The penny finally drops!

Having posted several comments on TW since pre-season about the prevailing situation ? i.e. aside from all the transfer shite, the fact that the manager hadn't committed to the club can only be detrimental to team spirit and the general "spunk" that characterises our team ? it seems that this notion has finally been acknowledged by at least one side of the club's management.

The idea that this uncertainty wasn't affecting the players was patent nonsense. The fact that it has now been formally acknowledged doesn't particularly help. The way we have played in most games this season has been so poor that Moyes's personal stock has plummetted.

What now? I am truly torn. I wanted this all done and dusted and we get cracking. But now? I am tempted to believe we need new blood. Everton look stale and we need freshness. HOWEVER, given the financial situation at the club, who could we get to deliver freshness and panache (and results!)?

We are stuck in a truly miserable Catch-22. The manager (and perhaps chairman) are both culpable in the biggest waste of an opportunity for decades. From fifth to fuck-all. It's shaping up to be a disastrous season. Once confidence and motivation goes we are in Newcastle territory.

How in sweet Jesus did we ever get here?

"EVERTON manager David Moyes believes that the delay over his new contract being signed could be spreading uncertainty at the club after his side slumped to a 2-0 derby home defeat to Liverpool.

The man who arrived at Goodison Park in 2002 is now urging the board to resolve the situation." Just the opening two paragraphs from today?s online Liverpool Daily Post. What?s the matter Davy Lad? Can you smell the bloodhounds biting at your arse or maybe you finally bought a new pen?

I've just been informed by a Barnsley fan that Howard has put in a transfer request. I'm guessing this will be a Moyes target, seems like his sort of player. No real pace, or skill but very determined and battling and will run all day.

Just one note from me on Moyes. I've never been convinced by him, even in our good runs. I am totally fed up with fucking hoof ball. Lets finally get this loser out and get back to the School Of Science (funny I've never heard Moyes use this nickname for us... wonder why). MOYES OUT!

Oh and you folk who keep saying lets not make a Knee jerk reaction and turn into Spurs or Newcastle. It's hardly a knee jerk thing when he's been here for God knows how many years

MOYES OUT, MOYES OUT!

Funny one this... by not signing a new contract on the terms that have been mooted in the local and national press(£17million); I calculate that Moyes has already been underpaid over £300,000 since the begining of the season. (underpaid in terms of what he would have earned... not what he’s worth)

I smell a rat... a great big fat porkie size rat.

I dont get it, what is Moyes asking for, why wont he sign the contract, is it more money for him or is it that he wants assurances that the board will commit a certain amount every year of his new contract for transfers, if its the latter then he wont sign as BK will not commit.

What on earth is Moysey thinking playing Yakubu as the lone striker? Before I go any further I believe that the Yak could net us 20-25 goals a season, however, to achieve this he requires five ingredients:
  1. A strike partner (a willing target man)
  2. A wide man or men who can get to the line and provide
  3. A midfielder who can burst through the back line or see a forward pass
  4. A diet
  5. Passion for his profession/club.
Under no circumstances will we benefit from him playing as a lone striker he just does not have it in his locker.

Subtle changes required include Neville right back or out (Never to play midfield again). Same for Jagilelka. Yobo and Lescott centre half pairing, Fellini holding mid/Cahill attacking mid, Osman a squad player, Arteta never to take another corner and if he is not in the game in the first 20 min, replaced by Osman. Two fighting for the one place. Vaughan given a run alongside Yak with Saha used when required.

Van der Meyde: sack him as an example to others, Howard? Well some pressure from another keeper may wake him up (not Carlo Nash)

Steve Round a one way train ticket to Newcastle (who the fuck is this guy and what is his role)

Lastly in January a big personality required who commands respect no ideas here sorry but I don't get paid for it David.

I think thats exactly what it is James, i think moyes wants assurances that the board will match his ambitions with hard cash. Which we all know wont happen because kenwright simply hasnt got the money!

The balls in the boards court by the looks of things, and i get the feeling this will just drag on and on.......

I think it is an interesting situation we have come to. If the board now make the changes to the contract that Moyes has asked for then he will sign it and we have him for 5 years. 5 years of his percentage style football. I can’t take that, no matter how decent a job he has done, I have only truly enjoyed watching Everton play on a handful of occasions in the last few seasons and that is not acceptable.Think of our best results last season. Did we peper the opposition keeper? did we pound the opposing team for most of the match? Did we dazzle them with our passing? The answer will be no more often than not. We live off the mistakes of others, that is the Moyes way and will not change.
Now with our poor season start and potential UEFA cup elimination the board are faced with the real prospect of no european football next season at a time when the competition is getting a make over and will be more champions league like. Will they offer moyes a £60k a week contract knowing that the dressing room may have lost faith in their manager? and knowing we aint gonna be in europe next season? knowing that players like the Yak, lescott , cahill, Yobo and arteta may want out? I think that Bill & the board will wait for a few weeks yet and see if Moyes proves his worth by keeping us in Europe and winning some premiership matches- with a bit of style would be nice too.
My feeling is that no new contract will be given to Moyes and he will resign very soon. I will not be dissapointed.

I am currently living abroad however I am a mad everton fan and watch, listen to as many matches as possible and therefore believe I can comment on the current situation. It is my personal belief that the best Everton could have hoped for at the start of the season was 7th, a step down on last seasons performance.

However due to the influx of cash at City and impressive start by several other teams, I know believe we will finish about 8th or 9th in the table. I could honestly accept this as I know that money now dictates the game and the more of it you have , in general, the higher up the league table you will rise.

However there are two wasys in which we can reach 8-9th. Moyes can continue with his 4-5-1 and clueless hoofball, reactive substitutions and general tactical naivety. Or he can change, (or Kenwright can make the change) and we can start to try and play football on the ground, therefore pleasing the crowd more and making up for the fall in league placing. It is my honest opinion that if the likes of Wigan can play the ball on the ground, and successfully too, then so can Everton who in general possess a much better quality of player. Thre will soon come a time when the likes of Arteta and Yakubu will want to leave if this persists. Now don't get me wrong, I think Arteta has been shit for the best part of 2 years now, however how hard must it be to have balls

1. aimlessly pumped over your head for you to run onto

2. Have them launched like an exocet missile at your midrift.

The point I am driving at is, Everton will finish in more or less the same position this season no matter what system they play, but surely it would not therefore be better to be adventurous, pro-active with substitutions and not stick blindly with tactics that clearly are now passe. Over to you Mr Moyes and Blue Bill.....

Davey Moyes has continually said that HE is waiting for the Board to come back to him on his contract, and it is therefore not Davey that is holding it up by not signing.

You lot are always so f......g quick to condemn Mr. Moyes
