Anil Ambani interested?

Comments (73)

Just said on Sky Sports News that Anil Ambani (the sixth richest man in the world) has dropped his interest in Newcastle, due to the current situation there.

They then said that it is rumoured that he will look to buy another club and reports suggest that Everton are that club. They said that he will be a guest of Bill Kenwright at the Standard Liege game on Weds night.

Interesting...!!!

Kenwright may be many things but surely he?s not stupid enough not to try and persaude this Ambani into buying us! I hope there's some substance to this, it's funny because one of Ambani?s sons was a guest of Kenwright's at the PSV friendly and with the Ambani clan coming out and stating that they're not interested in buying Newcastle anymore, hopefully this as got some legs to it!!! Come on, Kenwright, now's your chance to do something great by this club and sell us to this billionaire!!!

Does anyone think that maybe the reason Moyes hasn?t signed his contract yet has something to do with all this takeover speculation and possible interest from this lot? He?s said on the OS that things are progressing and something may happen soon. Maybe he?s holding his horses until they?re in and it?s all cleared up... Interesting!!!

Darren, above.....

I am sure DM is keeping his powder dry until he sees what happens with Kirkby, takeovers and all the other shite that has bedevilled our close season. Lets face it, he has been "days away" from signing for months! He doesn’t have to rush as he still has a year to go and can watch things unfold without committing himself.

I am in two minds about this Ambani situation. I appreciate that we cannot expect loyalty from any sugardaddy, but this guy, if he decides to buy in, is not exactly getting his first choice and may only come to us to satisfy his whim of owning a Premiership club.

On the flip side, it would be fantastic to be able to compete financially with the big guns and even better to outmuscle the muppets across the park!

Lets see what happens...........

Very interesting but does anyone actually think it will happen??

At least Bill can earn his crust and start to do what he does best and that's smooze and bullshit his way to a nice profit.

I?ve not been to GP since the cup semi last season; any atmosphere like the one that night will surely show these potential buyers the passion that they would be buying into and maybe tempt them.

John,

It may or may not be bullshit. I?m just stating what the North East reporter on Sky Sports said.

The facts are that this guy is currently in the country and wants to buy a premier league club. He was initailly looking at Newcastle but because of the shit going on, and the fact the Mike Ashley hasn?t communicated with him, he?s decided to bail out.

He is looking to buy someone so why shouldn?t it be us??

This is on the Newcastle Chronicle website this evening

"INDIAN billionaire Anil Ambani says he has pulled out of a deal trying to buy Newcastle United.

A spokesman for his Reliance Group said this afternoon: ?We are no longer interested in buying Newcastle because of the turbulent conditions which currently exist there and because we have been unable to have any satisfying talks with anyone from the club.?

Am I the only one with a slight reservation about being bought by a billionaire now that it's been confirmed that Anil Ambani will be at the Standard Liege game?

If we were bought and went on to become like Chelsea, I think it would actually be a sad thing. For years I've put my dislike of Chelsea (only when they beat us, really) down to jealousy but now I just feel as if soon every Premier League team will be owned by a Billionaire and our league will be phenomenal, and the rest of Europe will suffer. Already some of the old greats like Benfica are second rate sides because of money. It certainly isn't because there's no good players coming from those countries.

I don't know if this is how people felt when John Moores owned the Mersey millionaires but I'm getting gradually disillusioned with the money that circulates around football, it just feels like cheating somehow.

John Cats - Jo Ambani was at the PSV game - fact.
And yes it is on Wikipedia.
Anyone can put info on the Wikipedia site but if it is not backed up by fact then it will be removed by a moderator. This may take 24 hours.

Iain -I have a feeling you may well be correct. I also have a feeling that Bill, after his "woe is me" speech at the EGM, regarding investment etc, is setting the stage for his big show stopping announcement. ?It is a miracle, I have found a billionaire?.
BK is a showman after all.
Get investment in now, so Everton FC can get into the investors blood, as it has with so many players/staff over the years.

I would rather have a billionaire take us into the Champions League etc and we become the number 1 team in England, let alone the city, than lounge mid table waiting until the bubble eventually bursts.

