Stubbsy's back!

Signed as a coach.

Stubbsy lad, bring your boots on saturday, you can clearly STILL do a job for us...

I'd feel a lot better with a retired Stubbs at the back this weekend than our current crew, that's for sure!

Excellent news, at the moment he is working with the reserves and the academy but hopefully he can help out with the senior squad and sort out our defensive frailties.

How many badges does he need to qualify as a full time manager.

A friend of mine said a while ago that he thought Stubbsy would replace DM and I laughed out loud.

But now I?m not so sure!

As BK might say it?s all about the Everton way and being a family club.

Stubbs would also be a lot cheaper than the £4 million that DM allegedly wants and hey he?s a defender who wasn?t afraid of the hoofball aproach.

Welcome back to a player who served us proud, who will make a good coach and who knows how to fight for success.

Maybe Moyes is just paying heed to the saying of keeping your friends close, your enemies even closer!

I do find it a strange appointment given Stubbs self appointed role in his player revolt a few years back! I look forward to passing on his, soon to be daily, ramblings on things he’s asked about as well as the thongs he’s not!

Excellent news.
Anyone know what he has been doing recently?

Welcome back Stubbsy!
p.s. Ron Hill, I have never heard Stubbsy talk about thongs, maybe you know him more intimately then the rest of us!

Everyone just keep quiet when Stubbs secretly appears in the back four starting line this Saturday, maybe the Official’s won’t notice ;)

I wouldn’t get your hopes up of Stubbs being involved in much first-team training as yet. Moyes is hardly going to let a rookie coach, teach the defence; no matter how desperate.

Plus the official site reports:

"Stubbs will be operating alongside Andy Holden with the reserve squad and he is expected to work with Academy players as well."

Ciaran, to answer your question, Stubbsy was recently spotted at the British Open held at Royal Birkdale, he also has his own bar in Birkdale Village, "Woodwards".

It is good news. I have always felt that the way forward for us is the Arsenal approach of concentrating on the Academy and developing local talent. Stubbs will be a huge asset.

In a previous thread someone slated him for having a role to play in the Rooney transfer. I was off bacpacking at the time so wasn’t that up to date. Can anyone explain what his role was in that?

Good news about Stubbsy. Nice to know the ex players can find a role. Especially the local ones who understand the area the club is based in. As money talks louder in the PL its nice to know he is getting a chance. If he turns out to be rubbish, make sure we fire him, but owe him loads of money and get a French bloke in.

Sorry Danny I must have been listening to too much Sisco!

Billy, in a nutshell Stubbs was/is(?) very involved with Stretford's agency, along with Campbell and Steve Watson, who were all said to be working the Man Utd angle on Rooney on Stretford's behalf. I think I?m right in stating that Stubbs even admitted that he said to Rooney that he should make the move as offers from clubs like Man Utd don?t come around everyday! Once a Blue Always a Blue my Arse Stubbsy!!!!
