Blimey - what a shock, both Castillo and Fellaini make their debuts and are joined by CAHILL STARTING!!!!
Lescott to left back with Jagz in defence and Vic up front with the Yak.

Hopefully get a win. :-)
If we don’t thrash Stoke then there’s something wrong!
Need to calm down and take our time. Hoofing it all the bloody time.
People running over/into eachother.
Cahill running around, just in front of the back four looking lost with the ball.
They remind me of Wimbledon. I reckon we will do well to win, 1-0 would be great, clean sheet and top 8.
When Peanuts comes back, one will need to make way though.
But today he’s looking to be lacking confidence, and probably confused by the new faces to pass to on the pitch.
Vic is playing terrible.
I’m sure Yakubu and Cahill aren’t requesting air balls.
The ball gets free, and two players almost run into each other to retrieve it.
BUT YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time to crack open the beer.
But replay shows it definitely wasn’t.
LOVELY :)
Can you give a full commmentry please, from your cousin (not really) in Australia.
LOL @ Cahill always the monkey having to jump on Yakubu..
Yak looks so unfazed by what is going on.
I can do a proper commentary if you want.
Also I thought Fellaini came in when it mattered. Using his height and heading the ball out of defence.
No one is near him in the height department and he was winning them all.
Sure he needs more creativity but perhaps that’s more Peanuts and Arteta’s role?
Castillo looks great in the tackle, short distribution great, longer passes off the mark...promising. Felliani looks strong in the tackle, but a bit off the pace, not really sure of his position...first game though, unfair to judge.
Anichebe isn’t confident playing so wide, I’d get baxter on the wing or commit with Anichebe with Yak.
Stoke don’t have much but we cant give em any silly set pieces, they have height and decent distribution. We need to push and take a few risks for a second, then I can only see us running away from it.
This 11... the bench... together with what ISN’T available should remind everybody that the squad is NOT in a terminal state.
Fellani and Castillo are playing with the team for the first team with ZILCH time to integrate with the squad... Cahill is playing for the first time in six months. Is it any wonder they haven’t altogether gelled... yet?!
Not a great first half, but not a totally hapless one either. Castillo actually looks the better at the moment. Now playing the holding role, looking for the ball, making himself available, tidy in his passing - all on the floor.
Fellani, not looking as though he has got the pace of the game yet, but still has had one or two nice moments.
The goal... first rate. Nice head down by Fellani and good lay-off by Timmy. Great, quick feet and finish by the Yak. And the defence looks so much more solid with the established back four from last season.
We’re winning - fucking enjoy it!!!!
Or Vaughan for Anichebe and we can hurt them with pace on the break
But this setup just gels so much better.
Solid start to second half needed, keep tight and get a second as early as possible. If its 2-0 we can relax and play some footy.
COYB.
Anichebe closest, wasn’t a high flying ball..
TINY flick on by Anichebe’s head, to back post and into the net :)
that means.
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLL! :)
WE ARE BACK
Set kick for Stoke.. (barely know their players)
Slightly to the right side for them.
3 players over the ball.
I’m in work and the BBC site is too slow with details!
COYB!
Passed the ball way left to a player running in, hit someone in the box.
Nothing.
Ball thrown in, volley by a Stoke player.
Goal.
Time to sub in another player me thinks.
Another dangerous long throw in.
We manage to get it away.
For some reason Stoke player is upset.
Neville rushing him away.
Felliani looks well off the pace. He needs some training sessions to know what his job is in the team. Id have Baxter on the left,to give us width, leave castillo and cahill in the middle. Stick Anichebe up with Yak, they are still poor at the back.
Stoke got a break away.
But looks like noooooooooooo..
Something going on.
2-1..
I think someone pulled Yobo over?
What a break for us.
Yes, the stoke player pushed Yobo over as he ran forward..
No goal.. Whew!
Arteta taking it. Nice in.
Major confusion.
Dunno what happened, prolly interference with Keeper.
Yakubu on the keeper.. Ah well. ALMOST!
Waiting as REF sorts people out in the box.
Own goal.
What is with Stoke THROWING goals?
Everton never make it easy for us. Always painful.
Although really these throws are a bit insane.
Was thrown straight into the goal.
Jags headed up, Howard tried to half heartedly punch it away, went in the net.
Your commentary is too nerve wracking!!!
From left side.
Howard CLEARS this one.
Stoke back in control.
Ball in box, back out..
Lescott (I think) left it then, Stoke kept running in.
But ball out for corner. No wait, goal kick.
Everton see it roll out of the box..
Jags manages to get out to Anichebe.
Runs up.
BAD tackle.. took his damn boot off!
Yellow
Poor defendin, Lescott dawlin on the ball...come on, we are losing all the first and second balls. Corner for stoke....typical everton.
We knew this is how they would play, physical on set pieces, Moyes needed to tell Howard to go clearing everyone for every long ball.
Ball deflected from a strong kick from Arteta.
Corner.
Very quickly..
Sorenson out for another corner.
Big boot up by Howard.
Segundo.. to LEscott.
