It could be a big moment for us this Thursday, a Uefa Cup fixture on a Thursday night always feels special even at this early stage in the competition.

The fact we are playing a team who have proven their credentials by coming close to toppling our neighbours in pursuit of Champions League glory, just adds to the spice. This alone gets me motivated and excited, looking forward to contributing to the atmosphere on the night, trying to drive our boys that bit more than they will be driven by Moyes alone.

But we must not ignore the publicised rumour that has been circulating over the past week. There is a secondary reason to lift Goodison to its highest heights of passion. It seems we may have a VIP with a difference in attendance, one looking to purchase a football club, one with an undoubted personal fortune. It appeared that Newcastle were his first choice, so to switch targets is not an idle decision, if it's one he makes.

We, the fans can help him make this decision by showing him what having Everton in your blood means. Thursday night needs to be a great spectacle, of exciting football, the right result, and an experience that only Goodison can deliver.

Let's all get behind the team from the very start. Lets lift the players, lift the roof, and lift the special VIP guest we might have in attendance so he can see for himself, that the purchase of Everton is not just a business decision, but a buy-in to the priceless... being a part of the most passionate, most exciting club in the world.

So there are two reasons to create an unrivalled atmosphere on Thursday night: first, to support our team to victory; and second, to promote ourselves as a very exciting club to be involved in, with a very exciting future with the right backing. Let's do what our neighbours couldn't and make Liege look very "Standard". COYB

No offence mate but what a crock... my support would be the same whether it was Bill Smith or Bill Gates in the crowd.... if you want to determine your enthusiasm by the proximity of some ne?er do well trillionaire then thats your shout.

Personally I shall cheer and berate in accordance with what happens on the pitch... not off it.

The ending of the piece is hardly important.

VIP or no VIP, we should raise the roof at every home game anyway. I think this will happen, there is a new belief among us now that Cahill is back, new signings are on the pitch and we came out with a hard fought away win against Stoke.

European nights at Goodison are special and if a VIP is impressed then all the better.

God give me strength. The VIP guest is not coming, nor was he ever coming. For the last time: this was a rumour on Wikipedia, which has now been removed. Even the Liverpool Post has pointed out that the idea that Ambani will be at the match rumour is "wide of the mark". can’t people just quit with the fantasies.

Sometimes I cannot believe what our supporters think and state. After watching the Stoke game you soon realise the passion their supporters showed and how they rallied behind a team with little class but plenty to hear whenever they went behind. If GP can be like that each home game the visitors, players and fans alike, would be scared shitless when this fixture comes around on the previous Sunday already. So guys, let's get our support up and our negativity down.

Perhaps we need a new and rousing song where we can extol the virtues of different nationalities to appeal to the sentiment of whichever VIP is coming to visit :0) If we can take a tradional folk theme from say Russia or India or UAE and (respectfully) adapting the tune with some new words to link our heritage to the VIPs countries proud history and achievements then we are on to a winner :0) "and we?ll fight, fight, fight with all our might on the banks of the Royal Blue Volga" (or Ganges). Not sure that it would work for the UAE,though !

My niece works in the ticket office...

Only 10,200 tickets sold so far, so it's hardly gonna be a Fiorentina night...

Save yer money and watch it on channel 5....

There will be almost 40,000 VIPs there. That's all that matters.

There certainly will be, and I for one hope that football is the winner...

John Cats - No I am not stalking you but why do you persist in stating there is absolutely no chance Ambani is attending ?
Unless you work with BK you have no idea , one way or the another.
Therefore the question is - why are you so determined and dilligent re TW Ambani threads to say the rumour is untue ?
I would ask you this: An Ambani representative dismissed the Newcastle rumour within 24 hours, so why has over 100 hours gone by since the initial Everton rumour without a denial ?
Maybe, just maybe, there IS a chance he may be there.
Please show me the groundless rumour link if you can.
I have checked the Daily Post and they are still reporting the story that he may be there.
You cannot keep coming on here telling all that the rumour is a joke when you have no proof either way.
So let’s just wait and see shall we.
But then again I have asked you to do this before via another TW thread and it seems you do not have the patience or will to do that.
Shame you see Everton as such a bad investment, that you cannot ,even for one moment, imagine that an Indian football fan may be interested in buying one of the oldest clubs in the world.
