead.

A billionaire would not go ahead with Kirkby.
They did not get to where they are by settling for second best.
They would probably offer a deal to LFC re sharing and this time LFC would be very willing as they would know we could actually afford our share and it would save them a fortune in the current financial climate.
Is it a coincidence that Bill was at the PSV game with Anil Ambani’s son Joi ( Ambani net worth 42 billion dollars), then at the EGM tells all he cannot go on and has to sell ( in true drama queen style) and the Indians are arriving in UK Monday for ’various’ reasons?
Could Bill be setting the scene for his show stopping announcement that Ambani is buying the club ?
It reads like one of his shows.
Just a thought as I do not believe in coincidences. Everything happens for a reason.

If we were to redevelop goodison I have a couple of questions

1. Would we get more space for this (as in would houses make way)

2. How long would this take and could we raise our capacity

3. Where would Everton play during this period or would parts of the ground be shut to build one side at a time, thereby seriously reducing capacity?
