4,000 goals at Goodison Park

Comments (18)

According to Ian Doyle's report in this morning's Daily Post: "The French striker stepped off the bench to net in the 87th minute to secure a narrow 1-0 triumph over Fulham.

It was Everton?s 4,000th top-flight goal at Goodison and opened Saha?s account for the club following his summer move from Manchester United."

Can any of the numerous stattos confirm this as the case?

My grandad put a bet on in 1928 that we would score 4000 at Goodison before Christmas this year!

Only joking! I was just interested.

Off the point but what's the latest on Andy van der Meyde? He didn't play for the reserves today but apparently he?s fit.

Who is this Andy Van Der Meyde you speak of? Is he a footballer? A clown? Or a combination of both?
I have said this before & I will say it again, can we all please just pretend that ADVM does not exist. He is a financial drain on our club, he picks up a good wage for doing nothing, apart from saying how much he wants to play & repay the fans every once in a while. Notice how he talks about these things but rarely does them. I will not be surprised when he starts to put in good performances when his (big fat) contract is close to ending with a view to either getting another contract with us or finding another club who will pay him to do nothing. The man is a joke of a footballer and should never be spoken of in footballing terms again!!!!

Talking about Shandy Andy brought the same type of thought to mind about Castillo, what the fuck's going on with him? Pay good money and high wages for someone who hardly plays. Is he injured? if so have we bought another crock? Is he shite? Therefore it's down again to bad buying policies, or is he, as rumours are persisting, out of favour with darling Davie.

I am sure someone scored Chelsea’s 1000th Premier League goal the other day. The Premier League is only 15 years old, so I would be disapointed if we had only managed 4000 goals in 105 or so seasons of top flight football. That’s averaging less than 40 goals a season!!

Regards VdM - I think there is no questioning his talent, it is his attitude we have to worry about. I would be wary about what Graham Nolan said about his perfomances improving to earn himslef a new contract.

Re Castillo - I have been impressed by him and I have no idea why he can’t get in the team, but 7 points from 9 and 2 clean sheets in a row probably have something to do with it.

Alasdair, it was 4000th goal at Goodison Park rather than home and away.

Didn’t dithering negative Moyes bring us something like 32 goals in the 2005-06 season? I remember Henry scored more than our entire team - Pathetic isn’t it!

Teddy - Castillo did his back in playing for Equador during the last round of World Cup games; he is not the new VDM.

I like Castillo, he looks a decent player in my view and we’ll be a better squad for his inclusion once fit again.

Yes Joe, dithering negative Moyes was the reason why we only scored 32 goals that season, so then he must be the reason why the next 2 we scored 55 and 52 respectively (it looks crap until you compare that with our 4th placed neighbours of 67 & 52)

Yet again selective reproduction of figures to have a go but completely ignoring the fact that he has scored more in the seasons following.

I don’t know what it is today with me and facts & figures, I just can’t help it.

Mike G, Castillo played for the Reserves the other night, From what I've seen of him he's better than "Reserve Fodder". The point I was trying to make, why fill us up with all this hype about signings then never play them?

Another nugget for stats fans the win over Fulham on Saturday was Moyes 100th and they were also the opposition when he won match number 1.