Back to Segundo.
Neville far side to Anichebe.. Running up right..
Back to Nev.
Segundo to Fell..
Forward but lost it..
Back down our defence to Jags clearing.
Possible hand ball..
Yes.. Was it penalty box or not.
REFS conferring.
peno!!!???? Free kick...bottled it
It was WELL inside the area!
Kicked in.. Nothing much, ball kicked out into touch.
Shocking
Sigh..
Everton got a throw in from the right.
Wonder if Nev can throw a goal?
So shhhhhhhhhhhhould have been a penalty.
We manage to get it away from him.
Segundo to right, to Nev.. to Arteta..
Anichebe far right..
Kicks to far left to Lescott.
Fellaini kicks one into box.
Cleared to left.
Lescott gets to it, ball deflects out for corner.
Arteta corner, near post Cahill, header RIGHT in :)
Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi
The emotions in me are all over the place.!
THIS IS WHY I SUPPORT EVERTON! I FEEL LIKE JUMPING AROUND THIS INTERNET CAFE HERE IN NZ! :-)
Anymore and I might start typing badly..
Yak .. uh.. whats the word.
Chips.. that’s it. Chips in from left, to Anichebe.
Deflected..
Corner.
Rodwell coming on..
Way over the bar and to the left.
That was from corner kick in from Arteta.
Yellow card for Arteta for standing nearing the touch line?!
Ball out, back in midfield.
But he moved his foot, didnt connect.
No second yellow (whew)
Lawrence is off for them..
Ball is kind of up their end, our throw.
Now ball down Stokes end..
They’re passing across the box, back down towards our end again.
DELAP throwing another one in (cry)
ANOTHER long throw in..
HOWARD GRABS IT.. YES! :)
What the fuck is Howard doing today?
Free right on the right side corner of the box.
Corner...
TONGE kicking it in, and WAY over.
Headed back in though.
Howard punches away.. not far enough.
Howard collects it as it comes back in but apparently it over line.. ANOTHER corner.
YES.
and NO! 5 mins extra time (shyte)
Anicheve, back to Nev.
Arteta running in.
Bit of a scuffle.
Hope Arteta no loses it here, could get another yellow :(
Kicked.
CROWD ROARS!
Side Netting (lol)
No goal for Stoke there.
Ball into their box.
Fellaini fighting for it.
Yobo out I think. Into touch.
ANOTHER long throw coming?
Ball over them all.
They almost did it again.
Howard clears it to the left post.
Corner.
Yakubu on a run.
But keeper deals with it.
Everton back out running again.
Nice cross in by Arteta to Yak.
But its cut out into Touch.
Everton making a change.
Vaughan coming on, for Anichebe.
Throw in from left side..Fellaini back to Arteta but claimed offside.
Goal keeper takes a lonnnnnnnnng kick.
Fellaini tries to deal with it, but out for a corner for them.
THEIR keeper is out.
Up front.
Yobo gets it out.
Cleared.
FULL TIME WHISTLE!!!!!!!!!! :)
3-2
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!
But FUCK me!
Whew....
12.26 here.
I HATE EVERTON
I LOVE EVERTON
I HATE EVERTON
Why cant we just win normally, like normal teams do. I don't think my heart can take this season.
But then I did.
CAUSE WE WON!! :)
Thank god for the 3 points though!
You said in final you hate Everton.
Change please :)
I didn’t see Moysey shaking their hands.
Gunna rewind and see..
Probably thanking them for not spitting on him.
1. I wish Neville’s long throws were as effective.
2. Why is our defence still so nervy? Was Carsley really that good?
Thats nice to see.
Thanks for the link to the live stream...hard work watching but Cheers!!!
Practically the win gives us confidence and more time to bed down the new players without the tension of being in the bottom three. Every game we should get better - very impressed with Castillo...carbon copy of Carsley almost. Felliani will adjust better to the pace of the game. With peanuts on the left and arteta on the right our balance will improve as well. And as for cahill, skysports statistic about last season...in his 18 games we won 40 points! Goes to show how crucial his goals are.....all after an international mid-week as well!
The sun is out...Everton are winning (who cares if its only Stoke)...its like summer has finally arrived
Im off to lie down!
We got another game this Thursday..
FRACK.
I may be starting new job by then.
Although, as people here may not know I have been suffering a headache for last 3 weeks that doctors can’t work out and having head scans to find the cause.
Yes it sounds severe, but might just be like, my wisdom teeth needing to be removed and just causing me pain?!
In any case, guess I’ll skip the headache and the 10 aspirin per day and commentate this Thursday if I can find a stream online or my mates Setanta or whateva the game is on to watch.
NEwayz.. More scans 2moro.
COYB!! :) And CAHILL ROCKS!
(but we all know that, even unbiased non Australians) ;)
COYB/NSNO on Thursday!!
My God.
Look at the way, Cahill stands back halfway into the box.
And as the kick is taken, he runs in, like he KNEW exactly it was his all along.
Sheer speed, determination, and BAM!
Deflects it to his right, past the keeper and into the goal.
