So now we know!

It was all about the money. What a surprise! The Everton manager can't wait to sign a new contract now his Buddy-Buddy Bill has seen the light and given him the extra £10k a week he was hanging out for!

Just a few weeks ago, he managed to get the deal up to £3M a year and we all wondered why he didn't sign the papers... "He's worried about the transfer kitty," we said. "No, he's waiting to see if Bill sells up," said a few. "It's all about DK," was another view.

In truth, we were all wrong. Really, we should have known. It was all about the money. It always is in this game which is slowly going bankrupt as it struggles to meet the ever increasing demands of players and their managers.

However much Premier League clubs get from their TV masters, these central characters will ensure they spend twice as much... and the Great God Moyes is just like the rest of them.

People's Club, my arse! Mine, mine, mine... The Ginger one says now. For the first time in my life, I'm actually sorry for Blue Bill. But we should have known all along ? I ask you: who gets out of bed for less than £70 grand a week these days???

Mercenary ginger tosser blah blah blah blah.

The same David Moyes who donated every penny of the money he was awarded after suing Wayne Rooney to the Everton former players foundation??

If David Moyes does sign this new contract then I will be mightily relieved and frankly whatever he is getting paid he is worth every penny.

Was that the sound of the penny dropping ?

So does this mean an end to the hysterical whining about Moyes going ?

It was blindingly obvious all along that he was never going to walk away from 3.5 million quid a year to be in a cozy little no lose situation, especially when he had no other offers

I think he is worth every penny ? a more conscientious honest person you couldn?t have as Manager.

Who would you prefer ? Sam Allardyce & Co.

The greedy bugger knew he had Blue Bill by the bollocks-and didn’t he squeeze them!
I just wonder how much he would have demanded if he’d actually won anything.
Now he’s in the comfort zone expect things to go South!

I?d have given him the deal but made half of it dependent on where we finished in The League, Europe and Cups.
I shall certainly be less understanding when he signs more wankers like VdM, Gravs and Cough Drop and gets the tactics all wrong!

Moyes wanted more money!!!!??? I’m shocked, absolutely shocked. I’ve never known an employee to take a new job for more money or ask for a raise at his current job. Thank God this is only limited to "this game". I seriously wonder what world some people live in. Moyes getting a pay increase means Everton is not the peoples club now does it? So what should Everton do, field a team and a manager who all make the median income of the fans who attend the match? Would that keep Everton as the peoples club? I can see Everton having a lot of success there. Football is a business, and those who are in it are the employees, they just happen to be higher paid than you.

He was definitely NOT offered the Newcastle job

He wasn't offered the West Ham job either, they might not be as big a club but their fans demand entertainment, they?ve hounded Curbishley out, they wouldn't have settled for Moyes

Moyes, O'Neil, Curbishley, Allardyce... They're all from the same crash bang wallop school of "We?ll keep you in the prem

I hear the guys who say he?s entitled to hold out for the best deal, I agree

But while he?s contributing to the situation, I certainly don't want to hear him whinning again "we?re skint"!

Dave Wilson....do you want to rethink what you just wrote....Moyes has done way more than just keep us in the Prem...nobody outside of the RS, Chelsea, MU or Arsenal has finished in the top 4 in a zillion years except us....we are playing in Europe 2 years running and 3 of the last 4. I thik two of the mangers you listed are currently enjoying reading their p45’s. O’Neil is a very good manager who gets the most out of his players...like Moyes. We wouldn’t want the most money he can get? And I’m so glad he didnt take the Barcode job or at the Hammers. I’m glad he’s our gaffer and I hope he stays for another five years because outside of O’Neil who else in the Prem has his track record with the money he is allowed to spend. And don’t talk about Harry. He would leave at the drop of another hundred quid.

What the fuck did you think it was???

A combination of Bill & the board showing they had funds for players and then to pay him what he thinks he is worth. Incidentally all the rumours say he wanted 4.5 a year & has settled on 3.5 a year. A big jump but for my money well worth it.

You’re all way ahead of yourselves.

Moyes has denied the contract is agreed.

He said words to the effect "it’s with the board" and showing no signs of agreement.

IMO he is not holding out for more money in fact some of you have short memories as he donated the Rooney money to the player’s foundation.

That’s how much of a "greedy bugger" he is.

Instead of worrying about Billy liar you should be worrying about keeping the best and most honourable manager we’ve had since Howard Kendall.

IMO The boss should always be paid more than the lackies who go out and do the dirty work. Good on ya Moyesy.

If reports are to be believed I reckon he’s holding out until the eve of the derby to announce the signing of his contract, thereby giving the squad and the fans (the vast majority of them anyway) a great boost just when it’s most needed. IMWT

Absolute Giberish.
Harry - although I didnt mention him - has won more with a tiny club than Moyes.
O'Niell has a better European record. Although he too takes the ugly route.
Allardyce consistently finished high with a tiny club
McClaren - yes McClaren - had a far better record in Europe than Moyes with another tiny club.

Even Denis Wise has got a better cup record with Milwall - not to mention Davey Jones.

