Appiah

I heard on Setanta that he's bought himself out of the Fenerbahce contract and is now a free agent. That means he can be signed outside the window. Shouldn't we be in there like Amy Winehouse in a crack factory? Kenwright/Elstone/Moyes (take your pick) should be on the phone to his agent, offering him a great deal and pushing our African credentials like there's no tomorrow. Chances?

What about, Obinna? His work permit was rejected the 1st time but couldn't we get try to get him on loan again as Castillo is our only loan siging. He would provide a bit of pace on the wings while Pienaar is injuired.
Talking of past targets, I see: "Stephane Mbia has pleaded with his club Rennes to let him join Arsenal in January after the Gunners failed with a bid for the 22-year-old during the summer as the French club are holding out for £10m. (The Times)"
Sound familiar?....
Really glad we didnt sign him now. Clearly a mercenary...
I dunno... he’s definitely a good player but we already got Fellaini and Castillo who both are very similar types of players to Appiah. He’ll probably want big wages as well. And can we loan Obinna while the transfer window is closed? I thought it was just teams below the PL who could loan players outside the transfer window.
It’s only been 8 days after the transfer window, and already speculating on more players, just shows it’ll never end!!

Appiah would be a great signing on a free, but he’s a similiar type of player to Fellaini and Castillo and i don’t think it would work playing them all together in the middle, because they are creative enough. I certainly wouldn’t say no to a proven top class central midfielder with experience and may be the ideal foil for someon like Fellaini who is still learning his trade.
Appiah wants to join Juventus, according to the reports from a couple of weeks ago on sky sports. As for M’Bia, he has just signed a new contract with Rennes with an agreement to a transfer next summer.
so that’s that taken care of. Although i wouldn’t mind seeing Appiah in the royal blue of Everton.....
I heard Appiah was romancing the old Lady of Turin to get back in her good books.
Surely we don’t need a third new central defensive midfielder?

I’d take Appiah dependent on his wages, as we need the numbers. The worry is how often would he be in the treatment room with that dodgy knee?
Mbia seems to be fame-hungy and money-orientated IMO, he can’t keep out the press with his ramblings about what’s he been offered; where he’d like to go, etc..
M’Bia is just being honest which is fair enough IMO.
As we should aslready know 99.9% of footballers are mercenaries looking for the best deal. Man City will no doubt win the Premier League in a season or two as proof of this.
So don’t let the fact that M’Bia now has his "heart set" on a move to Arsenal put you off him or Appiah whose "heart" is "set" on Juventus, in my book if the mercenary is good enough he should be welcome at GP, and these two certainly fit the bill, and would be a welcome additions to the 20 or so mercenaries currently receiving their paycheques from EFC.

I too would like to see Appiah at Goodison but having asked one of the club’s officials regarding the idea I can tell you he’s not even under consideration, which is a shame.
Appiah isnt a defensive midfielder.
Why we dont just get him in I dont know. Proven international who has champions league experience & is a very good player. Physicality, technicallly sound player who’s only question mark would be fitness as he has just comeback from a quite serious injury & with AvDM, Saha already on the books can we afford another expensive drain.
But isnt that what medicals are for???? (haha)
Lots of talk about Fallaini being a defensive player. Hasn’t Moyes already said that he doesn’t see Fallaini as a Carsley replacement. Especially as the lad is only 20 with a fair bit of development expected in his game, I think we can expect to see him as our box to box man- (a Gravesen but with brains type) which we haven’t had for some time. He was defensive against the RS but then so were most of his mates in midfield. His performances for his country have been much more than this. I think Moyes expects him to chip in with a few goals. Certainly hope so.
I agree with you Mark, but wouldn?t Moyes need about 12 months to find out who he is? You can?t rush the ditherer!
Ronaldo is a free agent too. He is often criticised for being over weight and his wages would be an issue, but he is fantastic - his games/goals ratio at every club in every seaosn of his career is fantastic.
As lovely as it would be to see the types of Appiah and Ronaldo at the club some how i feel even after the terrible summer wev had in the transfer market that everyones still living in a dream world???
Maybe if we start to win a few games, maybe have some interest from potential buyers, our club may look a little bit more attractive to top players..... but then again moyes is the man to work hard and bring the bargains in...... but stop living on fantasy island, and lets get behind the boys the we've got to make sure we have a strong season, Timmy is coming back as well, so that's one less thing to moan about.
Up the Toffees
Alex please god no, last time I saw Ronaldo he looked like a fat Craig Charles
Appiah is a box-to-box player a defensive and attacking midfielder.. with Ronaldo i wouldnt be so harsh, Moyes is a miracle worker..
Even if he looked like Father Christmas having Ronaldo on board would raise our international profile.
Yes he is fatter than he was a year ago (which is saying something) but he was injured for the last 6 months.
Ronaldo is a goal machine and still one of the deadliest finishers in the game.
His goal to game ratio is sensational and (for at least 1 season) I would love to see the legend in an Everton shirt.
If we signed Ronaldo and Appiah, they would be like new signings......
Most people look for the best deals in their jobs so why should footballers be any different? Salaries and prospects of trophies are every player's dream... People who remain with one club throughout their career are becoming quite rare and normally it's because the very top teams don't want them. If anyone believes that Saha would ever have joined EFC if he could play in the Utd first team then they must be bonkers....