Wow.
I’m an ex English teacher in Beijing, returned to Melbourne to hopefully be now working for Melbourne I.T ;)
Although (apparently) another Mike Coates lives in the same suburb as me, even with the same family parents names as mine. Although he doesn’t have a sister..
(Found this out through my doctors)
Sound man
Not a good match for the blood pressure, but 3 good points and we would have been slaughtered with our last line-up starting today. We may be back on the up.
And DM said after the game that - with "respect" - he would apologise to the ref if he was wrong when he had seen the replay. Quite rightly, he said the ref should do the same for him if it turned out to be a bad decision. The bastard in the black had already pointed to the spot, then bottled it by running over to the lino.
Respect?
Can you do commentry thursday night for the liege game
An Everton supporter (I guess, wasn’t in colours) ran onto the field as he headed towards the flag.
Went to high five him, Cahill, scrambled past to do his punches.
Anyways. The supporter hugs another Everton player (I think Anichebe) before the masses of security lunge on him.
AND I think, Anichebe (if it was him) from what it looks like is trying to tell the security to not be so rough with the guy.
Although I am trying to freeze frame and rewind a very zoomed out angle here.
Still the guy was silly to be on the pitch to start with!
Lescott --- Looks better at left back. Scary freekick giveaway at the end. but phew.
Jag --- Looks better at center back. Nice header brother.
Yobo --- Calm and composed. no complains.
Phil Nev --- Overlapping well at right back. looks good so far. Perhaps learn a trick from Delap in throwing in.
Castillo --- looks good, getting better as min goes. Only first game.
Maroune --- hmmmm .... poor ball control.. no pace. Good presence in the air though. First game, still early to judget.
Arteta --- Sometimes you love him, sometimes u hate him (esp. delivery). Overall we all love him.
Tim --- His presence always mean something.
Anichebe --- Decent performance.
Yak --- Classy.
Sorry a bit of sarcastic humour there.
Thanks to all who remind me that it is still about the passion, white-knuckle, rollercoaster ride of being an Everton fan. What a refeshing change from all the negative civil war crap about BK and Kirkby.
Looking at Foxtel.
There’s 4 Champ League games on Fox Sports Thursday night.
And one UEFA cup game (teams to be announced) at 4.30am here in Melbourne.
It might be the Everton game, I’ll haveta check closer to the date.
And if so, I’ll have to check with mate if I can go round his place and watch.
Then I’ll use his laptop to I guess commentate for those without the game.
IF not on Foxtel, I’ll stay home and try and find a stream on myp2p.eu to watch it and commentate.
At that time I should really be sleeping and going to work the next day, but guess just an EARLY night the evening before ;)
Such an important player for us.
A little less stress would have been better!
Why cant we have boring 1-0 wins?
Neville - 7 - More confidence. Although in the first half looked lost and like he didn’t even know who his own players were (which is forgivable with all the new faces)
Yobo - 9 - Great work. Even under the pressure of breakaways. Feared the worst when the goal went in, but he was brought/pushed down by the opposition so didn’t count!
Jagielka - 7 - Not sure what he coulda done. He either jumps and heads it or his keeper yells at him to leave it. Howard should really be throwing, punching out anything that is coming to him no matter what. In Futsal I kick it at the keeper all the time to see if he’s concerntrating, sometimes it pays off.
Lescott - 7 - Much preferred in the left back position. Which sadly means no place for Bainsey. Had his moments, but didn’t perform to his usual top best. But did well enough.
Fellaini - 7 - He may have bee criticised for his pace and ball skills, but this guy has got HUGE pressure on him at the moment. New in the lineup, biggest signing. HUGE expectations. His height is a definite factor and he won every header.
Castillo - 8 - Great ball control, and with the pressure all seeming to be on his fellow debutant, he excelled and made the passes. Although both he and "Mo" crossed paths in the same position alot, he still held his nerve and did well.
Arteta - 8 - Great kicks, Great corners. I just realised I may be giving everyone an extra score than they all perhaps deserve, since we almost drew the damn game. But we won it and we fought hard, and so did Arteta and we pulled it off.
Cahill - 9 - He let down a little in the first half, looked lost, didn’t quite add up and as he ran back from the back line looked unfit, tubby and out of puff. BUT he means so much more when he’s able to come back after all this time, assist one goal and SAVE the game when it matters!
Anichebe - 6 - Scored a goal, had some decent breakaways and cruelly pulled / tripped over as he made his way forward. But looked nowhere near as dangerous as his counterpart.
Yakubu - 10 - This guy does it all. If no one is pulling their weight back in midfield, you’ll find him making his way back and setting himself up, with a pass to someone else, then getting up forward to kick a goal. When he started he was just a forward. Now he’s a playmaker/striker in one.
SUBS : Won’t bother mentioning. Didn’t really get involved from what I saw.
Newayz. All over. Now to watch the F1. Go Webber! ;) Go Hamilton!
Webber 8th.. Better than usual ;)
MotoGP about to start.
Frack it.. Going to bed.
Will record it instead.
Gnite All.
