The Perfect Site?

Comments (12)

Just a thought, but does anyone know wether the board have considered Edinbrough Park off Townsend Ave as a site for a new ground? It seems perfect to me, it has twelve acres of land and is not even a mile from Goodison, even closer to our birth place. We could even all bevy in the same boozers, dive in a cab and be there in five minutes. It's owned by the dockers... so why not?

Send an email to Mr Bradley at the council and see what he says...bugger all I reckon. His email is Warren.Bradley@liverpool.gov.uk.

Whilst the exclusivity period stands firm I think it would be a waste of an email tbh

If BK wants a stadium that is cheap then i do not know why he has not looked into Anfied once the RS have moved out, after all it was our home first and it is in much better condition than GP.
The more i think about this then really it makes more sense to do so. It could be given a good dose of bleach first, then a thick caoting of blue and white paint and we could then develope Goodison whilst we play there. It might be hard to stomache but the Kirkby project is a cheapo unemotional doomed failure.
On the other hand why dont the club just concentrate on getting the team back to winning ways and stability and those that go the game will happily put up with all the obstructed views etc for the next few years.

Pete

And whilst we put up with the obstructed views we fall even further behind on match day income and each transfer window becomes even more fraught while Davie has to magic a lower division superstar unseen by anyone as our overdraft by then is so huge BK needs a sub for the half time board room cups of tea!

The only (real immediate) need for a new stadium is to increase corporate attendance as this is the missing income stream, 10? new boxes and a couple of resturaunts will provide the same return as probably another 5k on the gate each week. This cannot be attained at Goodison.

I agree and understand what finances would be brought in by corporate boxes and so on. My 2 main points were that we concentrate on the stability of the team and club whilst around us clubs are breaking up and that the history of our club is maintained by doing something with goodison as a move to kirkby would be too disruptive and certainly would not gaurantee success anyway. We are living in dangerous times with regards to finance and it is affecting us all personally without the concern of our bloved club. As much as i would love us to win trophies or even play in a couple of finals i think that we need to ride a very big storm here and just survive or alternately if we are going to do something big to change things and run the risk of collapse, then the kirkby project is not good enough to run that risk. Neither is paying some foriegners 150.000k per game to show a few minutes of brilliance but thats where we are going. It is all a bit too much for me and i am suprised that the two clubs have not gone into a joint venture for a stadium which would given us equal corporate viewing as well as that little extra protection from financial strain.

12 Acres.....that seems awfully small for a full fledged stadium...no? I bet Goodison is on a much bigger footprint right now.

Surely there is more land on the old Docks that we could use ie Trafalgar Docks, Alexandra Docks etc.

Admittedly, I’m not sure who owns what down there any more but Trafalgar Docks could be a good spot as it is so close to City centre.

Maybe something’s already planned there or built there, it’s been a while since I’ve been to that part of town.

£250,000 ? No problem - according to some redshite supporters.

I’m looking around to find out exactly what you have to pay to be a Barcelona "member" (there are about 150,000 of them) and came across some rs supporter group who wanted £5000 per head to buy the club. One fool in Oz said they could do it from there alone. I think they are still awaiting results.

So why don’t we have a whip round in the boozer? Dead easy. And don’t cabs go as far as Kirkby?

Where the fuck is it? I live by the Showcase Cinema and often drive down Townsend Avenue to Broadway and have never heard of or seen an Edinbrough Park?!?! Norris Green Park... sure, but that's way too small.

It's past Broadway, on the left when you go past Pinehurst, have a look on Google Maps.