And if and when the bubble does burst we will be at least in the same boat as Man U and the big boys. Anyway, I do not think the bubble will burst for a very long time and I would like to compete with the best again in my lifetime.

Mr Ambani, if you read TW, ignore the moaners and come on board. It will be a challenge but you will be buying one of the oldest, most historic clubs in the world. Add in a great manager and brilliant fans and we can take on the whole of Europe.

The Stadium - throw Kirkby out and look at ALL the options, which a brilliant businessman would anyway, without us telling him so. However, I feel that a new, very wealthy owner, may well make Hicks and Gillete an offer they cannot refuse re sharing Stanley Park.

One last point ? I would certainly trust the Ambani family before Arabian oil money or weak American dollars. I believe if Messers Ambani invest it will be for the long term and not, as Man City fans may find out, a fickle buy. I, for one, pray the rumour is true and by the time of the derby, our club will truly be on the up again and worth more finacially than that shower of shite.

From red shite taunts of ?One club, one city,? not so long ago, to us having more money than them to build a stadium anywhere in the city and Moyes being able to buy the players he really wants in January. If there is a God of Football please make this rumour be true.

It could be time for Everton FC to rise again and regain our place amongst the footballing elite. It is said money does not buy you happiness, ( yer right !), but it does buy you new players and a redeveloped Goodison/new stadium and that will do for a start.

If we do get bought up in this way ? and I share a lot of the doubts and worries about the "billionaire?s plaything" scenario ? sounds like a better option than most.

Unlike some of the alternatives around the world, it?s a fortune backed by genuine and long lasting business acumen, not on inherited wealth, oil revenues or hoovering up a fractious Russia?s natural resources. No human rights abuses, from a democratic nation that?s moving towards being the most populous in the world, and a genuine economic powerhouse.

None of which makes any judgement on whether it may or may not happen. But sounds like something I?d prefer than a (supposed) Arab royal who still hasn?t confirmed any involvement, a Thai fraudster, an American happy to base the whole deal on increased debt for the club, or a Russian oligarch.

This was what the Guardian had to say : "Ambani may now turn his attentions to Everton. This week his representatives contacted Bill Kenwright, Everton’s owner, and asked if he would be willing to enter talks. Kenwright, who has appointed Keith Harris of Seymour Pearce to flush out potential investors, is understood to have responded positively and could meet Ambani’s representatives next week."

Sounds believable enough to me. The question is how much significance do talks like this have. If Kenwright is to be believed, he’s had contact with numerous potential investors since becoming chairman. Maybe the only difference this time is that it’s leaked out into the public domain. Bear in mind there haven’t even been any preliminary talks yet as far as we know, so even Kenwright may have little idea at this stage whether anything is likely to come of it.

BB has not, to my knowledge ever stated that this Anil bloke has begun talks and until he does it?s all speculation. I guess this bile which a great Evertonian suffers is pay-back for saving the Club from its model previous owner. What lovely people support our club!

Doddy, you scare me sometimes. Do you follow BK around, taking pictures from afar? You remind me of an episode of Alan Partridge. The one with the lad who used to be (so I was told by my other half ) in Emmerdale. Alan goes back to the lads place, and he stumbles into one of the rooms, and the walls are plastered with photos of Alan, and there is a cardboard cut ? out on the chair, with a partridge mask on. I can just imagine you, sitting in your bedsit, surrounded by all your BK photos, and you going to bed with your BK mask on.

I respect you for backing BK, but you take it to the extreme, and if I was BK, I wouldn?t walk down any dark alley?s, while your around.

Many newspapers and TV news channels her (in India) are also reporting this story. They all seem to be quoting the same source : "Liverpool Daily Post".

Maybe, if we do not hear any denials over the next few days, there could be something in this story!

Brian, do you think the Yak will be loosing the battle for wall space like David Copperfield did to Allan? I wonder if Richard?s guests drink their tea from an Arialater. lol

This could be true, or could be different media sources quoting the same dodgy rumour and therefore making it appear more substantial than it actually is.

I won’t be twisting my knickers about this until the Liege game. Let’s see if he turns up.
