Yobo and Osman missing tomorrow?

Comments (16)

The physioroom has Ossie (doubtful) and Yobo definitely out (for 2-3 weeks!) for tomorrow's game.

Anyone else heard anything about these two injuries?

We'll be a patched up side again despite the new signings. Saha is out for another 2 weeks, Jacobsen for 3-4 months....

I've been trying to work it out for my match preview. Officially, both Yobo and Osman are in the Everton squad for Sunday despite them both carrying injuries as you rightly point out. So, either they've recovered sufficiently, they're included but have no real chance of playing (which means we're in trouble if Castillo doesn't make it back from South America in time), or they're going to take pain-killing jabs to get them through the 90 minutes.

Dislocated shoulder playing for your country, out til January (at least?) for your new club. We wish Lars a miracle recovery. At least it will keep the ’keep Nev at right back’ crowd, myself included, happier.

And the big Fella - was probably going to start anyway (not DM’s usual way, having been with us for effectively three days), but surely a certainty now.

Anything that forces Moyes to break up the central defensive partnership of Yobo and Lescott, in my eyes, is a blessing! Also, it should mean that 1 or both of Fellaini and Castillo should play, lets face it, the two new boys being thrown in cant be any worse than having Jags and Rodwell together in the centre of the park!

In my opinion, too much has been made of Carsley being in front of the back 4....

PIP YOBO JAGS LESCOT.

That works.......... stick to it...

So true, Chris; that back four was the major factor last year ? why mess with it if it works so well?

I reckon Castillio will start despite his lack of time with the squad, if he does not then his first game would be against Standard and I think Moyes will prefer him to off played at least one game before facing them.

Did I read that two of our 5 signing speak no English? This I assume means Fellaini and Castillo. As I don?t have Everton TV I may have got this wrong but two brand new guys in the middle of the park and they can?t even communicate is a bit of a nightmare. Mind you, what have they got to say other thank "Come on" and "It's my ball!".

I?m certainly keen to see Fellaini play. This week he was described in the "Mirror" as a Belgian muppet and more seroiusly in today's Independent as the strangest buy of the summer and a panic buy.I trust DM?s judgement and just hope we didn?t pay way too much.

It will be interesting to see if Lescott and Jags look any more secure than Yobo and Lescott have.

The absence of Lee Carsley HAS been a significant factor. The job Carsley did would have nullified four of the six goals we have conceded at Home up to now.

If Fellaini and/or Castillo turn out to be younger, fitter, stronger versions of Carsley (with more height & threat at set pieces) then the season starts here.

Bring on the oatcake eaters!

I can see Rooney coming back on season long loan. He doesn't look happy on the wing.

Do we know if Castillo is back from South America yet? Surely flights must be fairly regular?

I think Castillo must have booked his flights through XL!

As one who has flown many times into and out of S American countries, there should have been no problem in getting back early Friday at latest. Mascherano of Liverpool made it back from Argentina for their game today - sound similar to Yakubu’s absence last year to me. Probably stayed on to meet his girlfriend or have a few beers with his mates !!

Mascherano was suspended for Argentina’s midweek game though, so he flew back early ahead of Liverpool’s game with Man U (surprise, surprise). How did he manage to miss his flight, he needs to be warned not to mess us about if he done it on purpose.

4-2-3-1 Any takers? There is bound to be a lot of long balls pumped into our area so 2 defensive midfielders to pick up the loose balls and knock downs would be an advantage I think.