Year on year we play ugly, ugly football.

The reason we have fallen so far from the top table of football is that finishing 5-6th playing the ugly game now constitutes success to people like you.

One more point, if Moyes settled for the same sort of wages as some of the above, we may well have been able to afford better players.

Nobody except DM the board and probably a couple of others will know exactly what the contract is. Also he hasn?t signed anything yet so he might still want more or walk. I posted on here a few weeks back saying if DM has any sense he?ll might as well sign the contract anyway. I doubt very much if he will ever be offered a job at one of the top 4 clubs so why not stick with us, get as much as possible, keep us in the top 6 or 7 with a decent cup run, beat one of the top 4 from time to time and sit back and watch the bank balance grow. Most of us are sensible enough to know there?s no way we can compete with the CL teams so DM can?t lose he does a great job with what he?s got. Even if we get a rich benefactor most of the top players want to play for Man U or Chelsea anyway, Berbatov for instance. So the best we can hope for is the Uefa Cup each year. Might sound defeatist I tend to call it realism.

Dave Wilson, after everythiong Moyes has done for the club, I think he is perfectly entitled to feel that he is at least the 5th best manager in the Premiership (judging by last year?s performance). You seem to have an agenda, you don?t like Moyes so I am not going to try to make you see snese by quoting his achievements, but name me a manager who could have done more for us these past 5 years, on the budget he has had?

I am in no doubt that Fergie, Wenger, Scolari and Benitez all earn more than him, which is fair enough because those managers? teams are regularly in the top 4 and are disputing the Champions League pretty much every year. It is only fair though, judging by FACTS and RESULTS over the past few years for Moyes to be among the best paid of the next batch of managers in the Premier League. He deserves the pay rise, we have had him cheap the past few years...

I really can?t work our supporters out!! They have been on this site biting their nails, spitting their dummies and basically spouting crap about David Moyes leaving for Newcastle !! Now it looks like he may stay they are up in arms for the man for holding out for the best deal possible!! What fucking planet do our supporters come from???

They sit there singing songs about Arteta (who I think is great by the way) however our best little spaniard continually threatens to leave us and has even used the shite to get £50 grand a week contract!! They all do it and it is the most ridiculous industry where the boss is paid less that the employees!!

Stop fucking moaning about Moyes and get on Kenwright?s back as its that prick that is threatening the clubs stature in my opinion.

The final point about money going out of the game well that?s SKY and UEFA?s fault with their prostitution of the game. Our FA should get a wage and transfer cap in place and you should only be able to spend the income you generate!! However, that aint gonna happen so its back to Billionaire hunting?? Anil Ambani anyone .....

Yes, we all hold out for more money but let's do the incentive salary thing then Moyes is plain greedy. If Wegner was manager we would be two places higher and playing attractive football with a small budget and investors queuing up to buy. So realise Moyes is definitely no God in football genius ? actually very average to below average... so adapt or die and realise it's time to change.

Well we always knew that Nobby was among that tiny band of Moyes sceptics but today?s attack is far beyond the pale.Surely even he must recognise that Davey is our most successful manager in Premier history and though I don?t give much credance to what went on before, he must bear comparison with Catterick and Kendall as our BEST EVER!

However concerned Noble may be about our finances he must know that such as an astute Chairman as Blue Bill would never part with more than the going rate as has, therefore, done what was necessary to keep Davey away from an ever-growing list of suitors.

Good to see that just for once the vast majority of Evertonians are of the same mind as me!

Danny,

I didn't say I didn't like Moyes, for every failing - unattractive football, over cautious approach - there's at least one virtue - Loyalty, determination, integrity.

I honestly believe he has done a decent job and is a good ambassador for our club, but I can't have this over-the-top hero worship some people post on these pages.

I can't, for example, understand how you can claim he?s the fifth best manager in the Prem: Redknap went back to Pompey - tiny Pompey - pulled them away from the drop zone and won a cup in the next season playing much more exciting football than we did.

Ramos turned up at Spurs ? 5th from bottom - bought a couple of defenders and won a cup.

Millwall, Cardiff, West Ham, Boro etc have all been to cup finals... we on the other hand, have been humiliated by teams like Shrewsbury, Tranmere and Oldham

Yes, he got us into the CL ? an incredible achievement ? but please don't ignore the fearful hidings we took at places like the Hawthorns just weeks after having our limitations exposed in Europe ? hoofball gets you nowhere

I love this club and although I?m a moaning fucker on here, I give the team - and the manager - 100% support come match day.
I believe Moyes to be a decent man, he?s a decent manager, but he gets paid a lot of dosh and I think we are entitled to be entertained at the very least. I just don't get why so many blues accept what the West Ham supporters consider unacceptable.

Growing band of suitors? I have NEVER seen Moyes mentioned seriously for any vacancy whilst he has been with us.

Decent manager though he is, he?s a boring sod and his teams reflect that. I am sure that is the light in which he is viewed by all but the strugglers in the Prem. Perhaps when he?s actually won something, he might attract a more glamourous employer ? for the meantime he now runs the risk of becoming an over-paid also-ran!
